"Climb Every Mountain" from The Sound of Music has been a favorite in The Tabernacle Choir repertoire for decades. Composed by Richard Rodgers with Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and arrangement by Arthur Harris, this is a song of hope, determination and dreams.
Lyrics:
Climb ev'ry mountain,
Search high and low
Follow ev'ry byway
Ev'ry path you know
Climb ev'ry mountain
Ford ev'ry stream
Follow ev'ry rainbow
'Til you find your dream
A dream that will need
All the love you can give
Every day of your life
For as long as you live
Climb ev'ry mountain
Ford ev'ry stream
Follow ev'ry rainbow
'Til you find your dream
A dream that will need
All the love you can give
Ev'ry day of your life
For as long as you live
Climb ev'ry mountain
Ford ev'ry stream
Follow ev'ry rainbow
'Til you find your dream
Episode 4336. Aired October 21, 2012.
Climb every mountain with the help of God Almighty he's the one who moves mountains all credit to him in giving us success in our daily lives work, home, and schooling. 🙏📖🕯️😀❤️
I can't listen to this without crying. My Mom used to sing this to me when I was a kid. I'm disabled, and she used to either sing it or play this for me whenever times got tough. She'll be gone 7 years tis year.
thanks for sharing
♥️ 🙏
You were blessed to have a mother who loved you.
GOD BLESS YOU, CHRISTY. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹♥️♥️♥️♥️
@@georgealexander8661 Peace be withh you
I'm not Mormon but have to admit that this is truly beautiful.
Try their rendition of somewhere over the rsinbow
This song and "You'll Never Walk Alone" have got to be two of the most beautiful, emotional songs ever written. I get teary-eyed when I hear both. And no one or no group sings them better than this amazing choir.
I totally agree.
I really liked your response
I couldn't agree more!
I just listened to You'll never walk alone today, such a great song.
How in the world can 274 people not like this?
I've just been introduced to the Tabernacle choir and I've been moved to tears, absolutely magical,
You should hear them in person. Its unreal how heavenly they sound
I have had the privilege to see several of their practices and live concerts and see the 100,000 pipe organ that sits behind them at the Salt Lake City Temple. Until you can see them live there you have not experienced them fully. I will tell you, no matter what religion you are or if you do not have one you will be mesmerized.
One small correction. They sing in the Tabernacle, across from the temple in Temple square. 😊😊😊
Such a beautiful sound ...I was in tears missing one of my kids ...this gives me comfort, it reminded me of how strong I am as a woman & mother 😇🙏💖
By far the best arrangement ever made for a choir globally. This is in my humble opinion easily the MTC’s best rendition And best way to show their deep amazing talent. And if that’s how it sounds live, suggested bt the video, this is even more unbelievable. So pure, angelic, heavenly felt song. Adore it
I'm not religious, but this song always lifts me up. Love The Mormon Tabernacle Choir!!
This song saw me through when my dad died - I was 14 - and really set adrift with little guidance . Saw me through life x
ducatiman1309 so very sorry for ur loss, the song that helped me deal with my mom's death was White Xmas and strangly enough the song Honey by Bobby Goldsboro try to hear if u get a chance 💫
A legendary song from "The Sound of Music". Julie Andrews brought this to life, and The Mormon Tabernacle Choir keeps this in our hearts and mind with this wonderful rendition of "Climb Every Mountain". The lyrics are so inspiring...if we climb that mountain we will get to achiieve our goals. Don't give up...ever.
Julie Andrews never sang it.
Perhaps the most inspiring song ever written....
If this doesn't move you, you can't be moved....
This is as close to perfection as it can be. Absolutely incredible!
of course it is, the Mormons got the money to hire the best performers around
C Miller yeah, and the arrangement too!
All the members of the choir and orchestra are volunteers. They are not paid.
"All 360 members of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and all 110 members of the Orchestra at Temple Square are unpaid volunteers."
+C Miller that is not true there all members of the church just thought I'll say
The "forge every stream" at 1:46 sends chills up my spine, this is the most beautiful thing that I have listened to.
I'm in heaven, God bless us all
I cry every time I listen to this. It is, without a doubt, the most beautiful thing I've ever heard in my life !!
I dropping this message this day 16th Dec,2024. With so much inspiration from sounds of music
This song will shake all the Mountains in New Zealand, so very beautiful and touching... Thank you so much our World Tabernacle..
Climb every mountain.... Certainly a very much loved & cherished song even after nearly 50 years on.
Long may this tune stays in the hearts of those who enjoyed "Sound of Music".
Thank you Rogers & Hammerstein for this unforgettable composition!
Brian Gan Peterborough
Indeed, but this song, with MoTab spin, transcends SOM :)
This is my go to song whenever I'm feeling downtrodden and beat up by the rest of the world..today is one of those days. I am very blessed and thankful for the Love, Faith, Encouragement, and Inspiration this always brings. I know it does for others, as well!
