For $85, this is a no-brainer. 1/3 the price of mp 52? Easy buy! Thrust is the coolest conehead, so even if they don't make the other 2, I'm okay. MT Thrust can't even stand, so I can't wait for the comparison. Thanks, Sony!
I shaved off the pointy thingy just so he can stand. I don't mind minor stuff like that but, what I really hate about Maketoys is their waist doesn't lock into place and is very flimsy.
Tydirium Hanger had the same issue with his MPU-01 Thrust. The hands were on the wrong arms. On Facebook, someone received a Thrust with 2 right hands.
The thing that's giving me the ick is that they put the mold lines in the faux chest to represent the bit of fuselage around the canopy. But they haven't painted it red!
That stand looks better than the official one. Black is better than purple but clear translucent would be my preference. Plus the official stand is basically useless since it won't hold up a damn thing...
Great review! I know my copy has a lot of the same issues. I did find tabs on the armature that folds up to the shoulders, but like you said, they aren't needed and are difficult to fold out. I had to use pliers to get them to open.
Alt mode is just ok, looks fiddly. A for Effort and the PRICE is very attractive indeed. But will they make the other 2? Bot mode way WAY Too Short. These Seekers are almost suppose to be as BIG as Megatron/Prime, they are DECEPTICONS, not GoBots. I'll keep my D Space for the WIN. Hopefully they make the Seekers/Coneheads and other colorful Additions like MakeToys has. Thanks for the review.
@@HigXx That's interesting to know. But this MPU company is being a little bit obnoxious about selling unlicensed toys, e.g. using the word "Masterpiece", even if it has a space in the middle, and the character's actual name. They even have "Ver. 2.0" next to the name, as if it's a continuation of Takara's MP-11NT. I wouldn't be surprised if Takara cracks down on this particular company just because unlike other unofficial toy makers, they are not playing the game very subtly.
Thanks for your review. I almost impulse bought this due to the price point, but your review made it clear to me that MPU-01 was a decent enough figure that just would not have been a good fit for my collection. Thanks for saving me some money.
I'm debating if I want to hold off on this for someone else to make the coneheads. I get the price is way cheaper but with ko you never know what you are going to get.
Nice, the coneheads have been burning a hole of empty on my shelf. Problem is, I have the deformation space seekers. Do you think DS will ever do a version of the coneheads?
How fiddly are the tings in alt-mode? They don't seem too bad, but it's hard to tell. How about the cockpit area in alt-mode? That seemed a bit fiddly/weird. Generally... Not really a fan of KO's (third party is completely fine), but I'm not sure Takara-Tomy is going to do anything here. MP-52 was initially awful for me... but I made it work by tightening up the ankles with Pledge. I initially tried Krazy Glue for the ankles... but it's too viscous to get into the joints. With Pledge, I did multiple treatments with long set times across Starscream, Skywarp, and Thundercracker and it completely fixed the ankles on 3.
The size of this figure is really a non issue for me, i wont be displaying it next to my megatron or DS seekers. The size discrepancy was annoying with takara starscream considering you may want to display him next to megatron, but with thrust i don't mind at all especially if the rest of the conehead crew come out looking as good as this first offering.
Great review with some nice tips for tweaks. Question: The OG had loose ankle problems, so the Eagle KO came with a screw to tighten the ankle. Does this bot have an ankle screw as well?
So it sounds like 3 MP versions of Thrust have been made and all of them have been built subpar. Official to me looks good but is very shaky and fiddly, I haven't gotten this one yet but from what I keep hearing it has some build issues and feels rather cheap, and I own the first MakeToys conehead and I didn't like the feel of it. That's crazy. Of the 3, I personally still like official MP looks best because it is so goofy which fits the character. This one looks like a better figure and the MT doesn't do much for me. I guess there is one other version the Yes Model. I have it, also. I guess it is probably built the best but probably looks the 2nd worst., imo. Forgot about the ToyWorld/Zeta, I didn't like it, either, but for DS folk, they might need that route.
He looks good but unfortunately too small for my collection as I have the DS Seekers. I'm going to pass and keep hoping DS finally produces their own set. That said, this definitely looks a hell of a lot better than the MT Coneheads - that set is garbage. Thanks for the review Sony!
It's neither of those companies. MPU doesn't have the licence for Transformers and is unofficially making this toy. And MPU is probably more likely to get in trouble because of how obvious it is making it, e.g. using the name "Masterpiece" just with a space in the middle, and using the character's ACTUAL name and stating "Version 2.0" next to it, which is a reference to the fact that Takara has already made a masterpiece thrust, MP 11NT. I wouldn't be surprised if MPU gets shut down pretty quickly. Other "third party" and "fourth party" (i.e. unlicensed makers) play the game a lot more cleverly and subtly..
Why is NOBODY calling out in a review that the hull around the chest canopy is NOT painted? Not only does it look really bad, but it is neither toy nor toon accurate. Nobody but me seems to have the Yes Model Coneheads...
All those Yes Model Seekers are awesome. I have had the purple and teal ones on pre-order for like 8 years. Maybe one day ShowZ will actually get them in...
To be fair, the box art on the original G1 toy had an orange canopy in the chest, the cartoon had a light grey one, and the actual toy had a transparent dark grey one. So this MPU iteration is relatively accurate.
@@TMReviews yeah I don't know of I like them all the way up I only noocted when that animation picture went up near the end plus of of mine moved and i thought one leg was longer then the other lol 😆
Overyped trash. they're trying so damn hard to make this thing out to be some savior of the MP52 mold, even down to the beyond pretentious name. All that's been done here is retrofit a KO of a Spectacular figure, and totally disreguard the designs of the TV Series in order to assemble an unfitting Bootleg. Season 2 designs where changed for every character in the series, far blockier and robust designs vs the firt season, and the new characters being based on the toys heavier than the first season too, this KO totally disreguards any of those design decisions. The least ammount of effort they could have done, and gotten it out fast.

@saysoun752 yeah, I can't they're getting away with milking that $hit mold to death. So egregious.
My MT Thrust stands fine
I think I'd like this more if all the black bits were grey.
Tydirium Hanger had the same issue with his MPU-01 Thrust. The hands were on the wrong arms.

Thanks for the bobble head tip.
Just got mine, I love it. I hope they make the other two and soon!
You can also push up the knee pads and it makes quite a difference
The thing that's giving me the ick is that they put the mold lines in the faux chest to represent the bit of fuselage around the canopy. But they haven't painted it red!
Love mine except for the lack of paint on the faux chest. Just don't get why they skipped that. Paint everything but that.

Glad I went with the Takara versions. They do look nice together. Hopefully, we get Dirge and Ramjet within a year.
We are glad you did too.
If I knew that this company would do all three coneheads, maybe I would take the plunge.
They are doing all 3

Looks nice and i wanted to buy it but he's just too small. MP52 in my opinion was already too small. Coneheads should be considerably bigger.
So, are those knees on a slider so they go up higher? It looked for a second that they might which would make it look more toon.
great thumbnail!

I didn't check because the ankles were tight

I feel like 4th party is a bs term... but this is where it could be applicable.

Yeah I fixed it for the Comparison with Maketoys so that video will be better for you to see
I thought it was MK ultra for a moment
The reason I always connect the nullray to the wing is to keep the wings from moving and coming out of place like that loveto do
Compare to mp11 NT it seem better
I have that comparison coming up
The completely clear unpainted fake cockpit looks so ugly to me, kinda ruins it.
