Please please don’t ever, don’t ever stop being you! I can’t thank you enough for your real world knowledge. This IS the best learning videos/channel for people like me. I was very negative and a big asshole about this channel and was very wrong. I just want to say thank you and keep up what you started. Thank you!
Thanks for your videos Sorin, i learn so much with them. I think that those super i/os should be standardized somehow. So many laptops go to the landfill because of these hard to find/get/solder/program chips.
Always remove the super io chip and inject tension again to verify the power consumption. The cpu must be also dead and you'll loose money buying the chip.
Thank you once again very much. At 5:51 of the video you talked about cleaning with Alcohol, my question is: What kind of alcohol do you use for cleaning in particular, is it normal alcohol or it is different, please tell me about it.
Sorin thank you for sharing. How are you finding the new microscope camera? I hope its not just me and politely asking do you need to adjust the settings to improve the quality of the image? I am not finding it better that your previous one in this video.
As I'm Eating my Sopa on my Tablet in front of me, I was thinking that computers have that problem of liquid damage by the keyboard, mostly. So not having keyboard is an advantage. My tablet in in a case sustaining the screen in vertical position and covering it when close. No pad, no keyboard, and when I Open the tablet can see le buttons are separated from the motherboard. The Usb C is the only entry, but is always in the upper corner, with the case. I uses my tablet in the garden , at the wood workshop, in my bag when shopping in the city. USB should be covered by something when not used perhaps this could be an idea to cover also the super io with some thermal paste?
I think the damage on the super io came from the power supply that is suppose to give it 3.3v in the video. The power supply shorted and zapped the super io. I had one laptop that the mouse didnt work. It was actually the super io got water damage on the pins and shorted out the mouse data lines.
I will be happy if you show us what kind of programmer you will use for this kind of job (I have rt809h) and I know that it is powerful but I never use for this kind of jobs. Thank you in advance
I know your asking Sorin but just thought I would chime in. I think that you want to reflow the solder under the super-io. However, A sonic cleaner would not do that. If the short is because the solder under the chip bridged to another connection then the sonic cleaner will not help. I have a crest sonic cleaner and I hardly use it. Just my opinion.
@@northpoint1039 I see. Since the capillary effect will suck any liquid in proximity of a BGA under it, then the damage is impossible for an ultrasonic cleaner to dislodge.
@@repairtech9320 I think not so much that but when the chip heats up the solder might bridge over from one connection to another under the chip. Also the liquid will conduct if its under the chip. Reflowing the solder by heating the chip evaps (if you will) the liquid that might be underneath it and also correct any bridges under the chip. Thats just my opinion though.
I have a quesiton for you. I am working on a Lenovo Thinkpad E580. the shorted part has writtings on it but no part number. it looks like an IC with RFAHA written on it. any idea what that is? and where can I find one? thanks for your help

Please do a follow up on this model when you get the part in. There is alot of schools that could use more chromebook type-c motherboard repairs.

Those should have a socket instead of being soldered to the board. :)
Thank you for your videos, i would love to see your process for programming these chips, what hardware and software is required.
thanks master sorin.pls teach us how to programme the io chip.
Mulțumim Sorin urmăresc în fiecare zi munca ta . Felicitări @

Anyone know why he wears gloves for home repairs but not in his shop when doing repairs?
Sorin I think you have a dirty scope video lens it’s blurry around the white board markings and not very clear??
Back of finger is a great diagnostics tool of old like slinging solder, all prospects of being a true production component level technician..
Thank you once again very much.

Do you happen to know if the SIO MEC5085-LZX-3 is programmable? I did ask on the Discord forum but haven't gotten an answer yet.
Mam pytanie. Antyrefleks w mikroskopie to są specjalne soczewki z materiałem polaryzującym światło?
Are more laptops coming with more chips that require programming?

that uv light is very bad, see the screen with image on youtube...
Sorin
If there is liquid damage. Then the super IO can be damaged? Or is there something shorted under the chip?

I think you have some kind of automute on your microphone. Also in your shop. I don't like the sound go on and off.

I suggest joining the Discord server to ask. There are many knowledgeable people on there. The link is in the description of the video.
Sorin...."Story of my life - dead super io's"😟😕😯😲
Seems it's bond with your destiny..😁😀😂😆
What is the screwdriver you use?
It is called WOWSTICK SCREWDRIVER. Available on Amazon, though Banggood price is cheaper. They are low torque suited for laptop repairs.
@@xxycom8963 No, it's MINIWARE ES15.

So disappointed you have another awkward fix. I'm sure I'm not the only person who is willing you success in this venture.
