I'm autistic. This Video is extremely informative, and I love to learn about the complexity's of the human behaviour. It gives me joy.
I don’t get why you had to include autism
@@RealAntixz One major part about autism is a poor ability to read social ques. To put it simply it’s not normal to us, we can't just subconsciously learn it, we have actually understand and consciously follow social ques, which can make interacting with people tricky to say the least.
@@leflamewolf alr but when you start of as “im autistic” your just labeling your self as just autistic, just an FYI
@@leflamewolf oh so that's why i can't do that...

I always go down into a split whenever I want to assert my confidence talking too someone.
Stop I was thinking that 😂
So that's why I'm just seeing a random person just doing the splits every now and then.
Also, in my professional opinion.🧐 I usually have my legs spread out, bent, a hunched back and arms that portray my emotions, using hand gestures. My work environment has shorter people so I seem more menacing to them.

This video is incredibly informative and comprehensive. It's amazing how body language can reveal so much about a person's feelings and intentions. The real-life examples with actors really help in understanding the concepts better.
it means nothing so why bother to listen to this video
i love this video it helps me tone down my social anxiety by somewhat knowing if someone wants to go or not because now im less paranoid if someone secretly hates me
thanks im an introvert and this helped a lot :)
I'm an introverted observer

whether you are introvert or extrovert body language means nothing if you are easy going people will talk to you so please dont use this video for your development just be who you are that matters the most even i am also an introvert
@@darkvader125no but it can help people with social anxiety.. most people say their social anxiety is being "introverted" but i agree it shouldnt shape who u r just help u show what emotion ur feeling without being so direct abt it
I have a really hard time reading people’s emotions and underlying thoughts, and this has been incredibly helpful. I have severe social anxiety and almost every time an action was brought up that showed nervousness or anything like that, I found that nearly all of them I do to an extent. Something else interesting was that standing with the arms behind the back, which is another thing I do which I didn’t even realize made me seem even less approachable, I always just did that because whenever I’m nervous I like to keep my hands occupied to help distract from how nervous I really am, and doing that keeps them occupied while not being distracting to someone else.

Guys, MANY of the repetitive motions listed here are often just "pacifying" or done out of boredom/habit. they could also be a form of stimming. Many less-than-self-aware people such as myself tend to do this especially if they have autism/ADHD. their actions could mean nothing, especially if your interaction is going well.
Yeah like I always tuck my feet under the chair as away of comfort. It can happen when no one's in the room I think there's a lesson here that everyone's different and you cant exactly know what everyone's thinking
True true true and true
I’ve been playing Dungeons and Dragons for the past 3 years, and in one campaign that’s lasted a year now, it’s become a tradition to raise both our hands when rolling a nat 20.
I wish that more people would watch videos like this so that we could understand each other better!
its our nature people subconciously will understand.
@@4kt6lock True, but it would be better if people were consciously reading others’ body language like they listen to their words.
Yes this channel is a gem
Thanks to this video I realized how nervous and anxious I am around people 😬Also as an adult autistic person I still have to learn what are these body movements in people, I havent watched full video yet but Im thinking it might be really helpful. Thank you for compiling and sharing this information 🙏
Thank you for this Gift
There's lots of Knowledge packed so effectively
Thanks, this is exactly what i needed to learn
So, to summarize...
Being closer or turning towards someone is a sign of comfort or confidence, and vice versa.
Making yourself smaller is a sign of discomfort or insecurity, and vice versa.
"Gravity-defying movements" are a sign of positive emotion, and vice versa.
Fiddling with things is a pacifying movement either to cure boredom or anxiety. Sitting still is a sign of investment.
Eh to be fair generalising this is somewhat wrong move
It's more of "Hey, people tend to do this so pay attention sometimes"
Because almost every movement untill 10:00 is 50/50 i tend to do half of those just because I'm comfortable doing those
but everything after is something that can help
Hope i remember these when i talk to someone.

