You could do with a metal brush, connect one end to the 19v input with the power off and the other end to a metal brush, then lightly brush the board with the metal brush. It’ll beep then when it touches a contact that’s on the same line. Will be a lot quicker than checking every pad with the probes one by one. Just find a brush with very fine metal hairs to not damage the board.
When Sony was designing this, the boss said build me a Transformer, well they built this and Sorin Transformed it, Well done Sorin that's what electrics is all about, Finding other ways to get around a problem.
I was expecting a different outcome but with your patience you got the best and genius. I would like to ask you if any kind of N or P channel moster can we make the short between gate and source or drain as it is? You understand.
20:47 I agree. This is why I eventually made the personal choice to shift from retail to commercial repair. Where I was located, dodgy customers were an epidemic, then all of a sudden, more commercial/industrial clients came along and they were generally way more respectful. Seldomly, I do take a "reliable" retail customer, however for the rest, I refer them to other "retail repair" shops around.
I'll admit I'm lucky, however with your skills and dedication to your work, your storefront business, as well as your TH-cam channel, you too may find one or more commercial contacts. Nevertheless keep up the good work because it will pay off to the point where the dodgy, wanky customers will eventually get the idea not to mess about with hard workers like you. Cheers!
You short it... because YOU CAN!!! GREAT, GREAT, GREAT. Thank You, sorry for the trouble with the camera but many many people (me incluided) learn a lot with this videos, unique videos.
The best part was the devil Laugh ... when u said " i replace the mosfet" i was surprised hhhh...... if i was at ur place; After This hard repair, i think i will smoke a cigar.... u do it like a Boss, Keep up Master!
Very nicely explained....i want to see more videos from u about 19volt or other volts jumpering from one section to another...also bypass graphic chip in case of graphic chip failure in some models. I like the way u explain ..u just play with the motherboards. wants to see more videos on shorts..mosfets etc.
What is the voltage where you put the 19v to make it power on? It might be 2.2 like the rest. Also could you put 19v to make it power up and trace backwards to see where it ends?
Love the videos I don't know where you learned your trade but you are very good at it By the way I have a cheap multimeter but I swapped the leads for the ones you use Great minds and all that
Hi, I do not understand when you inject voltage into a board like this sony, where have you connected + 19v ?. How can I know how to do it for other cases and not break the plate? Thank you
Does look like its made to be shorted. After a failed mosfet on half the boards I've seen you do, I have a feeling this is what is going on with my Asus ROG rig - at least as far as I can figure out with a multimeter. I got a long way to go before I nail it though. So I'll keep watching!
You need to get Angry more often, its very entertaining plus when you are angry you fix things faster. Love this video Sorrin. Go and have a smoke, 'because you can' 🤣
hi really love your videos and learning lot of it and they are very helpful & inspiring you make this work more interesing where & which website these laptops are selling please tell me
Sorin, te rog sa imi raspunzi (daca poti) si mie la o nelamurire: Mosfet Channel N cu + pe Gate, trebuie sa fie deschis? Iar channel P cu - pe Gate trebuie sa fie deschis? Multumesc mult!
Hi, do you know how to install SSD (or should be mSSD?) without put it on DVDslot? is it has the SATA slot? Or M2 slot? or what if install the SSD in WWAN slot? Thx.
Dear sir why you shorted that MOSFET was this the first protection MOSFET at 19v power rail? How you decide that this was your problem? If I understand correctly the output voltage at this MOSFET was not the expected (19v) right ? Why you shorted These particular pins ? Were these pins the output (drain) pins and the ground pin?
+polinikis petrakakis same question was in my mind thats why i read all comments until i saw urs...he is right it is on the 19v power rail and it should be open when plugged...but i dont understand why he shorted 2 pins that are in the same line...the 4 pins dhould be together??
I like all of your videos! You are a master of electronics! Wish I could be like you! I need help on a Lenovo laptop, everytime I plug in the charger it makes spark and cut the current from going to the board. Is it a mosfet situation?
LOL- I will replace this mosfet. You know me xD - why do you short it then? - because I can hehehe I really enjoy your videos, you are so funny and great! Bravo! XD learning a lot, thank you for sharing!!
I had a Laptop that was wet with coke. i clean the MB with isopropelic Alcoohol. when is on all led brigth and fan start but no video on screen or VGA port. can you help?

'Looks like it's made to be shorted'
I love this man.
Just watched this again and that part makes me laugh
Sorin, don't drink that toxic garbage. We need you for many more years to come.
Esti un geniu din punctul meu de vedere...Am invatat multe din filmarea asta...imi place tenacitatea ta.....FELICITARI!!!!!
You have proven your methods work, and keep the cost down for the customer. First class yet again Sorin.... Thanks

Pls what is this process it seems simple ?what is metal brush itself ? How to do it exactly too

Who believes that a solder drop is the solution to that hard job
Great job Sorin
It was a complicated job but as usual u made it look easy.
I miss this energetic sorin , nowdays he seems a bit depressed.

You sir are patient! Awesome job
Oh my... that Sony is a real nightmare. Great work as always! By the way I'm just interested in electronics and a humble hobbyist.

Best part "Yeah let's short that Mosfet"😂 😎
Very nicely explained....i want to see more videos from u about 19volt or other volts jumpering from one section to another...also bypass graphic chip in case of graphic chip failure in some models.

Brilliant trick and detective work
I think you got little angry with this one.
Perhaps because he's sick of all the "you are dodgy with your repairs" comments
Easily happens when you can't trust your own instruments. Been there, done that... It's a horrible feeling.
What is the voltage where you put the 19v to make it power on? It might be 2.2 like the rest.

“Looks like it’s made to be shorted”.......Hero!
Love Friday and your videos im learning things from a good sir !

we all have those days love it !!!!! if it works I see no reason why not just get it done and pay the bills
Thank you
i know u dont understand, Please check for my motherboard lessons where we draw and explain the basics of the laptops power rails
Did you change the go-pro psu, it seems ok today.
Does look like its made to be shorted. After a failed mosfet on half the boards I've seen you do, I have a feeling this is what is going on with my Asus ROG rig - at least as far as I can figure out with a multimeter. I got a long way to go before I nail it though. So I'll keep watching!
thanks again....i am slowly learning more...greetings from the dutch.
Just love your videos so informative,I have learnt so much from them.

I have two sony vaio not the same model but exactly the same as that and I still can not figure out their problem.
The MOSFETs are made to be shorted - Sorin
46:20 the diode is not soldered ..you can see its moving it wasnt the mosfet
hi really love your videos and learning lot of it and they are very helpful & inspiring you make this work more interesing where & which website these laptops are selling please tell me
