however the last time i went to Malaysia, I, as an Indonesian, find it more difficult to understand Bahasa Malaysia, than my Malay friends did my Bahasa Indonesia.

I studied nature in Indonesia and the great tragedy of Indonesian natural history in a large library in Europe and visited Indonesia in 2010, 2015 and 2018. My trip was funded by a big company from my country because I have worked for 24 years to study and explore nature in Indonesia. To be honest, traveling to Indonesia is not cheap. I have summarized it. I will give honest information and you can find out what information I have to say.
Indonesia has no less than 500 volcanoes throughout Indonesia (both active and inactive and underwater volcanoes). But active volcanoes in Indonesia 127. Not only that, there are many more natural attractions. Indonesia symbolizes the elements of water, earth, fire, wind and plants combined into one.
Please find out how many total deaths are caused by major natural disasters in Indonesia, they occur too often, in fact many other countries have cooperated with Indonesia but have not been able to control natural disasters in Indonesia and are finally labeled as "ABNORMAL".
Other countries also experience natural disasters but not as strong, as much and as brutal as nature in Indonesia. It is clear that the physical geography location of Indonesia, which is far apart, seems to be torn apart by nature. Previously, Indonesia territory was not shaped like that but was still connected to Southeast Asia and Australia. Even the governments of many countries have warned the Indonesian government to remain vigilant about natural disasters there, it's no joke because the dark history of the major natural disasters in Indonesia is written and documented by the International.
Natural brutality and so scary in Indonesia, among others.
    >Indonesia has experienced earthquakes for 32 years. The history of the longest earthquake in the world.
    >Indonesia once covered the whole world in a year without a summer. (Tambor 1815) The occurrence of global poverty affects many countries (Europe, America's, Africa, Asia, Australia and Oceania).
    >Indonesia has experienced the collapse of a very large landmass called SUNDALAND. The split of the islands of Sumatra, Kalimantan, Java, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara. Then the mainland was separated from Thailand, Malaysia and Brunei. Everything fell into the sea.
    >Indonesia once made an earthquake and caused a tsunami that hit 14 countries. (Tsunami Aceh). The collision between the Sumatran plate and the Indian Ocean in the Aceh region of Indonesia caused 14 other countries to experience large tsunamis, even reaching India.
    >Indonesia has a super volcano that has been designated by UNESCO as an International GeoPark, which results in the death of 90% of mankind in the world. (Toba Supervolcano). Humanity is almost extinct and makes the territory of Indonesia volcanically active.
    >Indonesia was also previously connected to mainland Australia but collapsed and separated. Not only in the western part of Indonesia, but in eastern Indonesia, there is a collision between the Australian plates.
    >Indonesia also has a volcano that is recorded as having the loudest sound in the world and causing a tsunami. (Krakatoa 1883). The explosion was much larger than the Hiroshima bomb, generating a tsunami as high as 40 meters, volcanic ash, the loudest and recorded sound in modern world history.
    >Indonesia also caused flash floods to Timor Leste. The cause of flash floods between the eastern side of Indonesia and the country of Timor Leste was also affected.
    >The tragedy of the plane crash in Indonesia is also widely recorded internationally, there are those that fall in the sea, in the mountains, in the forest, all of which are caused by the sudden change of natural weather in Indonesia.
    >And others throughout Indonesia. There are too many major natural disasters in Indonesia. Too many.
The number of natural disasters in Indonesia from 2016 to 2020 was 17,032 events. That's a 5 year calculation, What if the total is from 1800s? Could be more. In fact, the most earthquakes in the world are not Japan or Chile, but Indonesia. Not only that, hurricanes, tsunamis, landslides, floods, storms, typhoons, earthquakes eruptions and others phenomenon. Very brutal and deadly.
In fact, throughout 2022, Indonesia has experienced 954 natural disasters, outperforming other countries. Mother Earth Queen in Indonesia often rages and is very domineering. No other country in the natural category can match it. Other countries also have natural disasters but when compared to natural disasters in Indonesia it is nothing. Queen Mother Nature in Indonesia is of a different class.
"The more beautiful you look, the more dangerous you are".
(Indonesia is the throne Queen of all the Queens of Mother Nature).
The rampage, power, brutality, deadly of nature in Indonesia are at their maximum level : THE REAL QUEEN MOTHER NATURE.
Nature in Indonesia has claimed many lives and has an impact on other countries, no matter where they come from. When it goes berserk, its true power will destroy and kill anything in its path. If I write down one by one the major natural disasters in Indonesia, then you will know that what I am typing is a real event and true story.
Nature in Indonesia very beautiful, unique, diverse but on the other hand also often kills. The shape of the Indonesian territory is elongated like a person sleeping on their back (Sumatra is the feet, Kalimantan is the stomach, Sulawesi is the chest, Maluku is the neck, Java Bali Nusa Tenggara is the back and Papua is the head).
MOTHER NATURE IN INDONESIA : 10/10.
I just talk about 100% MOTHER NATURE not MAN-MADE. Because man-made in the world is the same (America's, Europe, Africa's, Asia, Australia and Oceania) made to make life easier and Indonesia is not about human civilization, but about prehistory. Before the teachings of Hinduism, Muslims, Christians in Indonesia. The fact is that Indonesia is a place of supernatural beings, UNESCO gives a lot of predicate nature in Indonesia as a world heritage. Nature in Indonesia is much older than human civilization. Nature in Indonesia is the true Queen, she is in control, she decides and she makes it look perfect.
Queen of all queens of nature. Well that's how it looks. Every country has different natural characteristics, but nature in Indonesia is very different (Grade S+) This is fact. I'm not talking about man-made, but I'm talking about nature. The mastermind behind natural disasters that have claimed many lives in the world is QUEEN MOTHER NATURE in Indonesia. This is about mother nature not humans 10/10

