I'm putting together a palette for myself and I'd like to know if you think it's necessary to have Neutral Tint and Payne's Gray in the same palette. I discovered your channel today and I'm amazed by your talent for landscapes. Congratulations!

      Thank you!
If I had to choose between Paynes Grey and Neutral Tint, I would pick Paynes Grey all day and not bother with neutral tint.
You can also explore using black on your palette, and mixing that with various blues for Paynes Greys.
Btw! If you wouldnt mind checking out my Patreon below. Liking and subbing helps this channel grow!

I picked my tube in the store because I really liked the color it displayed on the tube. Was confused and disappointed when it was not at all like pictured, but now I'll give it another chance.
Still wondering why they woud label the tube so differently though

Thanks for this one, I’ve never really given the van Gogh Davys a proper chance, to be honest! I got it about a year ago probably now, it wasn’t what I was expecting and so I put it down after playing with it very briefly. After watching your video, I just put some out on my pallet and I’m also going to compare my neutral tint collection,(Windsor newton, Daniel Smith, Sennelier,& a few other off brand randoms) Some thing I’ve been meaning to do for a while and just never got around to it! My all-time favorite gray is “Joseph Z’s cool grey” by Daniel S.(PB96,PV19,PBk6) It is an incredible cool neutral that you can do a lot with! If you get a chance to pick up a tube, I promise you will not be sad about the price!
Great videos though, and again thank you for getting me to rethink previous decisions! LOL! Sorry I have not been able to keep up the last couple months, work!😡 But I will slowly making my way through all of your uploads I’ve missed for sure! Maybe not too slowly😜

@@AndrewBroussardWatercolors Thanks brother, I absolutely have been getting, slowly, back up into it! I am horrible at posting things but as soon as I finish a couple of things I’m attempting and as long as they come out at least semi-decent, lol, I’ll definitely tag you!

I am not a fan of Davys grey. Let's see you teach me a million ways to use it.
Whoa, your davys grey and mine are way different. I wonder if I got a miss labeled tube. Mine is winsor & Newton pro. Mine looks like daniel smith's buff tit with a hint more yellow. Yours is pretty and subtle. Almost like a German green.

Down the line I can try and explore and compare davy's grey. I should research the original formula for it.
also buff titan mixed with either a yellow / blue might be an interesting idea. More opaque and pack more of a punch.

A lot of davys greys and Paynes grey vary heavily between brands. They're my favorite colors and I have several brands of each for different reasons, I'd definitely say dip your toes into other brands (Rembrandts is really nice too)
