Jason Becker - Perpetual Burn (guitar cover)

- Been a while, thought I better check in.
I've been working on this cover by the legendary Jason Becker for quite some time now, and it's definitely the most challenging thing I've learnt to date. I was pretty intrigued after seeing Jeff Loomis's version of the song, so I gave it a go and here's the result! I know it's not 100% accurate to the original, but I figured out as much as I could.
If you're wondering why the mask is gone, I thought it to be pretty pointless to continue with it now that my channel has been renamed, and I'm certain that if anybody had the desire to see what I looked like they would have looked me up already.
I know I also said that you wouldn't see me doing any more covers, but I've decided that if a song tickles my fancy then I'll do a cover. It was more the cover requests that I don't like doing.

From what I remember, it was just the "Funky Lead" tone that's under the low gain menu. May have given it a touch more gain.

Yeah man - just found this too. Back when Cacophany came out I was blown away! I couldn't believe Jason Becker was only 17. I have his DVD "Not Dead Yet" and it's amazing what he does with the computer. A true virtuoso!

@@hell13hound13 You are off your rocker. Even he knows it's nowhere near Jeff's cover and admits that it is not accurate. I can count at least 50 mistakes in this take. I cannot count any in Jeff's.

How does someone dislike this. Just pure talent. Some people are such morons. A fan of the music or not, credit where credit is due should be what people live by.
Something I've noticed about my favourite guitar players is that they all have something unique about their playing that makes it identifiable even while listening without the knowledge of who is actually playing. I just listened to Embodiment and realized that your playing has that quality as well.

Same you dude, since this month I have committed to do a cover of this but wouldn't give much shit on the TAB and finger position etc, I, you , we are not jason becker but try to give our best not ony becuase of our craze for him but aso showed others our feelings, paying homage and respect to Jason and the like minded fans and followers etc. This cover is not quite its excellents I did and a play back of Jasons thing while listening of it to ensure that this is not a faster tempo. Because that it is what is ringing to ears till date. How much this song speaks of Jason and his talents and those who covers, now there comes a great scope of dispassionate criticism and space discussion. Man this is the best job I have seen so far. Please do other jason's thing as well. HAts off to you man.

It took me a while to discover that that masked TH-cam dinosaur I saw as a child was you and funny, as it may seem that my dream came true with a lot of effort.
I've watched so many others trying to cover this song and I have to say you nail it better than anyone else I've seen especially the beginning which most don't get right…just awesome dude…Jason would be proud!!!!

Hey Finn. Thanks for sharing that my man. That's an 11 on the difficulty to play scale of 1 to 10. Jason Becker was such a young man when he wrote and played this and this shows how great a virtuoso he was. You put major time and effort into that one. I definitely enjoyed watching you playing that live.
