Is this a variation of the Strada palette or from a separate but similar patent? Just wondering because I've seen many variations or a folding easel palette - unless they're simply design variations. I know there's also a 1997 patent with a side adjustable interlocking slide rail bracket to position adjust the lid up and its base has a screw port hole underneath it. I've also seen it out on the market. I know they go back to the 1950s and originally the19th century - formally known as Pochade boxes.
Just amazing in every respect. First, I love the Pro Gear Paintbook. I just purchased the U Go Plein Air Pochade Box. I received it. Now I have anxiety because the difference was over $200. Think quality. If you're going to paint, this Pro Gear isn't just beautiful, but would last a lifetime with care. Love the fact you can add the light. Notan...your painting is perfect, the music is beautiful, and now I wonder if I should purchase the Pro Gear and try and sell the U Go. I haven't even used it! You are a wonderful inspiration. I stopped painting years ago, and have painters fright. lol Perhaps now with your video, I can start again! Thank you! Sorry for the long comment. 🥰🎨🙏
Thank you Liz, that's very kind of you. I've recently purchased a lighter light (pardon the pun) and have been using it with another easel. Perhaps a review is in order. I'm sure the U Go easel will also do the trick. If you keep it I'd like to hear your thoughts on it!
@@notan... I purchased the Pro Gear in Ebony/black. I've added the wood palette as an extra and XL canvas extenders. I really wanted the light. A bit pricey with everything else. I can sell the U Go with the extras I bought for it or keep as a back up. Thank you so much. 🥰👍🎨🌹
How sturdy are the hinges? I am suprised nobody asked this but how fixed will it stay at any desired angle since i dont see any holding system ? Is it solely based on friction ? Thanks !
Notan! Purchased the Edge Pro Gear in Ebony/black. I purchased a wood, and black glass palette, the brush holder and cellphone holder. In addition, the light completes the ensemble. It's gorgeous! I love the the beauty, and the quality is unsurpassed. Thank you again for sharing. You have inspired me. Now, I'm going to try and sell my new U Go Plein air with extras. It's time to paint!!🥰🎨♥️
Hi Liz, I'm also deciding between the Ugo and Paintbook - are you able to share the differences you have noticed? It sounds like you much prefer the Paintbook! Thanks!
@@zy6747 Hi ZY..The Ugo was fine. I had gone back and forth between the two. I ended up returning the Ugo, and purchased the Edge Pro Gear. It's absolutely beautiful. It's solid, and all of the attachments I purchased completed everything I need. There is a price difference, but well worth the investment. I'd go to both sites. 🥰👍🎨❤🌈
I would have preferred you use the actual clips for your canvas board for the review since you are calling this a review of the product. Using your homemade panel holder doesn't show the pros or cons of the PaintBook.
Good point. Please check out the video I posted about the different configurations and slides it comes with here: th-cam.com/video/fPWQryczNLw/w-d-xo.html
Hello Yvette, yes it is very sturdy. The tripod in the video is a very old and heavy SLIK Sprint 66. I also attach it to a smaller lighter Profoto C5i tripod for plein-air painting.
Check out this video th-cam.com/video/fPWQryczNLw/w-d-xo.html. I measure it's holding capacity at 1:45 min. I wouldn't recommend going much larger than 60cm in length or width.

I purchased the light, brush holder, and charcoal pouch. Also, more brushes and canvas panels. I'm in heaven!🥰👍♥️🎨
Liz Douglas Sweet - sounds like you are ready to put some milage on your brushes!
I love my small U Go but want one of these too.
You are an amazing painter young man! Thanks for the info on the box too!
Thank you sir!
I would check out the STRADA Easel, Alla Prima Pochade, and Soltek as well for a price and function comparison.
Haley, have you tried any of these? Could you give your opinion on your preferences.
This beast kills them all.
Not sure why you should have to add the back of a canvas to hold your panel. It should have a bottom piece to hold it in place from the bottom.
I agree, this would be a great improvement.
How thick is the glass palette? Thanks for the review!
It’s about 2.5mm thick and closer to 3.5mm thick on the end strips.
Beautiful work!
Can you use it on a table instead of a tripod?
I have not used it as a table top easel as it would likely tip over when pressed from the front.

Yes, it is held solely by friction. The hinges are really tight. I’ve had no problems with it moving while I paint thus far.

The wooden panel “holder” is actually a painting panel flipped around, so this is how it would hold a panel or canvas.

How much does it weigh?
It is about 5.8 lb. with side trays. This is not including the weight of your tripod, LED light, or turps can.
Thanks for your review! Is the EdgeProGear sturdy? What type and make of tripod do you use with the EdgeProGear?

Thanks for your response. I ordered my EdgeProGear. Can't wait for it to arrive!

I’m not sure what this LED thing is in your review.....
Sharon Cullen Art This is the proprietary Edge LED light that will only work with their Paintbook.
Nice art work Notan.
mikel77 Thank you!
No where to put paint tubes or brushes
They have terrible customer service!! They can’t be bothered to respond to a query I have sent them several times
More speedpainting than review.
