    Love the Paint Show. It is my favorite. I think showing the paint with a painting demo is really important. That shows the way the paint works and how it looks in real use. Thanks for another cool paint review.

      Agreed, thank you so much (:
      I'll try to always incorporate at least a small demo.

    You can try what is my favorite. A little hint of phaelo turquoise and a “lot” of neutral tint. It makes a great shadow for ocean water.

    Love your little crow! I think this gave me a better feel for what this paint can do. I also liked it glazed over the lower left (magenta?) color.
    Thanks, Liron! Your talent and knowledge is growing by leaps and bounds, and your willingness to share it with the rest of us is a joy to behold!

    I really like the painting because it allows me to see the color in use. I don't think I have enough experience to know what to do with it otherwise. Thank you.

    Neutral Tint is to be used in very small doses to mute a colour.

      I would not include this one in a minimal set.

    Contamination doesn’t matter overall when painting but you would think when doing color studies (when you were testing the darkening of the greens) that you would want to start with a clean palette. It irks my OCD so much 😂😂 Working on top of all of that dried paint is going to change the mix completely. No offense. I love your painting style and loose approach.

    How do you get your schmincke paints? I have a very old set of it and I really want to buy a new one but there is no store in Israel selling them that I know of... By the way thank you so much for recommending arta and w&n paints to me! I went there a few days ago and the paints I got are very very nice! I am going to mai art next week too as I need to go to dizengoff center anyway. Also, you are my favorite youtuber at the moment! I love your content!

      I believe there's a store in Eilat street, Jaffa that is the official importer of Schmincke in Israel.
      Perhaps it's פנינה לאמן?
      In any case - they should be available.
      I was lucky enough to have Schmincke send me some to review when I was in Paris 😁🎨

      I knowwwwwww. Omg it makes me CRINGE. I would never ever ever do that. It’s fascinating to me how artists are so different though. Also... I love how easy it is to clean dried paint. So maybe that’s why he isn’t that worried about it. Also, he paints in a looser style so color accuracy and bold colors aren’t necessarily a big factor to him

    Daniel Smith and Winsor & Newton use Pthalo Blue, Quinacridone Violet and Lamp Black. Daniel Smiths is semi-transparent while W&N is opaque. I have both but I use DS more.

    Just found you. Hi Liron newby in watcolrs. Why do you /artists prefer pans vs the tubes ?

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Easier for me to work with, and you can have a regular supply of fresh paint! (still slightly moist, easily diluted etc)

  • @marysu4

    I really prefer the Daniel Smith Neutral tint because it is not reddish. On the brochure page the bottom entry is one of my favorite Schmincke colors, Payne's Grey Bluish which is a wonderful broody dark! (When I ordered it they didn't have a half pan so I got the full pan thinking, "I'll never live long enough to use all this paint!" Once I actually saw it in action my mind was changed!)

    I have Daniel Smith Neutral Tint in my collection. I don't use it a lot; but, it seems to work to dull down some of the really bright pigments and that could be why Daniel Smith recommends it for shadows. Normally, when I am creating shadows, I just use the complement of whatever color I have on the paper. I have not used Neutral Tint in a monochromatic painting. I prefer brown tones for monochrome work.
    I am wondering though, is it possible to mix up your own neutral tint? You can create a black or dark by mixing all three primary colors; then you can add a bit more of the blue and red to get a reasonable facsimile of neutral tint, I would think. What do you think, Liron?

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is exactly what I'm doing (:
      I'll post this Thursday another portrait painting process that shows this pretty well.
      Using only 3 primaries to get very neutral and ultra dark values.

  • @Amber-bx4tj
    @Amber-bx4tj 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    An interesting mixture. Usually I make a neutral mixture with my primary colors, so I know their pigments will not conflict with the pigments of other colors (I tend to use 4 or 5 colors for my paintings), I don't think I would ever buy an neutral tint, but it was nice to see how it work with greens.

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's exactly my approach (:
      I much prefer using the primaries and that way I know the colors will be harmonious.
      This was a nice experiment though, and it will be good perhaps for monochromatic paintings.

  • @lockeyarts
    @lockeyarts 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the suggestions! I got this color as part of a set and was wondering what to do with it. At first glance it seemed a little too warm to me too. I personally prefer to mix my own neutrals and wouldn't have bought this paint just by itself. There's also almost always something on the mixing areas of my palette I can quickly turn into a neutral.

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do the same :D
      I just pick up whatever's left and use that.
      Unless I'm trying to keep the color scheme of the painting really clean and even.
