- From my full-length Brian May cover released last year, this is my attempt at Edward’s guitar solo performance, isolated from the full track. Minus one punch (a particular phrasing quirk which I still feel that I never really quite got “right”), this was otherwise a one-take performance, having seared that solo into my memory some years ago. Here, I also panned the guitar hard left and the reverb hard right, a nod to the very first Van Halen album.
The tone, the groove, the chops, the overall vibe -- you have captured the essence of Edward Van Halen so completely. The left pan with the reverb on the right channel is just the icing on the cake. So good Deyan! 🤘🤘👍👍💛💛
🙏 Thank you, Mike. That is such a high compliment, especially from you. Even if I don’t feel quite worthy of it, I will happily take it! 😆
NICE!!!
Thank you! 🙏
Great video!!
Thank you, Angela! 🙏
That tone thooooookough…….😮😮😮😮😮😮❤❤❤❤❤❤
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I have given this several listens now, and it is genuinely impressive. I will never be able to play like that, and it must be really something to get it all down like that - the shredding, the sound, the vibe. Stellar! I look forward to the next.
Aww shucks! Mighty kind of you to comment this. I don’t quite feel able to offer an intelligible reply, other than my sincerest thanks. If you know any others who might like it, please share! 🙏
Your full-length cover properly blew me away, but hearing that beautiful Frankenstrat isolated here really drives it home! No hiding... Just you, your axe, and the spirit of Eddie flying from your fingers. After your epic performance first time around, where do you go from there? Wherever you go, and whatever you play, it will no doubt be stellar just the same. 🤘🤘🤘
So kind. 🙏 And very high praise indeed from you, Sean. Many things are in the works, including some ambitions of a more “epic” scale.
I sure hope it will be something along these lines (which has your name and style all over it!): th-cam.com/video/BsJisD7n8_Q/w-d-xo.html@@DeyanBratic
Along those lines, yes. 😊
Freakin' awesome!
Thank you sir! 🙏
Deyan, old guitar friend, it has been too long. Your rendition, your tone and your overall style is amazing, Superb video!! Keep on playing
Thank you, Neil! Your words carry great weight, my friend!
Of course, please do take it as value from a trained classical guitarist who has been playing for 15-20 years. I recently brought a blue Fender Stratocaster and am inspired to start practicing again from this video!
Brilliant! That is awesome to read, Neil!
😳Shockingly without the backing track the solo actually sounds like a bunch of splice up licks trying to relate to each other.
Excellent comment, and I think I understand what you mean. He had such a vast catalog of his own phrases and patterns that it seemed he could effortlessly connect any of them together off the cuff in a single solo take, regardless of whether or not the individual components seemed to have much musically in common with one another. Removing the backing track does seem to highlight this, but I guess in the end I just still love hearing him do it in his inimitable way!
udri brate!!!
