Comparing 3 pattern drafting techniques - Basic top pattern block (tight fit)

- I NEED A BASIC TOP PATTERN, but like most of you, I was overwhelmed by all the options out there. We all know this step is SO necessary if you want to design a top piece (and you're not good at draping like me, of course), so let's get over with it...
In this video I'll take you from the beggining till the end. We'll start by taking measurements, then I'll show you how to draw 3 different pattern options, I'll compare them and finally I'll tell you which one is my favorite. (There's a SUPER grand finale that took me like 5 hours to film and it's a little wink to "How I met your mother" for the fans out there). I had a lot of fun filming and editing this video hehe.
For the designs, I used three different books that I had at home and I changed some measurements that didn't make sense to me or that were too standard (I'm an Engineer so I like numbers, sorry). If you like the patterns or you want to try this yourself, I'll leave the names down below.

I suspect the reason these are so tight is because they do not have ‘ease’ in the patterns. Ease is necessary for movement, especially with woven fabrics and is typically added to the width of the garment.
Exactly!! And you gave me an idea for a future video, see how this patterns behave depending on the fabric so thank you so much☺️
Hi. This is the first time I have seen your videos. I really enjoyed the comparison and seeing the actual sew outs. Thank you for all the timer and effort you went through to make this video. I'll be looking at your other videos. Funny coincidence--you said you were mystified by sleeves and I just saw a video that explained the theory very well. It's the first time I've had a good understanding of why sleeves are drafted the way they are. I thought you might like too see it too. I hope it helps you, too. th-cam.com/video/9k7LBRdKzx0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XQFd5zWCLtCzLSbF

I prefer dilience
Excellent videos.. really dislike music.. it distracts our concentration.
Thank you so much!! Do you mean the low music during the videos, or the song at the end?? I never know if people prefer music or silence so I appreciate the feedback a lot ☺️
I sometimes listen to videos while I sew. I prefer the background music otherwise I feel like the video has stopped 😅
