    I accidentally left out an important tip, and that is to clean off any existing dirt and rust from your frame, then apply the fluid film. Also, if you just do not have the time, you can still apply the fluid film this time, as it still will help, and get to cleaning and/or wire brushing those spots on the frame next time.

    I would have treated all the existing rust by wire brushing the rust then using a phosphoric acid to convert the rust. Then, I would spray the fluid film on top of the treated metal to prevent further rusting.

      I was thinking the same thing. Maybe the rust inhibitor then the rustoleum rust paint and then this fluid film ?

      I agree. I believe it would have been even better to have followed those steps.

      Hey Randy, Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you found the video helpful. Now that I've gone through the process once, the ease of application and inexpensive cost, makes it more likely I'd apply a light coat for maintenance when needed. Cheers.

    A have a JL. You can fluid film from the bottom of the doors through the water holes. A can of FF with the red straw works great for this. Also, a couple holes are behind the foam on the hinge side of the rear doors. You need to remove the foam to get to the holes. A small plastic pry bar worked great to pull on the plastic clips. Did my best to aim behind the hinges. Fluid Film helps against Aluminum corrosion as well so I hit as much as I could. I also sprayed through the holes under the hood. Tried to hit the underside of the hinges as much as possible. The hood has a lot of access holes underneath. Since Fluid Film creeps it's a good feeling to know that it's spreading rather than rust.

    Hey Dino, excellent video, again !!!
    Man, you are the real jewel to the Jeepers community, with all the ideas, how-to-dos, tricks and tips, money savings etc.
    Also, many THANKS for mentioning me in your video for the subscribers tips. 😀
    Not sure if I missed the info but can you repeat how often would be needed to re-apply the Fluid Film?
    I got "tricked" by the stealership here in my town, when I bought my new JL to add the undercoating and seats stain protections (at hefty cost)... While seat protection was apparent gimmick immediately and that stain protection DOES NOT work (or they never applied it but said they did) , the undercoating and rust protection was a big surprise for me when I went underneath my Jeep changing my front bumper... They applied it, literally randomly covering some spots and missing others... Looks like someone just squatted and sprayed the Jeep from sides without even going under it... Pointed that to the service manager and was told, if I get them to lift my Jeep with the Mopar lift kit, they will redo the coating "for free"...
    I am going to Princess Auto tomorrow (my favorite Canadian store) and getting the supplies, spraying going on in a week or two, and not only because it is cheaper, but more importantly, because I will make sure every square inch is covered... Luckily, I have the compressor already...
    Thanks again, keep the channel growing and cheers, Nash

      @CheaperJeeperTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Nash, The dealership should have corrected their poor application if the rustproofing without trying to hold you ransom to buy more from them. That’s unreal.
      Thanks for the feedback on the video.
      Now that you plan to do it yourself, you can reapply the product every year, OR where and when as required.
      For example if you go wheeling through mud and sand, you may want to reapply more often, should you feel the product had need rubbed off. That’s the beauty of doing it yourself, as you can do it whenever you feel the Jeep needs it. It’s surprisingly easier to do than you think. Have fun.
      Cheers.

    Do you have a video on how to spray inside the doors,hood,tailgate rockers and inner cavities? Thanks for the videos.

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Randy,
      In the video, I showed how the long tube/hose attachment does a wide spray, and I fed it through the frame holes to get at the inside of the frame. It turns out, the doors and body panels of the JL are all aluminum, and therefore spraying the insides to prevent rust perforating through is a non issue, so spraying inside, I believe, isn't necessary.
      On a JK however, if you have holes from a previous commercial application, you can use those, otherwise, I guess you can try accessing the inside of doors through spaces where the locks and latches are? But, the short answer is, NO I don't have a video on that☺️
      The following video is more information on the corrosion issue on the JLs if you're interested.

      Cheers.

    I use Fluid Film its $45 / gallon. I purchased the gun to apply. I have a lift so it's easy to do. This lasts a long time on areas that are concealed but needs to be applied annually on the areas that are exposed. The gun comes with hoses to get inside the frame and body parts. Best time to do it is when the vehicle is new other wise clean the frame best you can.

    That was a great episode thanks for the video . I’m getting a new jeep and I’m wondering if from the start would it be better to first sand any rust areas and then spray rustoleum rust inhibitor followed by that rustoleum paint stuff to cover it all and then do the fluid stuff you put on or would that be overkill ?

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe I have seen videos online that suggest that you scrape off any rust before you treat the metal. So your plan doesn’t sound too overkill at all.

      Hey Luis, I plan to do it every spring and fall. I drive at least 50,000 kms a year and do a little off roading, so I think it will benefit from the twice a year application. If you drive mostly in the city, you may be able to get away with once a year. I was surprised at how easy it was, so I don't think I'm going to mind too much. As for the hair, all you have to do is avoid the stylist during covid, and wear a Jeep Cap. Free tip! lol

    Be careful Fluid film should not come into contact with rubber

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jochen, Thanks for the input. I’m not sure where I heard that Fluid Film is ok on oil resistant rubber and the rubber under your vehicle is ok. That it’s the rubber covered foam that makes up the seals around the doors is where you may have an issue. I wish I mentioned that. Thanks again for your tip. Cheers.
