Same problem with that pcv. I actually cracked mine using pliers. Never could get the hose attached to the Dinan pipe at all. I assumed I was doing some wrong and swapped back to the oem pipe. The pcv attached with near zero force. So of course I tried the Dinan pipe again. No joy. Called Dinan and they were awesome and they provided me a new pipe to try. Yes I even cut the tab off of the pcv connector. Still no joy. In any event I’m curious how much trouble you both really had getting the pcv to attach to the Dinan pipe? Note I did replace the pcv hose and am currently running the oem inlet pipe. Really would like to give the Dinan one another try but don’t want to break that pcv hose connector again. Any guidance on where to squeeze that connector to get it off? As the oem pipe allows the hose to snap on with near zero force I assume something is so very slightly off on the length or diameter of the male attachment of the Dinan unit. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
@@mikem2074 Thanks for the comment. I will say that getting my pcv hose to slide on the Dinan intake tube was not a problem, it slid on with a bit of jiggling between the two. I have nothing to compare it to, since I only ever uninstalled that pcv connector, never back onto the stock unit. The only thing I can suggest is to attempt that reconnection before the intake tube is mounted so that you can easily wiggle them around to ensure the correct angle to slide it on. Take your time and proceed with confidence my friend! Maybe a little bourbon for the nerves! :)
@@mikem2074I had the same issue trying to connect the pcv to the dinan inlet and became very irritated. It just would not click, but I started to mess around with the angle and it finally connected. If you press the pcv on the inlet and it doesn't catch, just keep rotating the inlet and it will snap on. However, you can't connect it to the turbo first as you won't be able to rotate or move it as needed. Once the pcv snaps on then you can connect it to the turbo.
Nice video. that's crazy that dinan doesn't just send the inlet with in o ring already installed. is the filter element a dry filter that you can spray clean and let it dry or is it the dry or oiled kind that you gotta buy a replacement for every once in a while?
You have a choice of filters when you order the CAI. I chose an oiled version. You can see the filter at the 13:00 minute mark of my install video here: th-cam.com/video/LdNSSRpCDnc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-DGv2NiDhP2p8pj5
Any issues with the inlet after multiple drives? I want to do this on my F30, I already have the Dinan intake. I’m just wondering if the inlet will cause a boost leak or melt after a couple hundred miles. I know this is an old vid but would appreciate the feedback. Thanks
No of course not. You have nothing to worry about. Please understand it's Dinan. Steve Dinan, who's company was purchased by DPB, who also owns Holley.. Then he started up again with CarBahn. He is an engineer that has been designing high quality performance parts for BMW, Audi and Mercedes since 1979, not a cheap eBay or Amazon part from China.
@@The_Sword_Rules thanks, I was eventually able to get it off by randomly squeezing and pulling, but I'm not sure what the expected removal process is. The intake with turbo inlet sounds great on this motor!
None of my turbo cars have ever made turbo noises in park, with the hood open. The engine needs to be under load to spool it up. From inside the car while driving, the stock twin scroll turbo on the B58 is too quiet. The only noise that was amplified after making this change was the blow off.
@@The_Sword_Rulesreally. I currently have a stock g23 with the b48 and my turbo is insanely loud. I also have a g20 and I noticed that it makes zero engine noise. Even though both cars have the same engine different year. I was wondering if you noticed any difference is sound or sound quality with this inlet upgrade?
Great video, that will help me alot. Im about to install it. Im currently stage 2, do you think i will need to rewrite my tune? Im Using multi map mhd.
I've no experience with MHD, but I'm wondering, do you have that tuner on a 2021 or newer B58? I didn't think the ECUs were flashable. At any rate, Dinan says nothing about having to change the tunes for this unit. So I'm not worrying about it. It sounds better and seat of the pants feels better. So I guess it's getting more air, but the sensors should be compensating for it.
@@The_Sword_Rules just tried to install today. I couldnt disconnect the connector. I have no Fing idea how lol. Bmw likes to complicate evrything 🤣 Im very disapointed tho
@@ai3270 Sorry to hear that! Mine has a plastic ring that I can squeeze like it's a childproof bottle top, ya know? It has raised ridges to indicate where to squeeze it, then pull it off while squeezing.
I finally swapped the dinan inlet but I think I smelled burnt oil or something after driving it for few minutes. Is that normal or did you experience it? I don't know if it has to do with the carbon fiber material.
That did not happen to me. You may have some oil that dripped from the turbo onto the exhaust during the install. Drive it like you stole it for a bit. If it continues, have it checked.
Yes I think so, too. I think oil might have spilled on the exhaust during the removal or installationn of the turbo inlet. I'll drive it for sometime she hope it goes away on it's own
Great upgrade Dean!
Thank you Tim!
Great work, i had such a tough time taking that pcv breather hose off the stock inlet.
Thank you! Yeah, I couldn't get it off by squeezing the plug with my fingers, I had to use a needle nose pliers. I think I forgot to mention that!

Nope.
