Wow awesome, I've literally just finished the plastic model cockpit on this and feel like I need to throw it in the bin now.

Outstanding cockpit. I never used Aqua Gloss inside cockpit. Thanks for the hint.

What to say?! Super skills for this iconic aircraft. If this is the beginning wondering how the end will look like.

Mr. Assassin you do a high caliber job. Incredible work. Something of this difficulty would assassinate me haha. One day I would like to see you do something in 1/32 and modern.

Haha thank you. I appreciate hearing what viewers want to see as well. There will be more builds in the future for sure.

@@ScaleModelAssassin yeah I am collector of 1/32. So far I have Tamiya 1/32 F-16CJ and F-15E Strike Eagle. Also have a Trumpeter F/A-18F Super Hornet and of course an Academy F-4 Phantom that was just released two weeks ago. Just have to find time to start them haha.

I just got my P-51C from the model shop and am stunned and super inspired by your video!
    Two questions:
Did you spray a matte coat over everything in the end?
    And
How could you know when you uploaded the video, that only about 30% would watch it until then? 😂 Joking!
Do you mix your own washes? If yes, how would I do it? I’ve got zero experience with oil colours.
Great tutorial, thanks for sharing! 🙏🏼

Hey! good to hear you enjoyed the video. Yes, I sprayed a matte coat over the entire model at the end. IMO for a plane that doesn't need a mirror finish, I don't feel like the matte coat detracts from the NMF. Also, I like the added layer of protection. For the 30% question (lol), I can see all sorts of statistics from videos I've posted and historically, that's about how many are left watching at the end.
I do mix my own oil washes. I use odorless mineral spirits and any old oil paint will work although I just happen to use Abeilung. I mix small batches as needed in a plastic (or metal) dish, and then discard what I didn't use during the session. Its a bit of guesswork on the ratio of paint : thinner, but if you've purchased washes in the past, just try for that level of consistency/fluidity. If it doesn't flow thru your panel lines, just mix in more thinner. Oil washes (and oil paint in general) are very slow to dry. You can easily wipe away excess a few minutes to a few days later. I generally use a dry paper towel, but if there's a stubborn spot, sometimes Ill dampen it with mineral spirits.

    Nicely built and painted!
The plastic cockpit seems good enough for me, I rather buy another kit than the resin - though it really looks nice.. ;)

Lol yeah it does add quite a bit of time onto the build and is unfortunately mostly hidden in the end

Hey another question just about to get the fuselage sealed up and The photo etched radiator part, pe 42 is no where near the size it needs to be I was wonder ing what you did for that?

    • @ScaleModelAssassin
      @ScaleModelAssassin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I think the part you are asking about is visible at 5:31. I put it further back inside the intake and glued it in place on 1 of the fuselage halves before sealing the both together. Took me a bit to figure out how this was supposed to go in there because I thought it odd that it was so small too....I think I got it right.

That's a finely detailed cockpit. If this is an indication of what's to come - I gotta see this!! Thanks Assassin
