Actually, this thing is more important than you can ever think. I have here a computer a customer brought to me, telling it's overheating or the graphics card is fried. As a computer repair guy I tested everything and it turns out the problem is exactly this Hall LID sensor. In my case, it is giving bad outputs, making the computer go in sleep mode RANDOMLY. I know a lot of people trashed their computers for this very reason!!! So watch out guys! :D
same problem here got a computer from a customer with a hall sensor that is corroded till its green
Thanks Soren for putting some OT for us too try and make a special video of more knowledge. Believe me your not the only one that has have a failed video due to drivers crashing. Have a good weekend...
Thank you for another great video and gratz on 6k subs!
Thank you for making a video for us, you are appreciated even if we never got to see it.
You might want to use a hex editor to look at the start of the file, just to see if its similar to another same sized mp4.
Hopefully its just the file identity thats corrupted and not the whole file.
Lenovo 💻 also has the sensor in exact same place. I added a thin metal sheet in between magnet and sensor, Now my laptop never goes sleep while lid is close. Same result can be achieved from BIOS or OS level. But my use case exactly match with this method.
Thanks.
I used to do cleaning for old laptop, most of the time I found there will be a mechanical switch.
Good explanation mr.sirion because I always wonder how this works on new laptop.
thank you as usually great video
Thank you very much for this precious information. There is very little information about hall.sensor.
There is also a l-o-o-o-o-t of yada yada yada
We feel very sorry for you but.
Terima Kasih atas ilmu nya pak, semoga di beri rezeki yg berlimpah & kesehatan selalu. Amin . . .
Amin bang
THANKS A LOT......... BRO PLEASE KEEP UPLOADING SUCH VIDEOS LIKE, ENGINEERING BEHIND THINGS
Nice explanation, sir .. loved it !!!
Thank you 👍
Excellent that's one useful trick
Enjoy your weekend sir
Thank you for your hard work. By the way, I wanted a video like this. And it is also helpful for me ... thx again
Thanks for the explanation.
Very nice sir...
Thank you very much 🙏🙏
Thanks for your sharing. Awesome. So, if we connect the input pin to the output pin with a jumper wire, the laptop will be always on.
Great tutorial sir...to be honest i dont have any idea about the hall sensor till i saw the video...i usually never pay attentionto it or shall i say..ignore it..i felt sorry about the lost video...try to download and use "easeuse data recovery"..thanks a lot..
Thanks ❤️
It works, thanks a lot
Your tips just saved my laptop. With hall sensor it confirmed my display panel is bad. Can a hp elite book white display be repaired?
Another great video, question, which pins did you short, the input and output or ground to input or output?
Awesome explanation, I'm currently dealing with my girlfriend notebook which it has a broken hall sensor, while I'm sourcing the part, is it safe to bypass it? right now the board doesn't start up which makes me suspect that it can be another thing, but I would love to see if the sensor was the reason
It might not work and is probably also more time consuming, but if interested, it is possible to repair damaged video files with VLC media player or Lightworks.
vlc tried, didn't worked
have a good weekend....
Great sir
Great like always...can we make a wire between in/out hall sensor just to confirm that it s him the issue!
good vid
Is it possible to get rid of the magnets that are inserted in the screen , so the computer behaves as if the lid was constantly opened? I've got some old laptops I want so use with them being closed but they look like the performance of the computer gets truncated when closing the lid. No option on the BIOS to change this behaviour , neither on the OS (Win10) . Please let me know if you know a trick. Thanks for the video
Thnks v lot
Hi
Good morning Sir from area.
Sir why did you not try using another media player to see if video will work, like KmPlayer OR VLC
Thak you, I will see if there's a tool to fix the video.
Yes it was good one
if the sensor having trouble and we cant see any parts to replace can we jump direct the input to the outpot in order to the laptop to power on?
I just found this video and what a tragedy! Was it ever recovered, or did you just end up re-recording it?
Put VLC player to play any kind of Video and Audio
Hello, thank to your video i figured out where this sensor is. I assume it is working correctly because all the measure are ok. If into magnetic field the pwr switch doesn't work and I assume it is normal (simulating a lid closed). Anyway I experienced this problem: when I press the pwr button during a cold start the laptop monitor stays off. If i stimulate the hal sensor with a magnet 2/3 times the monitor turns on. If I restart (warm pc) the monitor stays on and respond correctly. I have a Dell xps 1340 core2duo old pc and the sensor is in the palmrest, near mouse left button ; it is processed in a logic board and connects to the mobo with a ribbon cable which carry pwr switct, palmrest fn switches and leds, TouchPad and so on. If helpful I have a malfubcion in a led (volume down) what stays on when pc is off, and turns off when pc is on (also non working during self test at start). Do you think I should replace or repair the palmrest or the problem should be on the mobo? Thank you
Use VLC player to see if it can play the file, it may complain about the header if it plays you can just re-encode it in something like bigasoft video converter, but as its been 4 months you probably just deleted it by now :-) good info about the HAL though.
