This figure shows exactly why I really appreciate FT. Instead of doing the typical Huffer repaint with minor changes they gave us a completely new mold. Since Pipes isn’t an A tier character it makes it really impressive. Love to see a great looking figure with nice paint and a fun transformation. I’m guessing you won’t be able to do a versus? Another well done FT review which gets me super excited to get this figure. Thanks TM!
Hey TMReviews, it's Spin. Excellent review. Pipes was one of my favorite minibots from G1. Saw him in the store in 86 and had to buy him. His navy blue just stood out. I don't personally collect the newer versions of figures, but I'm very impressed with the details they put into this Tube/Pipes. Again, 3rd party pays attention to those details like including the Metroplex transformation Cog from the Five Faces of Darkness, and a G1 faceplate option. The cartoon also portrayed him as having an Optimus style of leadership with the newer minibots. Pipes is a shunt, so he meant to be a bit smaller than a regular truck, but even with the G1 toy, and G1 Optimus trailer, he is able to "to pull" his trailer.
I love this figure. I just wish mine didn’t have the floppy arm syndrome. If it weren’t for that issue, it might be my favorite figure of the year. For now FT Variator/Gears is my top pick.
This looks incredible. I was pretty impressed with the mainline pipes that was released during Kingdom, but man, this is just stunning. I can't wait to get mine. Pipes was a childhood favorite of mine. Really, really nice looking. Almost feels like kind of a return to the old fanstoys style, with proportions that are a bit more on the heroic side - which I really dig.
He looks great. It's the toy face all the way, for me. Pipes was my Huffer back when I was a kid. I thought the G1 toy looked so awesome. I like it when companies allow you to add or subtract toyetic or cartoon parts. When it's possible, I like to have a look that evokes and celebrates both. I'm glad that the hyper toon focus has subsided a little bit and makers are considering ways to satisfy both preferences in collectors.
Can't wait for mine to arrive. Pipes is one of my favorite mini bots. Just got mine in and I'm a little disappointed. I didn't realize the back portion, behind his head, is a sticker decal and not paint. I just removed it and then removed the tape residue with some Un-Du. I would had left it on but, mine was put on crooked and it was irritating to look at. The back of the box had it off but, because it left so much tape residue, I don't think it was meant to be taken off. Otherwise they would had put on a decal that came off easily without any residue.
Just got fanstoys pipes and outback and both are solid figures gonna try and get all the others including brawn buffer etc and give em there own display
My favorite mini bot figure as a kid. Don't even remember him being in the cartoon, but that doesn't matter to me. He'll have the toy head for me, so glad they went with the red visor over the silver. Agreed the colors overall are not my favorite choice...should have gone with a metallic navy blue and white accents. But hey we got an MP pipes!
Man, clicking those legs into place after they've been combinerwars'd down, it was scary! Luckily your video popped up just as I was trying to work out why I couldn't close the leg panels!
Since the minibots were originally from the Micro Change line, people assumed that the M on Huffer, Brawn and Gears (and by extension Pipes, Outback and Swerve) stood for Micro Change (despite the others not having this M). However we now know that the M was for Mysterians, the range the designs were originally created for by Knickerbocker before they went out of business. So the only mystery now is why Windcharger (who also came from Knickerbocker) does not have the M on him.
@@TMReviews No problem. Really appreciated the review before I got mine in hand then appreciated having a great transformation guide to come back to when I did get mine.
Great review’s as always keep up the amazing content! But yea I absolutely love this figure the transformation and the poses u can get with in and the articulation is great it’s an knock out from ft imo and the best pipes there is imo again of course lol but the back window if u didn’t notice on his back pack is actually an sticker it’s supposed to be removed if u didn’t notice that already but it does have residue that u have to clean off but yea just thought to let u know. I do have the lose bicep rotation but apart from that I love this little guy and now waiting for gears come out this month. Anyways have an good one and can’t wait for the next review. :)
LesssgoooCan’t wait to see more with their symbol on. Also your vid shows the champagne color very well, weird imo. But haven’t been this excited to get a figure in a long time
They used a tanned silver color for arms and legs when he was white there. The back pack window is light blue and they look like they used white and i would say the blue needs to be darker. Minor gripes I'm just trying to understand why I'm not caring much for this figure. I was excited about a fanstoys pipes now seeing it and not very excited about.
The rear window is NOT painted. It's a sticker. I have posted images over on TFW2005 of the bot without it (imho, it looks a lot better) Also, fanstoys often provide episode gimmick accessories... Powerglide's mask, Jazz's grapple and speakers, Blasters speakers, Cliffjumpers skis, Brawn's drill etc...
I don't like the metal colors and wish they stayed with a toon colored white or off white which goes with the blue better. I would have bought this, Swerve, and the Hoist, but passed because the leg colors are off from the toon. I know it's more premium and whatnot, but either do toon or not. Maybe Xtransbots will do a better coloured one years from now... At least the Gears is closer to the toon which is good because he is a higher tier character.
I'm not feeling this figure much. I don't like how i see the robot in truck mode. I see his arms, his feet, his legs, his backpack. I wish they had did a better job of making the truck look believable as a robot in disguise.

Thanks man, and unfortunately I can't do a VS becuser I don't have xtb or Badcube

It's good to see this is a new mold, I really thought they would reuse Huffer, glad they didn't!

Agreed, this feels like the FansToys I know
Great review as always. I was shocked. I really thought this would be a repaint with little changes but a whole new mold. That is impressive
Thanks, and agreed on the new mold
Its gorgeous and will sit well next to my rig/huffer.

Great review, Sony!
Thanks man
Well, now I need the story on the “M”!

@@beatrixwickson8477 thanks for this! This is a bit of the history that I didn’t know!
Great review and figure. I passed up on this, but maybe I will pick one up.
Thanks, I recommend grabbing this one over power glide if you haven't yet
I guess instead of choosing between white and chrome, they went with white gold like Lupus

Yeah they nailed it this time, colors aside.
"First time you do that it might be a little tight"...Like so many other pipes in life.... lol
Looks like a solid bot. I wonder how long it will take Nusupply to release add-on blast effects for him.

I’m still laughing about the story you shared where you stole your cousin’s Transformer and she caught you before you left her house.
Lol
Great review.

Nice Figure ✨️ 😀
can you post a video on how to tighten those arms? also what you use as well thanks
Sure
M for Mysterians
Wonder if they Just finished the proper Paint and so they used random Gold Chrome instead
Next up GEARS!
Looks great! And not a 1:1 mold mate of Huffer! Power glide is………😬

Why are the front tires detachable?
To allow the shoulder to go up
@@TMReviews ohhh like when posing and stuff?
The boob seats😂
Pipes and swerve have been amazing. Warthog and gears are disappointing.
not a fan of the brassy silver. The color from the promo pics were fine
A toy review that gives me homework to do?? 0/10
Lol

I don't understand or like this silver/gold thing they're doing.
