    One thing they have under the hood that I wish they would relocate because it’s noisy as hell and very annoying is the electrically powered vacuum pump to work the brake booster. I might even look for a way to isolate that from the frame even more. Every time you push down on the brakes, it activates.

      Yeah it's crazy how the thing is virtually silent and now we notice all noises.

    I'm surprised the exposed coolant and electrical lines are still intact and undamaged. Also kinda curious how much debris has collected in the empty space above the battery.

    When the van is plugged in at night time can you heat the rear of the van just enough to stop things like water tanks and caulk from freezing? That would be a huge bonus for me as a window tinter!

    • @SmedleyPlumbing
      @SmedleyPlumbing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will schedule a warming of the cabin based off your programmed departure time and it uses shore power for that warming. So it's possible you could schedule multiple departure times close enough to keep things warm. You could also find a way to run a separate power cord out to the van and run a small heater.

    • @jonkolo13
      @jonkolo13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool. I bet Ford could easily add a “anti-freeze” cabin heat mode to the phone app with a freeze warning to remind you to turn it on. I wouldn’t use it every night but sometimes it would make life a lot easier not having to unload the van before things freeze.

    Hi Mitch, thanks for putting these videos out there. I have a couple questions if you wouldn't mind answering:
    1) What is the minimum ground clearance on your unit after being loaded down? Using your hands for scale in the video, I'm guessing somewhere between 5-7", but I'm wondering if you could get a formal measurement.
    2) Are you ever thinking of putting larger diameter wheels and tires on your unit? Any estimates on what the largest diameter wheel/tire combo possible might be? I'm asking because larger diameter wheels could be a way to bump the ground clearance up a bit.
    3) Do you have any complaints so far with the Ford Pro Power system?
    Thanks!

    • @SmedleyPlumbing
      @SmedleyPlumbing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello and thanks for watching!
      I'm not sure of the ground clearance but because of the independent rear suspension it will be slightly less than a standard gas Transit. The coil springs set just inside of the rear tires and they are probably only six to seven inches off the ground.
      As far as wheel and tire packages go, any of the larger wheel and tire packages available for any other Transit would work on this one.
      If I had to come up with a complaint for the Pro Power pack I would only have one. And that is that the vehicle must be on in order for the Pro Power pack to work. However the vehicle cannot be on while plugged into a charger.

    • @stevendibb
      @stevendibb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SmedleyPlumbing Excellent, thanks for the information and quick response. I ask about the ground clearance and wheels because some of my use cases involve driving on less than perfect dirt roads. I worry about kicking up some rocks or driving (at safe speeds) over something larger and damaging the motor/battery pack. We've all seen how dirt roads can get rutted out and I am curious about how much the E-transit can handle. I suppose it's about the same as the regular Transit, considering the chassis is essentially the same.

      I sorta have this working now. You have to make sure that max idle is off from the steering wheel vehicle settings. I'm heavily looking into the purchase of this E-Transit for Courier work. So most times it will be empty to maybe 400lbs of cargo at one time. In a blue moon 800lbs. What platform are you running?? I'm looking at the low roof, long wheel base. I have to get into the parking garage at the airport to pickup at times so need the low roof. Living in Arizona A/C in not an option to keep it off during the summer. Glad your getting 150-170 per charge. Let me know. thanks!!