UncleOafie Yes today is one of those days for me
And in the dialogue right before the Mother Superior sings this song she tells Maria, "You must live the life you were born to live." It's easy to understand how someone could find encouragement in hearing that. I do.
A FELLOW HERE....NOW AGED 83...THAT RAISED HIS FAMILY OF 4 IN THE MOUNTAIN STATE OF LITTLETON, COLORADO....IT WAS A SPECTACULAR...PLACE TO LIVE IN LITTLETON, COLORADO.....A BLESSING...AND I DID....EVERY CHANCE I GOT....CLIMBED EVERY MOUNTAIN. CY BALDWIN HERE.

Quite possibly the most beautiful tune ever, So well done it literally tears me up each time I hear it. Makes me reflect on my life today and in the past.
I absolutely love this song. Touches me deep.

Let Peacemakers stand up for Jesus , God came to bring Peace on Earth for the Glory of God the Father - Our One Lord of Lords, King of Kings, Almighty God Divine Eternal Father Jesus Christ Our Lord.God Bless you
One of the things that makes the Mormon T.C. so terrific is that they have a large contingent (equal numbers?) of both men and women. Imho if a chorus is all or overwhelmingly female, there are too many singers of high notes. Conversely, if all or overwhelmingly male, NOT ENOUGH singers of high notes. In general in my experience, with many exceptions, the best soloists are female. But the best singers are when it is a mixed chorus. The contrast is FABULOUS.
Still one of the greatest, inspirational songs ever written and it is sung so beautifully.
When I get too contamined of the world were I live, I always come back to this song to get de-contaminated.
If you are willing to reply to me, in what nation do you live? I live (obviously) in Virginia, USA
I'm encouraged you wish to get "de-contaminated", as you say. The best -- and only -- way to do this is to surrender your heart and life to Jesus Christ, agreeing with Him regarding your sin, repenting of it, and accepting His gracious free gift of eternal life by faith. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all our sin! This is the only way for you to be washed and "de-contaminated"...."I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man comes to the Father except by Me." -- John 14:6.
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is the greatest choir on earth !!
Most beautiful rendition of this song I've ever heard; has an unmistakeable sound of Heaven. So obscenely beautiful…Literally like the voices of angels.
Somehow it gives us hope that despite everything that's going on around us, there is still hope for humanity...
Simply angelic as always. This is a must listen to for anyone.
I've had some hard times lately, so when I was browsing on TH-cam and stumbled upon this song, I was so shocked and touched. Stunningly beautiful.
Yes, everyday I seem to climb every mountain !!!!!!!!! Thank God, our Creator who loves me and the whole human race. Thank you especially to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and everyone responsible for this posting. Gratefully, Robert S.J. Hu May 1, 2020.
When I was a senior in High School this was our class song. This is truly beautiful
I will listen to this wonderful choir until the day of the rapture, amen
They are there voluntarily my friend. They sing in what they believe are sacred surroundings and do not believe animated actions are necessary to supplement the beauty of music that is well sung. Each and every member of the choir has mastered their craft, auditioned amidst fierce competition and sing to praise Him.
Really tired of people who want WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love is the only way to achieve peace and harmony. Listening to this music brings one nearer to the spirit of what humanity should represent.
Such wonderful, beautiful, and lovely music for any day of the week... Thank you choir members and everyone that made this performance possible 😀
FANTASTIC, MAGNIFICENT VOICES! WE ARE ALL ONE, UNITED FOREVER IN THIS BEAUTIFUL LIFE! LET US LOVE ONE ANOTHER ♥ PEACE ON EARTH ♥
I wish i could be in that place with them so amazing just the best
GLORIOUS! Nurtures the soul. THANK YOU for posting.
I saw the 'sound of music' first of all back in the 1960's and thoughly enjoyed it. I was the projectionist at the TYrafford Theatre imn Manchester, uk and saw the film over 3000 times before it was removed, but I still love the music.
I am in tears listening to the greatest song ever written by Mr Richard Rodgers and his second lyricist Mr Oscar Hammerstein 2nd. It is interesting to know that in all the musicals the two men composed together, Mr Hammerstein's words were always written first. Then Mr Rodgers' composed his melody.....This is beautiful beyond words.
Aloha to all of you at The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you all for your most beautiful rendition/posting of
"Climb Every Mountain." Its so inspiring and gives me hope to live from day to day. Gratefully, Robert S.J. Hu May 25, 2020.
Triumph of Faith, Hope and Love. Triumph of God in his very Life against anything what tries to steal our life.
WHAT A CHOIR, never see and heare better !!!
I heard this sung by the choir and it took me right back to my child hood in the east end of London as this was once recorded by a singer called David whitfield and it was my mums favorite song. Im 62 now and the memories were wonderfull.
