I'm always on the lookout for things that have the potential to be something else. I love found objects and other bits and bobs because most things have more than one purpose if you look closely. I also try to reuse or upcycle because I don't have a lot of money to spend on pricey supplies. I often have to just make do with what I've got. Plus, it's a fun challenge to incorporate something I found in the "trash" (or any other place I happen to wander) into something that makes people stop and take a second look. Loving your work, Chris. For once, the algo sent me something good!
I'm so glad you're liking these videos! I couldn't have said it better-I love finding and figuring out creative ways of recycling used items into art.❤️
Hey Chris - I enjoyed this tutorial very much! Yes, I use recycled materials - ie. cardboard, burlap, cork, fabric scraps, etc. You have re-sparked my desire to get back to using some old-used canvases and doing some interesting experiments - THANK YOU!!! Please keep doing what you do!! 😊
Oh my goodness! Your technique for the boat was very urban sketch! I do tutorials from Toby Loose sketch, and your boats were in that wonderful style. I loved seeing both the abstract, free, eccentric feel of the art, combined with the wonderful urban/sketch you chose for the boats. I will definitely be trying this! Thanks for showing this.
Great piece and so fun. I like to use as creative materials things already around the house or barn. For example, wood shavings from a sailboat in the barn became hair for a mixed media sheep. Salmon bones are eyelashes. Pine needles are goat's beard. My housemate is teaching me to make frames using his miter saw, and of course, I just love old painted and chippy wood or barnwood planks. Also, collected things for future art- cat whiskers, sheepskin rug ringlets, old fringy fabric edges.... Next I'd like to press some flowers and also make handmade paper. It is sooooo fun playing with imagination! Thanks again for your inspiration, Chris.
Thanks so much, Carole! Your creativity with found materials is incredible-wood shavings as hair and salmon bones as eyelashes? Love it! Your creativity and desire to learn is truly inspiring! I'm slowly learning to build my own frames with a miter saw as well. "Measure twice, cut once" is definitely advice I need to follow a little more closely.🪚😅
Chris. I subbed! I enjoyed this very much and got so many cool ideas! Thank You so much! I also felt the Texas/Louisiana Gulf coast vibe when you first began! Loved It.
Great idea Chris. Made me think this netting would be a cool addition to a fruit/veg. inspired stillife - maybe even one of those annoying little stickers, but I diverge. Nice drawing!
Hi Chris! Very cool pic! Love that red netting and those little boats were perfect! I love how pictures just flow from the hands of artists like yourself. Thanks for sharing and for the ideas you always give. I have troubles in that I love abstract art but I also am a sanguine personality with a strong black and white streak. So I end up doing abstract things and then adding details that are small and zentangle like. Yikes! I don't know WHAT I am!🤪😂😂❤️
Thanks so much, Susan! Haha, I think WHAT you are is...an artist. You sound like me where it's hard to choose a lane for your art and you bounce around a little with styles and techniques. Create the art that makes you happy, even if you can't define it. 😁❤️
Love this work! I like to save thin cardboard for making small notebooks, or tiny journals, and oh my gosh, what don't I save? This was so enjoyable to watch.
Chris I use orange bag too , only I painted mine black and made a painting called " I Caught the Lock Ness Monster " turned out great , Linda Bailey from Corpus Christi Texas , love watching you work , hope you don't mind I copy some of your stuff.... lol....
Nicely done!! The closest I've gotten so far is to use as much of the wrapping paper from shipping as I can (e.g., Amazon) as collage paper either through deliberate approach or as a roll-off sheet during gel plate work.
Hey BM! It's so easy to overpaint/create, I do it quite often. I always have to remind myself to slow down and look at each piece. Easier said than done.😊

Great demo. Fantastic to recycle stuff into art 😊 thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you! It's quite fun trying to figure out how to recycle used items into art 😊👍
That is cool. Love that netting.
Thanks, Debbie! I love using netting like that. 😊

That’s awesome to hear, Shari! Using recycled materials always adds a unique twist, and I’m so glad the tutorial gave you that creative nudge.
I enjoyed this video Chris! I love using recycled items! Beautiful piece!
Thanks, Tracy! I love using them as well. My goal is to use more in my art where I can.

Thanks, Emily! Are you doing much with urban sketching? I'm having a blast playing and learning how to sketch that way.
Another great video, so glad I found you 🥰👍👍👍 UK
Thank so much, BM! I'm so happy to hear that!
Jednoduché a predsa ťažké. Ukážkové. Musíme chrániť prírodu. Vy to robíte umením.😊
Úplne súhlasím! Je toho toľko, čo vyhadzujeme, s čím môžeme vytvárať umenie.
Bonjour Chris 😊😊😊 j'adore ❤❤❤❤
Bonjour, Martine! Merci beaucoup ❤️

Great idea! Thanks!
Thanks, Kathe!

Thanks so much, Ann! That's a great idea about the netting. I have a little more left and might have to give that a try.❤️
Love the sticker idea too!❤

@@chrisloudart Thanks so much Chris! You have really encouraged me more than you know! Looking forward to your next video!🥰

Thanks, Kathy! We sound a lot alike, I probably save more than I should.

Thanks, Linda! That sounds like a great idea for a painting! Haha...I don't mind if you copy my stuff 😊
well done!!
Thanks, Judy!
So fun to watch! What paper do you use to paint on in your videos?
Thanks, Carrie! The paper I used on this one was Canson XL Series Oil and Acrylic paper amzn.to/3QzbVnZ
@chrisloudart thank you!

Thanks, D C! That's a great idea for using shipping material! I have just started playing with a gel plate and will give that a try.
Great idea for re-using!
I find it really hard to limit my use, want to overdo the piece ..but slowly learning 🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
