Irrespective of ones religious beliefs or none, the Tabernacle choir is something to behold. It is made up of everyday men and women who are committed to its mission. My wife and I had an opportunity many years ago to hear it in person while in Salt Lake. I will never forget it.
Excellent comment, I am not religious & have issues with all organized religion. But; I appreciate beautiful music/hymns & respect the choral efforts, interestingly majority of the best choirs are Mormon. So despite issues, in that regard they must be doing something right.
I wonder how many people have come to Faith in Jesus Christ because of this song? I guess only eternity will tell us that.

That’s wonderful!! Actually me too. It is the spirit of Christ in it that does that!! His atonement took not only our sins when we repent, but all of our pains, sickness, etc..

I was browsing TH-cam for calm music and came across this version of Amazing Grace, which is one of my favourite songs. Wow!! I thought the choir sang is beautifully. I like how it starts of calmful and then at the end it gets louder. I'm not a Mormon, I'm a C of E but haven't been active for a while. There are times when I feel lost / sad and just listening to gospel music, kind of lifts me up. 🥰🙏

Dear Sweetheart of Sixty-Two years was taking her final breathing cycles, she asked that I play “Amazing Grace” on the piano, as this was her favorite gospel song ever! She always loved the hymn more than any other! God…take good care of Gloria until I m received up there to be with you and her! Thank you Lord!

This is fantastic, this is the only way to praise our God and his only son Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Almost every day before I sleep I listen to this great song, and it reminds me of my father, mother and my brothers who passed on, my their soul rest in peace. Amen.

Same here. I sometimes jokingly say that I am a 'Baptist Mormon'. I also first sang this song in the Baptist Church at about the age of 6. I was baptized into the Mormon Church at the age of 12, along with my family. I am almost 69 now. It's 2023.

My dad loved this hymn….one time I went to his grave, and a man was there at a grave, playing this on the bagpipes. I cried my eyes out. Tonight I remember that, and I remember him….I cry my eyes out again. He helped us to be better….we missed him after he died in ‘85. Especially me. At least that is what I say….the others do too, I am sure.

That was beautiful. I love to hear the bagpipes before the singers begin. When my father died in 2007 at the age of 94, I had a man playing Amazing Grace and he wore a kilt. The little town in which my parents had lived last had been settled by Scots and the college there was St. Andrew's and the music department taught how to play the pipes. In 2012, I had the opportunity to visit Scotland along with England and Wales. The people in Scotland were the friendliest by far. My heritage is Scots, Welsh, and English.
During this Covid time and prayerfully turning the tide against racism (my family is from Selma) that Gods amazing grace and mercy will radiate throughout our world. I pray that we will be better people- more loving people- more God centered people after this wilderness experience. May GOD keep you all in His protecting arms. In Jesus’ precious name. amen.

Last night we attended the Mormon Miracle Pageant for the last time. This was the last recorded song being played on the loudspeaker before the pageant began. I was leaving the restrooms and was stopped in the street by overwhelming emotion in front of the temple. I wept and wept. The spirit was so strong. The temple was so very alive. The gospel is so true. I love my Savior so very much.

Do you have to be Mormon to sing in their Choir? I’m Christian but miss the days of singing in a Choir and remember the amazing feeling when our voices all harmonized as one. 19 years in the Army and I want that feeling again. I flew as a Medical Evacuation Pilot in Afghanistan from 2010 a 2011 and we had a pilot who played bagpipes. When we had a tough mission and lost a soldier he would grab his bagpipes and head out to the LZ and play this song no matter what time it was and the entire FOB listened

I went to Israel to visit the Holy places...coming into Jerusalem for our first time the entire bus began singing this song....it was Heavenly....and we spent 11 days taking in this Blessed Land...then when leaving The Old City and looking at its beauty for our last time again we sang this song to our Jerusalem....

As a believer in Christ as a child growing up I; the west i n d i e s we were told that every Sunday morning we had to go to church and as a Christian believer and a Church of England England believer as I am older now I don’t go church but I never stop believing in god and I try to say and read the bible when I can and when I hear the none believers in god speak I had to remind them that god holds our life in his hands not us and for that song amazing grace every time I hear that song it makes me cry and I can remember some parts of the bible tells us that the angles. In heaven will be singing with harps of melody o what a glorious sound it brings joy to your soul and that’s why I am trying my very best with gods help to do the right thing so that one day I too will be singing with the angles amen

This is absolutely fantastic - the music, the visuals, the feeling that accompanies them. This reminds me of my grandparents. I played this piece at my grandmother's funeral and this recording helped me get the right feeling. I'm so grateful for her and grateful that music carries memories. And I'm especially grateful for God's plan of happy endings.
