7:44 Grimlock is very specifically supposed to have the chipped sword, because it's based on how José Delbo drew Grimlock's sword in the comics apparently.
I saw it as a sword breaker. Back in sword times, people will give blades teeth or cutouts to catch opponents' swords, once locked you can redirect and yank it off their hands. As if grimlock doesn't already tanks through the hottest of battle, now he has a sword to disarm the enemy's tiny advantage
Straxus would certainly be the most interesting for a full review, given that it’s their first recent attempt at the character instead of just a redeco like Shockwave or Grimlock.
Straxus now that is the figure to review. Remember the character well and his last look in the Transformers comic. Just a head in a glass tube. The character was cruel and this was the perfect cruel punishment.
11:06 Thing is, that's where the Siege version with the extra gear shines, because it fleshes out the alt mode into a Yamato-ish battlecruiser with a big gun up front, which feels like a natural evolution of his original alt mode like tanks were for Megatron.
I’d say Straxus would make a good review. Mainly because Grimlock and Shockwave are recolors of their SS and Siege toys, which are really good but Straxus seems to be a retool of Galvatron.
I'd love to see Straxus! The other two are just repaints with new stuff (and also Gav Spence already reviewed those two if that makes any difference at all. Not to say that his perspective makes yours redundant, of course.)
it is RIDICULOUS how well that galvatron mold works for Straxus. the alt mode looks bang on to those panals from the comics. just lucked out myself on the pre orders for him on hasbro pulse before he went sold out. cant wait for him to arrive. he's the one i'd most like to see a full review on. that Grimlock mold is fantastic and picking him up made me get the rest of the dinos. swoops actually out in brick and mortar stores here in Ireland and i dived on him to complete the set. i hear the original is getting a re release next october so till then the comic accurate lad will lead my dinos . im really loving the comic editions toys. fingers crossed we get a decent Rack n ruin down the road. hell a full comic accurate wreckers line would be ace.
I think Straxus deserves a review the most cuz of all the new tooling and he’s a character we don’t see often enough in toy form. Grimlock and Shockwave are great, but at the end of the day they’re just Grimlock and Shockwave in cool comic decos
Straxus is probably the best candidate for a full-fledged solo review, seeing as he's a more obscure character who isn't seen as often as Shockwave or Grimlock, who get new toys in every single line. Those two would be better suited for a brouhaha styled video.
Where are you from? Here in the UK Hasbro Pulse, Straxus was sold out last month. I was lucky that someone canceled their order and I took their place instead!
I was about to comment something like, "What are you talking about? He never sold out and is currently still available." But that would be my American exceptionalism showing since, y'know, no other countries except The United States exist.
As much as Shockwave is my fave. Straxus deserves a review. People waited so long for a leader G1 Straxus. We’ve seen those other fellas like…. 7 times now
a Straxus main review would be perfect, but mayhaps throw Grimlock and Shockwave into a potential future group review for each character? i dunno, just a cheeky idea i got
When i saw this pop in my feed, i thought oh good Straxus must be getting shipped out soon. Lo and behold, i got a notification that Straxus is on the way soon
Those aren't just Marvel UK comics, those are the original Marvel comics! I know, they got adapted for the UK comics as well, just saying they are not UK original. The art of the Dinobots with what looks like Ironhide is actually Ratchet. He was the one who found the Dinobots in the comics.
Hate to pile on, but Straxtus is the obvious one. Grimlock is excellent (he's my son's current "bedside table" Transformer), Shockwave has the awesome box but nothing else, but they're just... normal. Straxtus is a weirdo and we love weirdos.
I was really counting on you Thew to also point out the goth eyeliner on grimlock. The shading on these guys work great as other things. Wether we want battle damage or just body paint
So happy that your hustle is making strides for you, Thew! Keep being awesome because your videos rock!! Edit: Would love to see a full review of Grimlock!
