      Leave it alone and return all stock parts. It's so rare you'd have them all to the original car and in such good condition. They're getting harder to find. And those body kits were ugly.

    Just bought a 1996 ACR former SCCA track car. Love it. Already had it out for one autocross event this year and plan on many more.

      That is wicked! The acr’s are sooo cool. Excellent performing cars for their age, loving the neon, hope to get it on for another update video soon.

      Return it to stock, put all original members back on the car. It's so rare you'd have them all in such good condition. Those body kits were garish and ugly.

    5:59 That's 85,181.9 miles for us yanks, quite low mileage considering it's age!

    Man I had a 95 sport coupe the same color as my first car. IMO put the original hood and trunk back on and clean it up. These are such sweet little cars. I would love to have one for a daily.

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are sweet, since this vid ive picked up even more parts the owner had laying around. Ive got a vision for it now as a starting point. I look forward to getting out on the road with it this summer

    Everyone keeps saying to srt4 swap it but i say build the DOHC. Those DOHC engines are really nice little reliable engines. They rev high and can be easily modified. Great engine for an NA build. But they can also handle boost if you build the head. Nice project, im looking for a 1g myself to replace the one i used to have. They are getting hard to find!

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably going to start with just adding all the uninstalled Parts onto the dohc. It was pretty dang quick before it will be cool to see the difference

  • @gamercoolapple1
    @gamercoolapple1 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You can do a 2.4 n/a engine swap off a stratus or a 2.4 srt engine off a pt gt or srt4 and be a ripper nice find!

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I figure if this current engine is ok, ill get it going and out for a base line rip. From there see what path it should go.

  • @WTFAUTO
    @WTFAUTO ปีที่แล้ว +7

    If the engine is bad then srt4 swap it and just get a PT cruiser GT as a parts car. Or get creative and do a 80s chrysler turbo engine swap out of a lebaron GTS or Daytona.

  • @mikullmac

    I hope you are still bringing this car back to life. The Neon ACR was the American Integra Type R, it rips the turns and pulls up to 7k.
    I had one with a modded 2.4 and tore the center part out of the disk of a brand new clutch while pulling 3rd. The 2.4 is an easy swap for this car. Cheap too if you get the 2.4 from a stratus instead of an SRT, all the parts for a 2.0 will fit. You should get a stronger clutch than I did LOL.

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats wicked dude! When i was a teen and this was my best buds car. It was one of the fastest among the local tuner cars at the time.
      Im actively working on hitting the road with it! Next vid should be 2 weeks! The car has changed so much since this vid

    • @mikullmac
      @mikullmac ปีที่แล้ว

      It's because God want me to tell you to get the N/A 2.4 stratus swap. Hahahaha. The stock bottom end is strong enough to pull 10s. Scott Mohler had one rigged back in the early 2000s in NHRA. Today's gear would be better, there's double roller rockers or ITBs available.

    • @mikullmac
      @mikullmac ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aside from a mild wiring adjustment for the firing order, the 2.4 is a bolt on and the head will interchange with the 2.0.
      I'm pushing hard to get you to do it LOL

    The OG bugeye 😍🤘
    I just fell over from excitement haaha
    I owned 4 neons in total, over the course of 8 years and in Maine, pioneered a "man, I hate Neons but yours is so clean. I love it". Super special feeling when they're were mutually hated from everybody. I had the Wings west 4dr kit, on my 2dr. It fit alright but the headlights never fit right, their rubber seals around the outer edge always flapped and flew out. I'd say try the kit on (I think it's a Blitz kit?) But it could be too low for avg driving.
    I bet she fires . Compression sounds good but fuel is yuck me thinks.
    Just so good in snow, cheap and easy to work on. Needed a head gasket 😬🙄
    Chrysler paint is fairly thick in 98..they got better after 95 when it would delaminate per panel lol
    I detailed it weekly. 1996 red coupe and I have chills watching this fellas...omg bless you haha

      My sohc didn't have a tach in the cluster, so I swapped one and learned how easy it can be to achieve a cooler car in minutes.

  • @sadako2903
    @sadako2903 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    honestly you should swap it to srt4 engine since they are really good engine and you can make a decent hp with simple bolt ons

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The srt4 swap is definitely going to be the end goal. Your right too, they make really good power with very little mods, they are a decent engine and in this light car it would fly 🙌

  • @oliverscorsim
    @oliverscorsim ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Any interest in selling either the carbon hood and the stock front bumper if you happen to use the body kit? Fyi it's a acr front bumper and eh lol my acr is missing one haha

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting! Currently Id like to keep the hood and stock bumper. As cool as it would be to complete the build the body kit. I feel this car can be made to look awesome even in our modern times and standards for “cool” my plan with body is probably ditch the wing, then get a lip for this stock bumper. That would be about it on the body.

    either drop a 2.4 srt4 motor in it or get a new 2.0 and hook it up with 7 psi that will be enough to make a difference and stock 2.0 internals will handle it... sorry i owned these before and spent a lot of time on the neon forums i know every nut and bolt like the back of my hand hell i have a 4 core aluminum radiator for one of these and all the 2.4 motor swap parts for the motor mounts in storage... motor sounds like its got compression...

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 2.4 is a sweet option in these, makes them a monster! She parked up for the winter now. But will be doing some light work over winter on it.