Sir how to find this 3 leg transistor in schematic diagram I mean what name in the diagram can u tell me please
If the sensor was faulty would an external monitor still work on this model?
My laptop won't turn on bcs of this hall sensor, can i remove the hall sensor??
Hello sir, My laptop "wake on lid open" setting on BIOS is disabled, but it's automatically power on when I open the lid, please reply can I fix this error, because I tried so many tutorials but it's not working for me, error is still working
Try data rescue 4 or R-studio.
Interesting as usual. Too bad about the mp4. look and response #1 here.. maybe there's still hope
any time is tea time
Try VLC Player. I’ve had good luck with it.
tried, didn't worked
try VLC player
tried, didn't worked
Have you tried converting those video files to another filetype? sometimes it works. Are you able to open them with VLC?
tried, didn't worked
Method#1: Repair Corrupt MOV & MP4 Files with VLC
Follow the steps below:
Step 1: Launch VLC Player; go to Media, and then select Convert or Save
Step 2: Next, add input files or streams that need to be transcoded, and then press Convert or Save
Step 3: In the Convert window that appears, provide the file name for the destination file
Step 4: Next, select the desired input Codec from the profile list.
Step 5: Press “Edit Selected Profile” button to check or edit a specified profile settings
Step 6: You can also select to add a new profile or delete any existing profile
Step 7: Next, press Start
This may help repair video files, therefore, making it playable in VLC and other media players. If not, there are other procedures that can also repair corrupt video files.
Method# 2: Replicate Video File to Gain Accessibility
Follow the steps below:
Step 1: To begin, create a copy of the original MP4 or MOV files
Step 2: Rename the video file to AVI
Step 3: Now, launch the VLC player
Step 4: Select VLC, then Preferences, and then click on Input or Codecs
Step 5: Then click on Save in the bottom section of the Preferences window
Step 6: Now, select Always Fix next to Repair AVI Files
Method #3 Video Repair Software for MOV and MP4
If none of the above-mentioned processes helps much in resolving the issue, you can try using Video Repair Software to repair your corrupt MOV and MP4 files. The tool has the capability to deal with all kinds of MP4, MOV corruption issues including broken file header, compression issues, etc.

And with MP4 try first installing new coddecs... Search for cccp codeck or k-lite mega codec... Cod be a codeck problem.... Or u can try to convert that file for another extension... For the last try Stellar Phoenix Video Repair tool

Sir when ur buy a new cam and multi meter
A video container: avi, mp4, mkv... are similar to electronics schematic. And that schematic must be closed properly to work properly. Your video hasn't end properly, there is missing parts in it.
I think you need to re-index the informations in the file.
At the beginning of the file, there is informations about the streams inside ex:
video stream encoded with Xvid at 25fps,
audio stream encoded with mp3 or ogg or AC3 codec at 48khz,
what splitter is used, what is the video renderer...
At the end of the file there is important informations as well, and they are missing because of the crash.
If you want, I can try to fix it for you. Just upload the file upon your google drive then send me the link.
Best regards
use a hex editor to see if a corrupted video file has data inside or it is just zero zero...
maybe use a file converter and convert the mp4 to mp3
yes try fist open it with vlc player
tried, didn't worked
Hello good day. Thanks for teaching us your work. It is wonderful to see how you do it. I am a FP informatics and will change parts, but not repair them. And I want to learn to repair !! I'm trying with your videos.
I want to buy an adjustable laboratory source. But I do not know which one I need. According to you, it has to be linear and I have found one, which has:
Output voltage: 0-30V
Output current: 0-10A
Protection: Current limit
Do you think this will help me? Thank you and... sry for my english XD
yes is fine but 10 amps is too much. Check for one 3-5amps
Ten amps too much? They recommended this for the 10 amps. Some high-end equipment consumes more and if they have a problem with the battery charge, I will not be able to test. At least that was understood. Thanks for your prompt response. A greeting.
nowadays they produce laptops which works with 15 amp.. if you think about future buy with high amp.
just use testdisk to recover that file
Virtual dub may help you for repairing the file. Or Graphedit : goo.gl/images/cfpktz
But it is not the easiest way