What I find fun about the issue that introduces Straxus is it does take a lot of visual inspiration from the movie (presumably because the designs were already floating around the offices), things like Breachcomber's Cybertronian mode just being Kup. And Straxus' alternate mode is Galvatron mucked about with a bit. So it's more a surprise they took this long to use him as an obvious cheap Galvatron reuse.
Yes, the Optimus head fits on the Earthrise mold. Though the Earthrise head does not work on the harness because it doesn't have the gap in the back for the hose connection.
Just pre-ordered Straxus and I'm super pumped to get him! Tbh I don't have much attachment to him as a character, but I LOVE big chunky Decepticons, and Straxus is probably my favorite of that category.
The perfect G1 Shockwave toy for SS86 would be: comic version colours without the excessive ink marks, plus the Takara 3-pack version's silver backpack barrel and with the original Siege version's forearm Decepticon symbol placement but no additional armour parts. Studio Series backdrop diorama would be the Decepticons' base on Cybertron from the opening scene with Laserbeak in the movie.
Paging through TF Cybertron Redux, and though it's been a while I do remember Straxus being introduced in like Issue 17 or something. Completely forgot he actually transformed in the comic, and impressed how comic accurate the toy has come to his space turret mode. Very cool figure. Really hope we get a variation of Straxus in mainline as the exclusive will be near impossible to get at this point.
Now, as soneone for who the cartoon was something I maybe got to rent three episodes of some weekends from the local VHS rental, the comics were always the prime Transformers universe for me, man. In Sweden we mostly got the original Marvel stuff, with occasional dips into the UK stuff. These toys felt like they were made especially for me - especially Shockwave and Straxus. I got the Shockwave toy more or less just for the Optimus head. Man, that was a wild storyline for me when I was like 6 or 7 or something. Straxus I always though was very cool, and I've been missing having a toy of him on my shelf. I was contemplating getting one of the old Darmounts from eBay but this is just so much better. The only one I haven't gotten (yet) is Grimlock. I've just never been a fan. On the other hand, comic Grimlock was a lot more smart than the other versions, and the storyline where he became Autobot leader and Blaster and Bumblebee went into hiding for a bit… that was absolutely awesome stuff. And I recently got a good Blaster toy so… Maybe. Also, I wonder when we're going to get a toy of Spanner.
Straxus review is a must
"Say the LINE, Straxus!"
A retrostractive if you will
I'm here for it, everyone knows Grimlock and Shockwave, Straxus is relatively unknown and I'd really like to know the lad better through Thew.
Yes 👍
For sure
Straxus being a Galvatron remold is actually comic-accurate! The one time we saw his alt-mode, he clearly had a Galvatron-style body-plan.
I second this his alt mod is extremely similar to Galvatron's
I got an ad that was just an entire episode of g1 for this btw. Didn't know that could happen
Ooh, which one?
Not too surprising since that one dude who made the entire Lego Movie an ad
I've gotten ads that were just entire episodes of Prime.
I got that but with earthspark
Finally ads that are actually good
7:44 Grimlock is very specifically supposed to have the chipped sword, because it's based on how José Delbo drew Grimlock's sword in the comics apparently.
I saw it as a sword breaker. Back in sword times, people will give blades teeth or cutouts to catch opponents' swords, once locked you can redirect and yank it off their hands. As if grimlock doesn't already tanks through the hottest of battle, now he has a sword to disarm the enemy's tiny advantage
and if I remember correctly, the sword with a hose is Swoop's
@@harutakami1313 The hosed sword is for Sludge, Swoop already came with his sword
Straxus please as the other two are just repaints.
Straxus for the review!
Straxus looks like a god damn metal devil-dolphin, thing friggin RULES
I wanna say Shockwave, but... yeah, do Straxus.
11:06 Thing is, that's where the Siege version with the extra gear shines, because it fleshes out the alt mode into a Yamato-ish battlecruiser with a big gun up front, which feels like a natural evolution of his original alt mode like tanks were for Megatron.
Straxus gives you the most hype, I think he's the only choice for a full review!
