Nice kick-off. I guess I watched these out of order. I kept thinking head up, youre going to end up way south and east! Then I realized I knew the answer all ready. 😁. Love the basic content, you two are a joy to watch. Nice dance too Jon!
1st cuppa is served once sailing is settled down. Great video. The Azores is on our bucket list. We were in New Grimsby sound last June just in Hughtown for provisions and fuel before heading to illes de Glenanns and French islands before leaving Wave Dancer in Arzal on the river Villaine for maintenance and over winter. Looking forward to Atlantic France and Iberian Peninsula in 2025
Hi @WavedancerWesterlyfulmar Great comment. Someone else who likes to get the kettle on once underway. The Isles of Scilly are great in the right weather. We left from there in 2019 on our way south. Didn't have time to stop everywhere we wanted but did go to the Morbihan. It's beautiful around that area. Hope you get all the work done and have a great 2025 season 😁⛵
Looks fabulous.Exciting to go on a long passage . Sunrises are super colours. You look organised with your provisions. Hope you have enough tea bags and coffee 🤪 enjoy the experience. Safe sailing x🤗
Hello and thanks for the lovely comment. We like to be organised as food is as important on a long passage. You use a lot of energy with the constant motion and reduced sleep. Also it boosts morale if things are challenging and you have something tasty 😁👍
Great . Kept me interested, was going to ask about your log details, then low and behold you describe as ime typing this . Fair winds I'm following with interest
Hi @MOTOUK1 Thanks for the question. We made them ourselves. The radio and mic parts are EJEAS V6 PRO Here's the link: amzn.to/4g1RVET They are for crash helmets and have a great range. The headphones are just normal safety ear defenders. The two were put together using cable ties and black electricians tape to tidy and protect the wires. Very easy and a fraction of the cost of 'marine' versions. The trip is going well thanks. We arrived in St Lucia yesterday 😁⛵☀️
We do 2hours on 2off shifts overnight then we’re both up together most of the day. 1 hour on surveillance watch while other person chills in the cockpit but we are company for each other
Hello @WavedancerWesterlyfulmar We experimented with different watch patterns and found 4 on 4 off best for us. We found that you could not get any meaningful rest in a shorter off-watch period and the fatigue built up on longer passages. The Azores are incredible. If you are going there from Portugal don't miss Madeira and Porto Santo on the way 😁😁⛵
@ Hi Alison & John, we plan on the northern deep Atlantic islands tour in 2026. This year we will depart Arzal in southern Brittany taking in the French islands ( maybe revisit some from last summer) and make our way to Almerimar for winter haul out jobs as we finish preparing for the long journeys. Thinking of going to Cape Verde for push across Atlantic afterwards
@@sailingnovavita We experimented with 3-4 hours when we had the sons on board they would be on deck as company 4 hours we were alternating 3 hours so in the overlap there was always a buddy who didn’t have to do anything just kept company
Hello @Anglosaxon69 and thank you for your comment. We left the Isles of Scilly at the end of July 2024 and in 'real time' we are in the Caribbean, so we hope you continue watching the videos as our journey unfolds 👍⛵😁
Really enjoyed the no-nonsense video! Thanks for sharing :)
Hello @Boatlife69 We 're glad you enjoyed it. We try not to over-dramatise things, just tell them as they are 😁⛵

So obviously you didn’t leave on the 12th of January. It looks more like spring time or summer.?
