One thing I personally would be curious about is which action camera's you can also use as a webcam. I know some have this option when you plug it in your PC with an USB cable. Do you think that mostly depends on the chipset? Especially in these times it would be great to use it like that, especially if the quality is any good.
Probably beats any webcam built-in to a laptop or all-in-one PC anyway, I imagine, since they suck ;-)
Hey Guido, this is a very valid point, and unfortunately only a few of these actioncams support the feature at the moment. I think GoPro have recently brought this as an update. I am sure that more and more cam makers will enable such a feature.
If the laptop has a 1080p sensor, it might actually be good for teleconferences because of the smaller pixel density.

Fantastic video technically. If I had to find fault, it would be the sound which is not always perfect, but I'm being very critical. You will get better. Image stabilization is key for an action camera. The GoPro hero 10 has gone to another level of winner, so budget might not make it for me. I might just be patient and go with the best. Having said that bull, the price is so good that I might get this akaso to practice and use as a backup for the GoPro. I hate having only one of anything because everything can break and you never want to have nothing in any situation. Thanks for the very complete video. Have fun.

Budget actioncams are getting less and less in the past years, so good to see Akaso maintaining their product line.
This is my first action camera and I’m hoping it will turn out great for what I need it for but for now, this is my start.

Good review. Focus on the processor. I believe brave 7 le is good for secondary if you are a motovlogger. The front screen is good to check if you have a good angle.

Wow! That's a great review! It surprised me that despite the IPX7 certification you were actually able to submerge it without any issue! Does it mean AKASO didn't bother to get an higher certification (let's say IP65) despite the camera is able to?
I'm not that familiar with their certifications - but they advertise the camera as being able to handle water well 😇
I'd prefer IPX7 over IP65, as the 7 indicates a higher level of water resistance. IPX8 would be higher still.
Anyone know why this is better than the campark v40 or x40??

What is the external mic recorder you were using in the video with the Akaso Brave 7LE action cam? What is the brand? How do you connect it?
I use lavalier microphone connected to Zoom H1 - and then sync that with the video in post production.
I noticed in the video you started to unscrew the outer protective lens. Does the protective lens unscrew if someone happened to crack it?
You can unscrew and replace it if needed, yes.
@@TechMishka The Brave 7 LE version is solid and the only way to replace it would be to pry the faceplate off and replace it with another one. The new Brave 7 has an unscrewable outer lens like the OSMO Action.

Great camera , i snagged one off of amazon , it was on sale for 152.00 canadian...lol The pics look great and 1080p is all i need , could care less about 4k ect.

I checked the review too but I would like to know, I plan to use this cam on my Top Case during motorcycle road trip in order to record landscapes during ride. The main parameter which interesting me is the image quality (not especially 4K) I saw comparative videos (3 cam displayed) images have very close quality for a non expert eye ^^' which one would you recommend me for my use please ? Brave 7 LE or V50X ? Thanks in advance ! :)
Take the one with the best price, make sure to record with clean lens in no more than 30FPS. Any of them will be good.

I"m having a terrible time with wind noise using my camera. I've tried mic foam over the mic holes on the camera and nothing. I'm thinking about trying small wind muffs next. Another other suggestions for this problem? Thanks.
Try to get a complete foam case - sometimes helps a lot.

I was considering this camera. A lot of the YT vids are just following the hype. Akaso makes it sound like new tech. The old processor undermines that. It's too bad about the stabilization, that was what I wanted. If someone needs basic waterproofing or a front screen, this is probably a good deal. But the camera part seems flawed. Akaso has too many models to be taken seriously. Thank you.
They seem to try to release a lot of options in order to satisfy more people. I also would prefer seeing them focused on less devices with more features.
Great review. I own this camera and I like it. However I can't find any answer to this. Do the silicone sleeves to protect it prevent audio from being recorded??? I am looking at doing this and attaching it to my life vest for my kayaking
Most silicone sleeves have cuts around the mics - so it should be OK. But yeah - if there's something in the way of the mic, it will of course be blocking some sounds.

Thanks bro! They are still selling them on amazon but they list it as having been in their inventory for a little over a year but you made me realize the camera is 15 year old tec. and I wasn't impressed by the footage.
I ordered one of these since junky gopro hasn't sent my replacements for their junky 8 that overheats and shuts of all the time causing me to lose quality footage, wasting my time and money. Once I get this one in, run it through it's paces for my purposes, the GoPros will be sold. I don't have a need for 4k or 5k. 1080 is enough for most people due to most videos being watched on such small screens

I have a Sony AS50 and its great but thought maybe the Akaso Brave 7 LE would be a step up is this not the case ? Also seen a GoPro Hero 6 Black which is a recon from GoPro for a good price would this be a step up from my Sony or just keep the Sony
Sony action cameras are really good. The Hero 6 will be better in terms of user experience.
Does the Image Stabilization work with 1080 60 fps?
It does. Not that good though.

Most welcome, Samantha. To be on the safe side - buy a Sandisk Exreme. Most U3 MicroSD cards should be fine.
Regarding under water shooting, With the DJI you have the quick switch button.

The Hi3559 is way better than I catch, but they don's manufacture it anymore as far as I know. As for I afe sensors - imx078 is very, very old

Hey mate - they are comparable. I like the V50X a little more just because I prefer HiSilicon chipsets (the V50X has such inside.)

Hmmm, both are okayish for a starter. Given the fact 7LE is a little newer - I'd go for it myself.
You can check some sencd hand Osmo Action generation 1 cameras - they are really good.

Does it save an hour of footage or does it break up into a bunch of 8 minute clips? I heard the app stitches them together for you is this true?
There are many apps that can stitch multiple videos into one. And as mentioned in another comment - it is a limitation implied by the Fat32 file system.
At 9:46, Much brighter and better video with low light with EIS off ?
Yes - it has to do with the way EIS works. It utilizes the shutter speed and increases it, so that it can make sure the stabilization is better. If you shut it off, the camera will use lower shutter speeds, which result into more light reaching the sensor. That's a general rule for most action cameras.

Once you solidly cross the $100 price point ($139 for AKASO Brave 7 LE here today in Dec. 2020), it just doesn't make sense to not get the BEST, an Osmo Action at $199. It's image stabilization IMO is better than GoPro and photos are WAY better. Rocksteady in Osmo is simply the state of the art, but I'm going with its 360 competitor, the Insta360 One X2 which lets you get all the fun of 360 filming, crazy editing capability and similar image stabilization.
To me, anything other than those two cameras will lead to future disappointment until we have new cameras come out that are better...
The menus on this camera look very much like the Yi 4K, so wonder if the internals are the same.
The internals of the 7 LE are definitely not the same as the Yi 4K. Not even close.

You can actually change mods on the GoPro with buttons as well.
overall for it's price actually I'd say with all what it comes with, it's awesome! even with all it's downsides
If I'd need to buy an action camera now, I'd go with the GoPro still, I have some issues on how the Insta works, and I prefer the GoPro quality over the DJI Osmo, but if my main goal would be to vlog, Osmo is probably better choice.
Which reminds me, rumors say the GoPro 9 will have a front screen as well :-)
Very much agree to what you say. And the GoPro has not too intensive codec compression, making it easier to edit.

yeah, Aputure a.lav. No longer available. I think the newer edition is called v.Lav.