Thew's interpretation of Godzilla-as-Grimlock being the Tim Allen grunt is all the LOLz
Straxus no doubt
Straxus for sure needs the review! We get a shockwave and grimlock pretty much every line
Please do a straxus review! The lord of Darkmount demands such!
Straxus is definitely the one that needs a detailed review, since he's the only one that's a remold and not just a repaint.
I’d say Straxus would make a good review. Mainly because Grimlock and Shockwave are recolors of their SS and Siege toys, which are really good but Straxus seems to be a retool of Galvatron.
Yeah. It's gotta be Straxus for the deep dive, because you're not getting another one of these anytime in the next decade.
I'd like straxus, he's the only one with actual changes in the mold so I feel he deserves it
Look. Straxus is one of the biggest characters in Marvel transformers. Ya gotta do him
Id say Straxus, cuz at the end of the day its just Grimlock and Shockwave. Which we get so very often, but rarely Straxus.
Straxus deserves a full review
I'd love to see Straxus! The other two are just repaints with new stuff (and also Gav Spence already reviewed those two if that makes any difference at all. Not to say that his perspective makes yours redundant, of course.)

Straxus as a retool of Galvatron is fitting since he was based on concept art for the first Galvatron toy.
Straxus is the most Thew's Awesome Transformers Reviews choice. Shockwave and Grimlock can get reviews by Peaugh and Baltmatrix and the like.
Straxus review definitely, we've seen plenty of grimlock and the Shockwave toy's day has already come and gone....
I think Straxus deserves a review the most cuz of all the new tooling and he’s a character we don’t see often enough in toy form. Grimlock and Shockwave are great, but at the end of the day they’re just Grimlock and Shockwave in cool comic decos
I don't think I'd ever heard of Straxus before! Fascinating guy, definitely my vote for a review!
Straxus is probably the best candidate for a full-fledged solo review, seeing as he's a more obscure character who isn't seen as often as Shockwave or Grimlock, who get new toys in every single line. Those two would be better suited for a brouhaha styled video.
Straxus 100% deserves an individual review
Straaaxus. Straaaxus! STRAXUUUS!!!
Did not expect Straxus to sell out so quickly damnit.
They all did, which is a damn shame.
Let’s just hope they do a package refresh or a dedicated stratus mold later in the next trilogy of mainline generations toys
Where are you from? Here in the UK Hasbro Pulse, Straxus was sold out last month. I was lucky that someone canceled their order and I took their place instead!
It's almost like a toy of him is a sight for sore eyes.
Even more so in his comic accurate look.
7 times now
I think Straxus is the toy you could come up with the most interesting things to say about.
a Straxus main review would be perfect, but mayhaps throw Grimlock and Shockwave into a potential future group review for each character? i dunno, just a cheeky idea i got

The art of the Dinobots with what looks like Ironhide is actually Ratchet. He was the one who found the Dinobots in the comics.
I feel like Straxus would fit best for your style in a full review
Straxus for the review
Oh wow. A "young ones" reference. Nice.
Go Straxus. He is a nice figure.
Hate to pile on, but Straxtus is the obvious one. Grimlock is excellent (he's my son's current "bedside table" Transformer), Shockwave has the awesome box but nothing else, but they're just... normal. Straxtus is a weirdo and we love weirdos.
Straxus definitely to go with your darkmount review
I was really counting on you Thew to also point out the goth eyeliner on grimlock. The shading on these guys work great as other things. Wether we want battle damage or just body paint
If we only get one, Straxus! He's the only one without another release. Would love all 3 though!
The sword with the chip missing in the blade is grimlock’s comic accurate sword, the other 2 are for Sludge and Slag
Absolutely a straxus review. Last toy we got was 2010. I can't wait to get these
Straxus of course. Being we've had several releases of Grimlock and Shockwave.
Straxus Straxus Straxus Straxus Straxus Straxus Straxus Straxus Straxus Straxus Straxus Straxus Straxus
Straxus review is a go ;)
So happy that your hustle is making strides for you, Thew! Keep being awesome because your videos rock!! Edit: Would love to see a full review of Grimlock!