If you visit Sumatera, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, Timor, and Papua and see the differences among these people, you'll be amazed that we are united as one nation. Lately, I have just realized, that it would be easier for us to learn the history and cultures of other countries like Japan and Korea than of each of the ethnicity, tribe, and languages composing Indonesia. One small province like North Sulawesi has five "indigenous" ethnic groups (not including the Chinese, Javanese, Balinese, Moluccas living there for decades or ages) and five languages and at least 15 dialects. It is almost the similar case of North Sumatera. I am completely blind of the languages of Papuan people, other than the lyrics of some songs I know. The diversities of Indonesia are just too many and each component is so unique. Unity in diversity is the dream of the founders of the country and it is the greatest tasks of each of us (today) to always live in harmony despite those differences.

As a Papuan and Indonesian native speaker, I might say, Bahasa Indonesia has more influence from western languages, Dutch yes we have thousands of words from the Netherlands as a former colony, but also English, Portuguese, Spanish. As an addition, we have also from Hindi, Arabic, Tagalog and some similar words from Urdu, Russian, Afrikaans, and there might be some languages that i don't recognize. These all based on my research on the internet and youtube.

We did learn them, most of us know about them, but our version kinda twist it a little bit, likechanging names, adding few characters like the four shadow puppets at 11:58 those 4 are punakawan, in mahabharata they act like a teacher/counselor for Pandava, and i'm being serious, the big one on the right, his fart can kill an entire army apparently.

      1) Greater Sunda Islands (Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi)
      2) Lesser Sunda Islands (Bali, Nusa Tenggara)
      3) Sahul (Maluku, Papua)
For neutrality, we choose Indonesia as the name of our country or we called it Bumi Pertiwi because there is a tribe named Sunda...

The word Indonesia comes entirely from Greek, even though yea Indo- is from Sanskrit, means India, but it's borrowed into Greek first. -nesia is native Greek, from the base word "nesos", which means "island". You're correct, Indonesia literally means Indian Archipelago.

    • @rhymistnoir6386

Great job covering a very dynamic and complex country. Indonesia being a diverse country is an understatement. Just to correct a couple things that might have got a couple Indonesian's triggered is that there are actually a lot more than 300 ethnic groups and languages within the country. In my anthropology class at uni (James Cook University) we had a guest speaker give us the most researched and updated facts that Indonesia had actually overtaken PNG as the most linguistically diverse country in the world with closer to 900 languages! Yes sounds crazy, but if you travel in and around East Indonesia you would realise that this figure is not too far fetched. Another interesting fact that Barby gave that was false is that Indonesia actually has a lot more than just 1 kingdom within the country that operates on an autonomous level rather than just Yogyakarta. The two most famous being the kingdom of Ternate and Tidore, both in North Maluku province, East Indonesia. Anyways, just thought I'd show some love to this amazing nation by clearing up some facts.

