7:37 this is SO TRUE!! Totally top tier advice. As a sniper you want to take your shot and get out. Great vid Brave :) Spot on with the recommendations on how to correct these common mistakes.
Great help as always man. Yeah don’t be afraid to miss your shots guys. Hesitation is the biggest hindrance. That was for me but practice makes perfect.
I finally understood my only problem with sniping: hesitation. I always think that I need to hit my shots. Guess I'll start firing randomly on lanes lol
So dam true lmao. The amount of time ive second guessed a shot and missed the chance smh. I also didn’t have scavenger mods at first so that helped a tiny bit with the ammo(never really needed it on a shotty) but ye, need to stop doing that lol.
What's funny is I put my sniper down about a year ago because I used to use soul survivor. Had to pick up sniping again for iron banner this week. And all these don'ts that I'm seeing I learned in banner. So I know this content is spot on
I had this huge misconception about snipers back in D1 which was: 'ALL THE BEST SNIPERS ALWAYS LANDED HEAD SHOTS" And that made me never consider learning how to snipe even though I really loved shotties. After watching a ton of videos and trials streams, I've learned that landing body shots doesn't make you noob for landing them. Back when bows entered into frame with Forsaken, I considered them discount snipers and even started learning how to use them and I had quite a bit of fun. Anywho, this video definitely helps with what no to do so for that, I will smash the like button for the TH-cam algorithm! 👍
@@BRAVExHERO Thanks man! Oh yeah and I totally forgot I actually dabbled a bit in sniping in D1 with my Hunter 😅 There's really no other feeling like landing a headshot!
Sniping is all instinct at at high level. Anyone can hardscope but to have a sniper on and being CONSISTENT is the hardest thing you can accomplish. Having a sniping Instinct is key: whether you are drag scoping, flick shoting, quick scoping, or even no scoping, No hesitation and pure confidence is NEEDED. You hesitate. You die. Your not focused. You die. Your hard scoping for too long, you create habits and you die all the time in high end pvp like trials and comp
I feel like you were talking directly to me when you said to avoid gimmicky tricks and perks. XD I'm glad someone out there is willing to at least explain how fundamental perks can do just as good.
So true about the hesitation part! Looking back at some of my games using a sniper rifle, I'm more likely to miss a shot if i pause and think too much about it
7:39 I feel like I've done decently at sniping but recently I've been trying to teach myself a few things recently, basically the last two things you said in your video: 1: I can use snipers at closer range and just go for the clean up with my shorter range primary if need be; missing a headshot isn't the end of the world. 2: It's better to take the shot and miss then to dance in and out of cover for the next 10-20 seconds. 2.5: The only way to get better under pressure is to try making plays under pressure. Recently went in to a contested lane with the aim to Cloudstrike a collat (prior to the past week or so, I've rarely challenged with a sniper so this was a bit new to me if I wasn't already near/in the lane). Despite not realizing there were 3 guardians (1 pushing, 2 camping far back; this being 6s), I managed to get a clean headshot on one of them before being deleted (they weren't grouped up, unfortunately).
As a sniper main I couldn’t agree more with challenging lanes that are already being held, and that is the exact reason I main astrocyte and nova warp. It allows me to always secure the lane first before they’d expect it. Always slide snipe if you decide to challenge or find a different angle to turn them into a convertible when they aren’t paying attention
Thank you, I'm just starting to use a frozen orbit sniper in my pvp games (I have the same roll). It's hard and I tend to fall back to my shotgun after a few games since I don't seem to get my 2+ kda games after some lobby balancing. But content like this will make me persist and take some of the valuable inputs you provided.
@@BRAVExHERO Thank you, I did. I just think after a few games "I tend to main the sniper more" and keep it out in situations when I shouldn't.. That hesitation point was also interesting. Let me keep persisting and practicing. I'm honestly bored of running just the 120, shotgun combo for almost two seasons now.
That voice change at 5:48 got me good, lmao. Overall, great video with helpful tips! Going to share with my new guardian buddies. The "Don't Hesitate" 7:38 is a great tip, be confident and take the shot. 9:00 - I main tempest strike lol
Yea I think I've grown too hesitant about using my sniper ammo but it's mainly because of how frequently I miss. I know about head level and getting to a lane and shooting first, but personally I can't consistently land a shot, and find myself without special ammo for the entirety of that round/until I die, which can be a huge issue in something like comp or trials where my other weapon is better catered to close range, like last word or a sidearm. This has led me to use scout rifles and bows more often because I know that I can land a shot far more successfully to get the first shot off and flinch a sniper to win the engagement, but I also know that there's issues w running a primary weapon as a special ammo replacement considering time to kill differences. I find myself running two primary weapons a lot more now, where I value a 150 damage shot to a guardian w a bow over 0 damage of a sniper shot missed, or just not having the ammo at all. As a result, I end up using a shotgun because I know I can consistently get a kill with it in a higher stakes situation, where being able to instantly put down a rushing shotgunner is paramount. Not saying that sniping is bad, just noting my own issues w sniping and why I've ended up not keeping it up. I keep watching videos of sir d landing really good Snipes and I always want to get back into sniping, so I'll try a bit more to get there, but I think ultimately a shotgun is more reliable for me, as a less competitive player
Been sniping non stop for the last 2 seasons ish and I tried shotgunning today. I may get more kills, but also more deaths and it’s just way more boring
"don't hardscope" honestly this advice is nice but a couple of key points on this one regarding snipers, yes hard scoping in sniping lanes makes you a sitting duck however, pixel hard scoping is perfectly fine as there are some maps which i highly recommend to stay at max 5 second window as there are widow's court or exodus blue(you can pixel peek through corners of those metallic objects with a railway) and requires vast knowledge of every single map, highly recommend you play private solo matches and see every nook and cranny of maps to know pixel peeking and you will learn how to counter a lot of plays