So it's more a surprise they took this long to use him as an obvious cheap Galvatron reuse.
And I remember as a kid seeing a grey 'shockwave' in Tandy and thinking, well that's obviously a knock off (even then)!
Oh how nieve 😂
I had a parcel the size of a car turn up yesterday. Build your own G1 Optimus out of diecast metal? Yes please, Santa!
Thew mentions 180 pound Deathsaurus and I'm like, "it's not that heav... ...oh yeah the currency".
Are you implying a 180lb Deathsaurus would be light
I wasn’t expecting to hear a Young Ones reference here, I was even watching that very episode today!
STRAXUS
Do Straxus please!
Yes, the Optimus head fits on the Earthrise mold. Though the Earthrise head does not work on the harness because it doesn't have the gap in the back for the hose connection.
I think straxus has the most meat for a review.
straxus, no question.
Got the Newage Straxus awhile ago and he fulfils the right kind of comic nostalgia. Alt-mode a bit dodge, but robo-mode bang on.
Straxus is the new freshness. Plz spill your brain-guts about it
"There's nothing that's not gonna be explored."
ANODE PLEASE HASBRO
Straxus
Just pre-ordered Straxus and I'm super pumped to get him! Tbh I don't have much attachment to him as a character, but I LOVE big chunky Decepticons, and Straxus is probably my favorite of that category.
Having all 4 of the currently released GRIMLOCKs I can safely say I love that mold and want more of them
While that Grimlock look good on camera, it is even more impressive in person! I adore these pieces!
"It's this guy again, but slightly more differenter!" - Hasbro
This must be one of the best Shockwave figures ever. I love the colour scheme. Sick!
These comic book decos look amazing!
I really hope that Amazon exclusive Impactor figure gets the same treatment.
Hoping to send thew a box soon ps new thew video!! 🥳 keep up the great work man and rock on!!!🤘
Definitely want to see a Straxus review. He's the one I'm most excited about. You could even squeeze in the Generations 2010 one in for comparison.
I'd love to see your review of Grimlock
STRAXUS
PLEEEEASEEE
I'd love a review of all the times that the Shockwave opening panel was replicated. Marvel comics are how I got into Transformers!
Fun fact: if memory serves the Optimus head that comes with Shockwave apparently fits on the Earthrise body
19:07 Purple Soundwave. It's a legitimate shock that he wasn't in this.
we definitely need a review on straxus! he needs more love
I always love seeing a bit of Straxus
STRAXUS!!! shockwave and grimlock may be snazzy but they're old hat!!
Paging through TF Cybertron Redux, and though it's been a while I do remember Straxus being introduced in like Issue 17 or something. Oh Straxus yes, mine was shipped today along with Swoop.
I got Grimlock and Shockwave, they look so good, I hope they do more comic style decos
I think straxus is right up your ally as a obscure g1 charater
Straxus deserves more recognition.
I already pre ordered Straxus. Beacause he is mine sec fav transformer. Awesome video Thew!
Definitely a review of Straxus. It looks superb.
Straxus...what you'd review to as 'a lovely bastard!' Definitely for the review.
I didn't think I'd really be fussed by any of these, but that Grimlock 😮
Definitely Straxus for the review! Maybe even Generations Darkmount for a second round
Gotta be Straxus up first. Good looking retool of one of the nicest non-Dinobot leader class molds in many years
Only time I remember Shockwave being red is Animated Shattered glass
Also Straxus review is a MUST.
Gotta vote for Straxus. He's clearly the top one here!
Straxus is the only one that makes sense for a review since it’s the only one with a bunch of remolding
Now, as soneone for who the cartoon was something I maybe got to rent three episodes of some weekends from the local VHS rental, the comics were always the prime Transformers universe for me, man. We NEED a larger Shockwave as soon as possible.
That Straxus looks great
full detailed review on Straxus is a definitely!
