Just finished laying down my first vinyl floor, thank you guys. Changed my blade twice, done all the mastic seal and the wife is happy. Again thank you, nice video to follow and easy to understand👍🏻
EXCELLENT - next time could you show a tutorial on a very complex installation, incorporating toilet, pedestal hand basin, bidet and curved bath + architrave in viny all in one bathroom. Thanks.
Really great finish, but wouldn't it be easier to lift the toilet pan a few milimetres and slide the vinyl underneath? There's probably a reason why you shouldn't do that. Liked and subscribed.
You nearly answered your own question there lol. Was in the trade for over 30 years, lifting the toilet can lead to leaks and snapped bolts which may be rusted and ready to break. For the little cost you earn for fitting vinyl, this would get wiped out in repair bills. A good vinyl layer makes it look easy, but there is a real skill involved. Especially when fitting around pans and hard to reach areas. Here in UK we nearly always free hand the fitting. In really awkward areas we can also paper shape the area if really necessary.
Thanks a million for this video. I laid some vinyl flooring in my son’s bathroom recently and I was dreading it because I’d never done it before. I made sure I had my iPad with me and followed your instructions step by step. I didn’t do a perfect job but I didn’t cock it up either! Thanks again 😊
@@bobcougar77 so at 11.55 you can see the back of the toilet where the outlet is. Our toilets are a mainly like this with the waste coming straight out the back. This would go into a plastic socket with rubber gasket that either carries straight through the wall into the soil stack or a 90 Deg straight down through the floor. We have never used wax over here (to my knowledge anyway) I’m not sure why it’s still used in the US when there are better alternatives. We can remove a toilet and replace it without fear of leaks (provided it’s not damaged of course)
@@djcwilso Thanks. It's always interesting how different systems develop in different regions. Here in the US wax rings were the only way toilets were installed for many decades. Siliconized rubbers seals have entered the market and are getting popular. No system is perfect but i can tell you I quite like the wax ring system. They are dirt cheap, forgiving to install and as long as you set your toilet properly, will never leak.
Fantastic video guys, really describes the process well. Im going to be laying some sheet vinyl in our kitchen next month and had no idea where to start, not feeling worried any more after this video!
😊 hey that tutorial was amazing! I've always had to fit lino myself, and I've always messed up around the toilet pedestal!! Thanks for making this video,.. and making it fun to watch too! 😅❤
Beautiful job 👏👏 thank you guys. you made it look so easy and I know it's not 😁 I've learnt a lot from this video I always wondered what the hook blade was used for lol I've got to say you guys are class 👍
Great video. Just finished installing Lino in the kitchen and followed all the advice. Looks great, not perfect but that’ll be down to me doing it for the first time. The hook knife was brilliant though didn’t find the blades very sharp. Which brand do you guys use?
I messaged them about this, they replied that they use Sweeney Todd blades, bought some off Amazon, it was for one of their carpet laying videos, but I also used them last week for kitchen vinyl flooring, much sharper than DIY store blades. Hope this helps.
Great video, thank you! Quick question: if you’re doing the floor and also replacing the bath panel, is it better to do the bath panel first? Or take the panel off, lay the floor then fit the new panel on top?
Wow it doesn't take long when you're a pro. I had a brand new lino put in my bathroom 2 years ago by a pro and the glue that was on the floor left over from the lino floor tiles caused a reaction to the new lino and it started to get black areas showing through. 2 years later the entire lino is black😂 its time for a new lino that's why I'm here to see if I can fit it myself but i may end up using the old lino as a template it's easier and i wont make a mistake 😂
Hi, why do you remove the tape before fitting? Just wondering as it is double sided. I have never done this before so just trying to understand every process. Thanks for this video, great video 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Umm. Did you say leave 6" extra all the way around and then you said you measured 4 ft so your going to cut it at 4' 6"? Wouldn't that only leave 3" on both sides?
Nice tutorial 🥰. Does the vinyl sheet come roll up like that or do you get it cut to a certain size? I want to know how much I need to buy for small kitchen and small bathroom.
Great video! Thanks. I'm still not confident it will work in my case. I have a gully in the middle of the room with the floor dropping 1cm per meter towards it. Do you think there is enough plasticity in sheet vinyl to cope with a slanting floor?
Hi guys you always create fantastic videos very helpful informative could you tell me how you cut vinyl plank flooring self adhesive to fit round toilets pedestals ect cheers
Wouldn’t it be easier to just install the vinyl without the vanity and toilet? Could you install the vinyl first and then install the vanity and toilet afterwards?
Best video I have seen ❤ explained very well . Thank you , I am going to do it same in my bathroom next week . I feel confident now , keep up a good work ❤
Wish I'd seen this before I did mine a while ago. It's come out ok a few of the cuts would have been much better if I'd known these tips. Also I didn't use a hook blade and slipped a couple of times. Good video!
Cracking video lads, I'll be doing my bathroom this weekend. Question though, when it comes to the ply for the sub floor what depth are we talking, does it matter? Is it just purely to make it flat so a 3.8mm would be fine?
Is the spray glue used a type of contact adhesive? I am putting some vinyl down tomorrow and struggling to find anything apart from contact adhesive spray.
So no one going to point out plug socket in bathroom and placed bottom of sink, honestly surprised you guys didnt mention it suppose to be professional lool bunch of cowbows and when water goes inside the sockets and causes a electrocution would love to see what guys have to say then
This was setup for demonstration purposes only the toilet and sink are not plumbed into nothing. This setup is place into wider space . To make it easier to film. Thanks for the concern have a great day
Lads, massive fan for ages. I do loads for social housing and the vinyl we use is from gerofloor or gerifloor, anyway, it is thick as fk (4mm) Really struggling to bend and get tight corners, i even use a heat gun to ease the c..t. any pointers on that? Cheers boys

