I dont usually give comment on any video just a thumb but your video made me do both. Simple jig but powerful tool to make tenons! Looking forward on your next project.
Thank you for making it much easier to make . With the measurements it will help me make one much better than I last e tempted. I only do carpentry has an hobbyist but love making things .
Thank you. Simple straight forward and no music. Appreciate you not going from shot to shot at warp speed & turning down the sound when using power tools. It is nice to simply listen and understand.
I have improvized many of these, but I started to make this one now for a long-term solution. Clean and simple, with only the most necessary add-ons. Good footage too. Straightforward and efficient. Thank you.
Wow I'm only a hobby woodworker bit this for a project i was doing and it worked a treat even managed to cut the mortise also and all from shop scrap brilliant pal
I am only do carpentry has an hobby and the way you have explained how to do it will make it so easier for me now I have all the measurements. By the way great name you have.
Thanks very much for designing and building a very useful jig. I have some tenons to cut in some large hardwood stock and think this method should work to make the task easier.
I just like Anth’s detailed instructions as he goes along in the video. So easy to follow and understand. Great videos. Love that Geordie accent. Cheers from Houston
Very nice and simple jig; I made one and I love it. I'm getting crisp and accurate tenons with this thing. I made the strips that butt up the against workpiece on the underside of the board ca. 1 cm wider in that part (up to the square hole in the jig). That way, the side of the workpiece will sit 1 cm away from the edge of the hole, and the router bit will clear the entire width of the workpiece, which is useful for when I only put 2 shoulders on a tenon. I've also made sure that those guiding strips are dead square in relation to the edge that guides the router bit bearing.
Interesting to see how you made this, as I have just made a jig for the same purpose, but approached it completely differently than you. I mounted my router in a carriage that slides out using good quality ball bearing drawer rails, and I cut across the wood. great jig, thanks.
BIG Thumbs 👍 Thank you so much for making something so simple and explaining everything so well. I am a brand new owner of a trim router and I am so excited to see such a well thought out and simple jig!
Thank you, I was looking por a simple jig that I could make with tools a non professional has at home. This project complies with that. Greetings from Argentina. Edit: thumbs UP and suscribed!
Very informative and step by step instructions. Anyone following your instructions cannot go wrong. Really well thought out and simple. Will definitely give it a try. Thanks a lot

Nice, I like it. One question - do you have any thoughts how a jig could be made that creates a tenon with rounded corners? My current process is to make a square-cornered tenon and then sand it down, but it’s a bit imprecise and not very quick so I’ve been wondering how a jig could be made to help out?
Hi personally I just round them with a sharp chisel. I've also used them square on rounded mortises as the rounded space is good for glue squeeze out. Both methods are as strong as each other. I know trend do a jig for doing the rounded mortise and matching tennon although it costs around £200. Thanks for the comment cheers Anth.
Cheers for the sub. The is a supplier called Quay timber ne6 2xx is the post code. They do all timber plus reclaimed, so plenty of choice. Hope that helps Cheer Anth
Very good video Anth. I will purchase the materials and get it built this week. I was looking for a practical solution (jig) for making tenons and this video solved my dilemma. Keep up the good work!
Hi Dave Im busy with the website at the moment So I've updated the link to my Google drive. So you can now view the jig from there. Give me a shout if you get stuck. Cheers Anth
Hi many thanks for the video. Im sure I'll use the jig a lot. One thing I dont know - what is a template following router bit? A picture would be great. Many thanks again.
Love it - thanks for the clear walkthrough. I am new to woodworking and found myself wondering if a simple routertable setup might be a faster option? (I am thinking it might involve less clamping, but dont know what I dont know, so it might be less safe or less accurate?) Subscribed. :)
Hi thanks for the comment and sub. I would normally use a router table as it is quicker and more accurate. The draw back is having a dedicated router for the table. But as long as you have the space for a router table that'll definitely be the best option. I made this jig for people with limited funds and space hopefully that's answered few questions. Cheers Anth
Thank you I've been working on a Mortice jig to work along side the tenon jig. The trick is to make it as simple as possible and thyats the hard bit. Cheers Anth
This is very cool! Really appreciate the plans, as well. I don't have a table saw and have tried cutting tenons in the band saw with mixed results. I have a project in work that requires about 30 tenons of the same size and I think it's well worth the time to make on of these. Subscribed! Thanks!
Thanks for the video! I was wondering whether it's possible to cut the mortises with the Katsu router. I'm trying to figure out whether I can get away with it as my first router or I should go for a bigger one.
Hello, Yes you can cut the mortice's with the katsu although you would need a plunge base for it. Routers are very cheap now. If it were me I would go for plunge router which is the bigger type..
Hi I’ve just taken up carpentry in retirement. I love your tenon jig but in the description I think I missed the third dimension for the size of the hole. I had the 50mm from the sides and 125mm from the the top but I need the dimension from the bottom or am I missing something.🤔 Thanks for a great video.
Thank God someone uses metric. Why can't us yanks switch? I don't do woodworking in fractions. Metric, I can do the math in my head without burning out a brain cell. Nice jig ,good video, I'll be making one of these. Thanks
Thank you so much for the comment I'm an old school engineer and was educated in fractions it took a while to adjust to metric but so pleased I did. There is a detailed sketchup model with measurement on my website which is free If you was a copy the link is in the description.