Thank you so much for this video :') I'm kinda bad at reading body movements of others
I find the advice of not pointing and instead using your whole hand rlly rlly helpful
Summary: if the person moves towards something, they ‘desire’ it, it can be the desire to leave, or the desire for you. If the person has broad body position (like far apart shoulders or far apart legs), they feel confident, and so is for the opposite (closer apart legs mean less confidence). If the person starts massaging themselves, they feel uncomfortable. If the person has abnormal breathing, they feel more nervous (if they didn’t do a lot of exercise, if so then that’s normal).
My legs Position Changes According to the comfort I got
I change my legs Position In every 5 mins 😂😂
When i was younger like 6-8 i noticed these things alone, and thought i was like a starwars clonetrooper if i trained to erase all signs from my movement or use it like a poker face. It actually helped alot growing up but i was abit of a cocky bastard when i learned others arnt aware of there own movement
Thanks for the insights. I suggest adding chapters/time stamps to make it easier for us to practice identifying the gestures.
Great video a bit long but great work man
3:06 I do this because it feels nice after I’ve been walking and standing for hours
I use every gesture that means confidence. Never paid attention on this. Maybe that's why my boss fears and avoids me.

Alternatively, many of the leg positions described are used to adjust for physical comfort. Lower back issues lead me to sit and stand in multiple positions in the same setting or conversation. Not everything is phycology. Sometimes its just physical. Someone 'reading' me would think im bonkers😉

I watched the whole video and forget everything afterwards :D
You use the word "discomfort" at lot for positions that could be other things.
Sometimes it could be a sign of distraction or concentration
Am I the only one watching this to understand how to show people I'm feeling negative emotions?
For some reason, I always struggled with this, I never felt comfortable expressing negative emotions infront of my parents and I never realised that it was problematic and damaging till I got into a relationship and actually started wanting to be heard by someone, even on my bad days.
I started to realise that I'm struggling heavily with showing negative emotions and with calming myself down efficiently.
Even when I do let my emotions out, it feels like I'm acting instead of being real. It's like I have no clue nor confidence in my own feelings and I usually end up either exaggerating the feeling - pushing by that people away and confusing them, or the complete opposite - downgrading the feeling which leads to me feeling unheard and misunderstood almost right after..
And yeah, I do plan on doing some therapy sessions in the future regarding that and some other things that are bothering me, but I'll be able to do so, sadly- only in about 3 to 4 years... :)
So.. i guess, I gotta survive somehow till then.
So if, by any chance, there's a therapist in here with some advice on how to deal with this problem and, if there are, any other reasons I struggle with that except the reasoning I gave, I would gladly appreciate it❤😢
I aint reading allat
I read allat, and i just want to say that im sorry for my past rudeness. Also, i think that its fine to feel weird when doing physical or body movements. If you havent done it before, or just starting to go back into movements to show that you are uncomfortable, its fine to feel weird. Its just like riding a skateboard. Its really hard once you start skating, but overtime you will get a lot better i swear. If you still need the therapist after a while, dont worry about it. Nobody will judge you. I guess my advice is, do what you want, as long as your comfortable doing it.

In terms of body language, it is always important to see it in context with the baseline and situation.

Useful
These can be different in different cultures.
Just no?
Only applies to some body language.
That was one of the first disclamers of the video...
Does body language differ between cultures? and if it does, how big the difference? i live in southeast asia, i dont know how big the differences are there between eastern and western culture in term of body language. Even between neighboring countries have culture differences. Not just country, even family can have culture differences. The big question is, which information that valid and can relate to my social dynamic?
I think it can but some body language is universal
To be fair it's better to find some books about your own culture if you really wanna know how people CAN feel
I myself struggle with social so can understand you
Oh yeah one more thing, almost every thing until 9:00 are 50/50 because some people just can be comfortable in those positions
it does not matters now a days which ever culture your are in ..
