One thing that I’ve often thought about with you guys is were you issued guidance about what to do with respect to Cold War threats? I’d love 😍 a video covering this and other contingency topics e.g. fire, medical emergency, power loss, drifting shipping near a tower, etc.

@@sparkydave2783 Hi I,ve got my work cut out getting the videos that I took edited, so no plans for deviating into that cheers....oops missed out replying to your questions...
      1) Cold war threats, you may notice in some movies some shipping etc charts on the walls, these were Soviet vessels to report if seen lurking
      2) Fire, there were masks to wear to enable you to breathe for short while in smoke. There were extinguishers everywhere and fire suppression in the engine rooms. Also a Davies escape system from the lighthouse gallery...but where are you going to go?
3)Medical, we had a pretty good medical kit on station along with some training into giving injections of drugs for major trauma relief, otherwise the lifeboat or helicopter plucked the injured one off.
      4) power loss, plenty of back ups from 3 engines to battery power to gas lamps and winding the lens around by hand.
      5) drifting ships, can't say I've ever come across this one but I guess you have the radio to call out help for them, hope this is OK, take care.

Always wondered how the water stayed fresh on the rock lighthouses? How didnt it run out?

Hi, we had our water topped up on relief days by ship/boat or helicopter and there were filters on the light.

An absolute Corker Peter. If only technology had left lighthouses alone. You can see and hear how dedicated these men were.

Hello fm camposano and hello the Phillippines. I don't know what happened to the lens, hopefully it went into a museum, some have gone into storage as we no longer have a Lighthouse Museum in England, take care.