A great tutorial. Thanks guys!
Glad you liked it!😊💪🏼
Great video, dont have a hook blade just normal stanley blades so i need to be careful, is their any need for sealant around toilet/sink pedastels?
I didn’t realize Lino flooring could be a diy. Your instructions were absolutely awesome. Thank you!
Deadly video Men, great detail
Good video
Amazing work bro, so easy to understand ❤hopefully i get it right when I do it, lol 😂 il keep you on play when I’m doing it.
Thanks mate good luck 😁😁😁

More great top tips how to lay vinyl flooring
Thanks 😁😁
Can I install over existing vinyl? Thank you! Great video
Awesome job
If im having new bath shower and toilet can vinyl be fitted right under these appliances would it be easier
Absolutely great cheers 🍻

Would it be ok to slide the vinyl under the toilet by lifting it slightly if possible?
Great video you guys rock🤘🤘🤘

Good vid guys , what is the primer , carpet spray do it?
Cheers
D👍
Just carpet contact spray 😊
Ok cool , you letting that dry before applying tape?
Would it be easier to remove everything (toilet, vanity) and lay it down. Also how to guard against water getting under it
It is a lot more work to remove, we recommend cutting around the toilet and vanity. The vinyl is sealed with sealant around everything. 😊
What is the tape called that you used? X
Anti plas tape designed for vinyls 😊
How will it expand if it’s stuck 🤷♂️
Nope been doing this 16 years 😊
Can you come to my house
Take the Toliet and vanity out. install floor out vanity and toilet back.... no fuck around. looks way better
£20 bit of vinyl nobody in the right mind is taking bog and sink out.

Exactly how how to videos should be. Straight to the point and informative. Thank you 👍
The hook blade was the eye opener for me. Thank you.
It's the best way to fit decent carpet too. Used to be a flooring contractor where time was money
Words can’t describe how thankful I am for you guys
👏🏼
The best video about to install sheet vinyl. I am now encouraged to do in my flat for rent. Thanks guys, well done.
Awesome! Thank you!
Easy way for toilet leave abit of access loosen toiliet base slide access under tighten toilet base
