A fun way to create a target list. Love the thought process behind it. I do those types of exercises myself all the time- I just tend not to share them ha
Really enjoy your thought process, really well thought out. My thought process goes out the window when I see something I want and never knew I wanted it, lol!
Graig good video as always. a great thing about the hobby is I can enjoy it on my budget of ten dollars per month. a big purchase for me is twenty dollars. 5 grand my wife would kick me out. as a older collector in my late fifties I enjoy the image on the card more then nit picking over the grade and right away slabbing. dollar boxes keep me and many others collecting I think. thanks for letting me show a card . looking forward to the next one.
Yeah, yesterday I bought McDonald's for my family via door dash. It cost $61.10. That money could have went towards a baseball card or better food. Though the fish sandwich was edible. I think.
I like your approach. I could definitely look to be more targeted and learned from your process. It can help me get more goosebump cards instead of just filling in holes for my collection (not that I don’t get immense joy from filling in holes!!). Agree with you post National I am more excited after seeing all the incredible cards. I don’t know if you saw it but one of the auction houses (Memory Lane?) had a ‘52 Mathews in a PSA 8.5. Seeing a card that tough look that nice - WOW!
Good video Graig! I am currently working on my list for a small show that happens near me a couple of times a year. Not a lot of vendors, but three solid vintage vendors. I bought my first Mantle from one of them last year. I love having a written list, but constantly updating the notebook gets a little messy, even when using a pencil.
Great want list! There was a bit of overlap with what I was looking for. I also made a list beforehand with multiple grade prices, but on the notes app on my phone. The Musial rookie I got was from Ash!
interesting putting all the grade/prices on paper in case internet down… I mostly let the card come to me at a show and just buy something I did not know I was going to buy.. but I always have those high end vintage names I look for at every show and pick up some as well...
Hey buddy. It looks like you stole my list! Haha. We have very similar tastes in cards, well except I’m not refined enough to have any Pirate cards! 😊 I do have a few Clemente’s though! Does that count!?
Graig, I just won two great vintage cards in a card lottery run by Nick Egnatz. Can I include them in your next card acquisition monthly report. A 55 Bowman Roy Campanella (SCG grade 5) and a Topps 56 Micky Mantle (SCG grade 4).your customers should be aware of his vintage card lotteries. Last he had a top prize of 51 Bowman rookie. This was the first time in five attempts that I won anything of significance.
@@MidLifeCards Hello Graig. I enlisted my girlfriend in finding out how to send you the photos of the two cards that I won in Nick Egnatz’s card lottery. But it was beyond her limited tech awareness too. I am 70 and she is 69. Can I just have Nick himself (or his more tech savvy wife) send you the two photos. His current lottery has an Aaron rookie and a 53 Mantle as the two top prizes. Both are grade two.
Question???? When attending a huge show like the National, and picking up a big card, say 1k +. What are the payment options available that dealers are willing to accept. Large amounts of cash always seems too risky to me, with the large crowds. Do dealers frown upon payments other than cash? Thanks Graig
Some of the dealers accept Venmo or pay pal. I don't know the exact ratio or split, however, for dealers that accept cash only. At my local card show, it's cash only. But it's a much smaller show.
That's a good question. Generally there are better deals with cash. Many will accept Paypal and others similar forms of payment, but sometimes they will ask you to cover the fees included. Depends on the dealer. I have a lot of friends that paid only in cash and others paid only with Paypal.
Hey there Graig this was a while back but the first time you shared Ash's web site info I checked it out and ended buying a 1970 Topps O.J. Simpsin SGC 7 rookie card. I felt he had it listed at a very fair price so I didn't even try to talk him down plus bonus no sales tax. I made this purchace a the right time right before O.J. died and his cards spiked for a minute. Just curious what app do you use to comp cards? I have tried a few different ones always curious what apps people are useing, I normally ask people when I am at shows. I trusted Market Movers for the National and I wasn't able to comp 1 single card the whole time I was there big bummer. I reached out to them afterwards and got the runaround. I have canceled my subscription with them I know it wasn't completely their fault because of the horrible wifi at the National. Not a big fan of that pompas Jeff Wilson I should have stuck with Card Ladder they have never let me down. Oops!
Personally, I have two Apps: Card Ladder and Market Movers. I think both do a good job. I know some people may not be a fan of Geoff Wilson, but I think his app and the charts are really good.
@@MidLifeCards Thanks for your reply I do like charts on Market Movers too I guess I can’t blame them for the spotty WiFi at the National. But for the record Geoff Wilson is a Deuch it seems like the only thing he cares about is how expensive everything in his collection is.
where in the heck to Ash get those GREAT vintage cards !!! ??? Do you know the situation on Ash cards being stolen at the dallas show ? I’ve not seen any follow up videos of what happened and if he got them back ?
a video like this is 30 minutes… i cant and believe many cannot watch a 30 minute video. please break these up into like three 10 munites vides… I’d watch all of them . but only watch like 10 mins at a time of a sports card video…..
I totally respect that. There's no doubt that my channel and style is not for everyone. Breaking videos up into chunks is great. I do that with other people's longer videos, myself!!
@@MidLifeCards I got to watch the rest of this video which I usually dont do but I did becuase u responded to me.. so I did watch it all.. and enjoyed it… the sammy baugh card stuck with me as I own his early day cards.. slingin sammy baugh...
Great list Graig, in 2 weeks Ash will be at the White Plains show so can't wait to attend that show, NY Lou
Good luck. I'm sure you'll pick up some big ones!!
Loving all this daily content. Driving to a local card show now, and get to listen to my friend Graig talk cards along the drive.
Awesome!! I hope you two grab some sweet deals!!
This will be a great month on your channel to show our July pickups! The National always brings in fantastic purchases!
I totally agree. I'm really looking forward to it!!
I love how much overlap there is in our lists. I swear Ash is trying bankrupt me.😂 He always has amazing stuff!
100% agree.
Great information on Ash. I love to see what he has. Thanks !
Glad you enjoyed it Don!!
Wow, you hand wrote a spreadsheet? That was smart. Good stuff, Graig!
It ended up working out great!!
A fun way to create a target list.

:-) Thanks Jake.

LOL. It's so hard to stay focused.
Graig, we are going after some of the same cards! You know what that means! Future dream card clubbies!🤯🤯
I can’t wait!!
Good video - I agree on the 53 B Spahn. One of my top 5 cards for eye appeal.
It's a simply GORGEOUS image.
Hi Greg. Great stuff, love seeing what Ash is carrying. talk soon pal.
Thanks my friend.

There's a price point that works for everyone.

Thanks so much.

There were some absolutely massive cards, one of which was that Memory Lane card. Part of the fun of the National is the museum component.
To me its like a sports Disneyland. The rides are a wee bit more expensive but you get to keep the ride.
Good point!!

Slowly but surely....that's part of the fun of the whole hobby.
Great stuff Graig. Mel Ott was awesome, I believe only 1 of 2 players w 500 hrs before 1955
He is one of the most overlooked players of all time.

Congrats on the Musial. Such a great card.

Being open minded to whatever cards show up, can be a good way to get great deals.

Clemente is a pirate!! So, heck yeah he counts!! LOL.
Regarding the LagacyCardz.... The price stickers are just a bit too small to make out anything.
Sorry about that. If there are specific cards you're interested in, maybe you can check them out on his website.

He buys lots of collections. So far, they have not caught the thieves.
I havent had much success with trades at card shows. Seems more people want to just buy & sell
Trading is fading out, but it still happens from time to time.
You had to drop this video just before the start of a US Olympic soccer game? It's halftime now. I'll come back for you.