    • @irgaabd261
      @irgaabd261 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

yes we still have a lot of fully functioning kingdoms here (est around 234)...not just Ternate and Tidore. In North Maluku alone we have 4 active kingdoms: Kingdom of Ternate, Kingdom of Tidore, Kingdom of Bacan, and Kingdom of Jailolo.
Whats make Sultanate of Yogyakarta difference is that they still "own" the land and the people, and it is guaranteed by our national law. So basically Sultan of Yogyakarta is automatically become the Governor of Yoyga and Prince Pakualam (head of Pakualaman Principality) as Vice Governor. Where as for other sultan or kings, you have to compete in election. The other difference is any unincorporated land in Yogyakarta is owned by the sultan, except for national park.

Irga abd thankyou for you reply! Ah yes the two kingdoms on Halmahera. I was wondering what the differences were between jogja kingdoms and the ones in Maluku and Maluku Utara. It is amazing how each individual kingdom has its own unique independent history from the rest of the archipelago. Im currently writing my thesis on the transmigration of Suku Sawai and Suku Togutil peoples in North and Central Maluku, extremely fascinating province.

first of all, sorry for my rusty english, im american and i was born on hawaii (only born there, not a hawaiian native) my father is american ( Florida ) and my mother is indonesian ( shes from cilacap ), and i have no idea how they met each other lol, my parent raised me on hawaii for 2 year and then we moved to indonesia because of some family problem, my father left us when we were still a little kid (im a twin) and my mother took us to indonesia.
we moved alot during a couple years, start from jakarta - central java - Sukabumi then bandung, i cant speak english at all until age 14, i can only speak indonesia, but my american family always keep in touch with us, i realy wanted to talk to them, so i learn english by my self (10 yr old ), its kinda funny but i learn english mostly by playing games world of warcraft, there are alot of native english speaker there, and they are great teacher.
it is true that the best teacher is the native speaker it self, because in this game, you cant realy do anything if you cant communicate, 2 years of playing the game and im able to speak english, it sounds like a joke but, it is a win win condition for me, i got the fun and i can speak english, now i can speak sundanese, english and indonesia, im a muslim and most of my family are christian and jews, but we live in harmony
Edit : if you have personal question you can dm me @jasonfebs
I dont know my comment would be getting this much attention, thankyouu

As a Dutchman i was amazed with the videos you guys shared with us during the Euro Cup. Watching hundreds of people driving trough the streets dressed up in orange and waving Dutch flags to support our national team was very odd to see. Knowing that we have colonized the country for many years and yet receive so much love is proof that our new relationship is working very well. May Indonesia have a great future and that our relations strenghten even more.
Lot's of love from the Netherlands🇳🇱🇮🇩

For me personally, i don't see the past because we are in the present, not the past. So don't think we hate you, because we really appreciate Netherlands because Netherlands is like a cousin to Indonesia, so we are a family and if you want to come to Indonesia we will be Glad because you have come to our country/family

As an Indonesian, I really applaud you for this well-researched video that included details that many foreigners don't typically know. You mentioned in the video that despite being a huge Muslim majority country, there are a lot of Indonesian Muslim woman who doesn't wear hijab, and I really want to emphasize on this (because I'm also an Indonesian Muslim who is still learning to wear hijab).
Many people from other countries, especially from the west, on the internet often think (at least from my observation) that so many Indonesian Muslim woman wear hijab because we are oppressed by our religion. We. Do. Not. Those who wear it, do it because they want to, otherwise they don't. I live in a city in East Java where the population is predominantly Muslim and far more obeying to the religion than those who lives in metropolitan cities such as Jakarta, and even in here no one bats an eye to a Muslim woman who doesn't wear the hijab. And that is the case for nearly all of Indonesia except for Aceh. Yet I see so many foreigner including Indonesian women for example when talking about "being oppressed by religion". It's so tiring because they don't know what they're talking about. I bet they have never met an Indonesian their whole lives.

      Acehnese stepping by here.
What you're said was true as is was generally common in Indonesia, but for Aceh, it's special case. After Sharia Law was introduce in 2003, all of Acehnese women were mandated to use hijab for protected them from men who kind of sometimes looking them with sneaky eyes (as you can guess it could lead to bad things). This rules however does not apply to the Hakka Chinese community and noticeable yet small Tamil community that live in Aceh for a long time and people from outside Aceh that visited this place, nonetheless they're advised to wear polite clothing as the hijab is optional for them if they want to use it or not