In life, we are constantly climbing mountains but somehow we always get to the top where we find our dream!
I agree with the last remark from hank Reager. Beatuful music, during cooking, writing, thinking and listening. I love it, thank you so much for making such nice vieo's for YOU Tube for many people to enjoy . Thanks - Christa van Lienden, the Netherlands
There are just some songs that are so beautiful that no matter who sings it, it is perfection. MTC does everything so beautifully.
we come into this with nil and leave with same ,but thankfully chosen people leave us mortals to enjoy will we live , thank you lord.
This music gives me hope to go on in life with all the positive believe that all things will be made well for me and my dear family.
My grandmother was a professional pianist and at family holiday gatherings would play this song and other good ol' standards with panache and feeling using virtually every 88 keys by memory. Her grandchildren gathered around the Steinway in pure loving contentment and in awe of her gift of music. When she passed away, realizing her love and skills of a musician were forever gone but memories I cried profusely and unabashedly. Never take for granted the old folks that gather for holidays. But, this lovely song really brings back memories of her.
Very good Orchestra and conductor......The choir, in my opinion is the best in the world, bar none
I feel so up lifted, and feel so at peace. So inspiring so beautiful. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
For the FATHER of the reincarnated YESHUA in THESE FINAL DAYS, THIS is the ONE that most helped me to go from all the way DOWN to all the way up! ( I was of course the MOTHER of Yeshua when he was born in Bethlehem.) - Stephen Lee Ethridge
I held my cat mittens for the last time to this song i couldnt stop crying when it was her time to cross the rainbow bridge.i know i will see her again in heaven.
World's most beautiful music.
Gets better every time. I love you Choir. Peaceful and Beautiful...each of you. Mucho Gracious. King Evan John Clarence Caesar Anthony James Paul Alexander McIntyre
In the final scene the Van Trapp family is hiking over the mountains as they escape from Austria a song that is very emotional.
Incomparable and unsurpassed. Speechless in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.
Always makes me cry whether I sing or listen to it. What a wonderful song. I saw the Sound of Music at the cinema in the 1960s and what an impact it had on me even then..... They were escaping the Nazis and seeking freedom. We in the UK with huge help from our cousins in the US secured that freedom.
Everytime I hear this, it reminds me how we will always climb mountains until we reach the top!
Beautiful songs, well organized singers
Si beau ça menport au ciel si paisible
MAMMA MIA!!!! No words to describe the feeling I feel right now. I love this song so much. Truly an excellent performance. You are all talented people. Thank you for sharing this with others.
Some of my favorite parts of general conference is listening to this choir sing. Since I was a little girl, I've dreamt of being a part of this great work when I grow older. To the choir, I say, "You all have such beautiful, powerful voices. It makes others want to strive to do better." Keep up the amazing work!
What did I just experience?!!?? Just epic. Who are these people?!!
oh thanks for making me cry
Even not being a mormon anymore and despising their beliefs, I can't help but state that the Tabernacle Choir is one of the most beautiful things one can listen to.
All other renderings of this beautifully performed tune pale in comparison with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Absolutely magnificent!
I don’t know how to end the day
We live here Lord we are so thankful we give you thanks
This song makes me cry every single time, no matter who sings it, no matter how it's sung
I'm just a smol potato but this was my childhood
I watched the crap out of Sound of Music like I begged my parents to let me watch it over and over and over and over
We first heard "Climb Every Mtn." in the play "Sound of Music" written by Rodger & Hammerstein back in 59....has been sung by many! The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is known for its great singers, orchestra, and hearing this plus the beautiful photography was very, very refreshing....a very great performance. Thank You....
Sheldon L. Harper Yes,absolutely.
I played Rolph Gruber in The Sound of Music in Salt Lake City. I love this song.
God-given talent indeed. What a beautiful gift to mankind- to give us the ability to create and perform such beauty, so many individuals coming together to do so.
im a Unitarian Universalist but still love this preformance
The beauty of those voices and that music is overwhelming! :'-)
So very very beautiful and done so well bringing the song into heartfelt health and mindful joy and eternal emotional health
Beautiful
Absolutely beautiful x
What is more uplifting than music from the Sound of Music, especially this song. Sing it loud and sing it often.
Climb Every Mountain is an inspirational song and it is beautifully sung here by the choir.
A Rogers and Hammerstein masterpieces.
My beloved Tamsweg's church, my beloved Lungau and beloved Austria. I listen to music in Canada and suddenly pictures of beloved places. Great. thank you very much
Just BEAUTIFUL! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
The Tabernacle pipes are prettier than the ones in the conference center. It's nice to be able to see them here.
Hearing this song in 1965 when seeing "The Sound of Music", put words to my thoughts & became a guide for my life. I have seriously climbed "most" mountains & I'm all the richer & wiser for it!
The Highest Form of Worship
This is one of my favorites! This choir executes it marvellously.
