Patrick performs exclusively on Pirastro cello strings. For more info on Pirastro, visit www.pirastro.com.
Since Patrick is away on tour with his OTHER group (Break of Reality) for a month, we were forced to dig into our archives for a video to post while he's away! We had a little extra time during our very first BD studio session last spring, so Marnie took to the piano and we caught her in the act. Don't worry though, cello lovers, because we have some awesome DUO videos planned for when Patrick gets back! As always, thanks for watching. :)

I think I was 22yo when I first heard this song, would’ve been sometime in 1989. (I’m 56 now) My roommate had a CD of various piano artist and I played it on a whim on our CD player, a new technology at the time. Very clean and noiseless. I remember becoming so emotional while listening to it and on about the third or fourth replay I began to cry, it was so longing and beautiful. As a young man I felt silly crying over a song, so I changed the CD to something else, probably rock. It wasn’t the last time I’ve been moved to tears by a song, but definitely the first. I love remembering that experience. So, yeah, if Debussy had only ever composed one song, ever… Thank you, Mr. Debussy.

Debussy was a brilliant pianist. Moving from the late romantic style, he worked schorter and approaching the form of musical works, modern music that will influence the aesthetic sensibility of his works.
Clair de lunr one of his most famous musical works. This piece of music is wonderfully and movingly perfomed.

So rich and warm, and such depth in that setting. Makes me imagine a couple from the 'twenties' putting on their ritzy evening clothes, he in top hat and tails, she in small tiara and furs, and they take a romantic Valentine's night tour of the city, go to the grand ballroom party at the hotel by the shore, then step out together onto the lonely veranda to admire the full moonlight and twinkling stars looking at their shimmering reflections in the bay.

Shivan Mavalal I agree with most of the comments except for one. Many may disagree, but I just feel that saying that someone is "blessed" with the ability to do something is slightly insulting. I understand that it is a compliment that comes only with the best intent, but people practice for years and even decades to do things like what you see in this video; I'm sure you're not stupid though, so you probably know that.
I suppose saying someone is blessed could be referring to the ambition to practice for great lengths of time for the sake of the talent, and some people are more naturally gifted than others at some things, but talent is generally nothing more than a pursued interest, and chalking that talent down to a blessing which is essentially out of one's control is demeaning to the person and the beautiful work he or she puts into the world.
Sorry for the novel, and please don't take this to be a mean comment. I honestly mean this in the most polite way possible. I didn't mean to sound like a dick.

This is an amazing and beautiful rendition of "Clair de Lune". So much emotion is conveyed through Ms. Marnie Laird's flawless performance. Very moving. I must admit, I feel rather embarrassed with my own rendition of "Clair de Lune" on TH-cam which I had recorded over thirty years ago when I was a young man. However, Ms. Laird is truly a gifted artist.

Marnie does to a piano what a ballet does to a stage. The way she moves in between transitions made me think that it was slowed down for dramatic effect, but after seeing other videos, I just realized it was all her. Beautiful!

This was a melody on my now 14 yr old son's crib music box....It takes me back to sweet baby naps and the pure joy of being a new dad. I can't listen to it without tearing up. No other version triggers my emotions like Brooklyn Duo...absolutely love it!

I found this channel a few weeks ago and have been trying to watch most of their videos. This performance has convinced me Marnie has the feel and timing with her playing that is as good as anything I have ever heard. When I say my prayers tonight I will remember to thank God for you and your husband.

I have heard so many versions from this on youtube and although many have the technique down, they can't bring in the feeling that this piece requires. I love how you gradually build up the sound from 1:11 to 1:50. You just play it so beautiful.
And then the fast part which feels like raindrops falling to earth. It sounds like a dream of a far away land, something that has long passed.

I always thought Victor Borge playing Clair de Lune was the best until I heard you. You are the best! Incredible!! Beautiful!! I found myself holding my breath as you played each note. I felt a lump growing in my throat. So much emotion can only be expressed by those who are truly gifted. Thank you for sharing.

Miss Laird could feel all the magnificence of this that is, in my standpoint, one of the most representatives of Debussy. It is a clair de lune/moonshine in our hearts

This is , by far, one of the best versions on TH-cam. Some musicians clatter the keys but this version is so soft and measured. Parabens.

This is absolutely beautiful. I have heard this played many many times and have been disappointed to find that far too many play this stunning piece of music too quickly. This is absolutely perfect. The feeling you put into this also, is so apparent. Just lovely. Thank you, you ought be be so very proud of yourself.

A beautiful rendition indeed. Until I heard this, I thought the Kathia Buniatishvili performance was my favorite, but the clarity of this particular performance lets each note shine as brightly as the "lune" itself. Love this tempo, this feeling.
