I have the Omega Loudspeakers 4.5" Bookshelves and Caintuck Alnico 'Betsy' 8" floor speakers. I've long been into single drivers and am a fan of them. That said, there have limitations dictated by physics. Too big and treble suffers. Too small and bass suffers. Add in a tweeter and/or a subwoofer and you no longer have a point source. Middle sizes like 6-8 inch and scale suffers. Single driver speakers struggle reproducing complex music. So we're back to multi-driver arrangements... If we're talking open baffle vs a box single driver, open baffle's need a larger room. It's always a trade off. Which is why we're never quite satisfied with one speaker.
I have similar experience with my full range speakers, I own something similar in concept to the sibelius (transmision line and one sonido driver) Melody Gardot is in the room, but with some more complex music my speakers lose focus
Intersting, I got a really different impression reading Steve at Decware's reports regarding they're ability to play loud with power. Cool to here your experiences.
Another fortuitous review that I stumbled upon. I'm considering this very speaker. In fact I had it in my cart but chickened out at the last minute. The very music you mentioned is my forte. Lii Song has a smaller floor stander for about a thousand dollars cheaper but it only has a six and half inch driver which may not give me what I need. Thanks for the review of the S10.
If you have the space to experiment with speaker position in your room and have good low watt amplifier, these speakers raise the hairs on the back of your neck with jazz, vocals and acoustic instruments.
@@hificave Thank you. I have a Willsenton 300b amp on the way and two rooms in which to experiment with placement of speakers. You might say that my whole house is my man cave but my home theatre room and living room practically speaking are large enough to accommodate my hobby. I'm running short of room because I have so many amps, turntables, speakers and other associated equipment that space is in short supply. Again thanks for the insightful reviews.
Salut la I have just ordered a set of F15. Just waiting for them to arrive in the Gaspésie. I'm a big OB fan having owned a set of spacial audio for years now. Going to try to build a set of 2 inch thick solid maple baffles no higher than 32 inches......would love a set of OBs but form factor of a set of heresy's. Fingers crossed!!
Looking forward to see your plans with the drivers. I'm in the same page as well. I love the sound but the box is too big for me and its quality is not good enough in my opinion.
Hi... It's clear to me that a full range is great for music that doesn't have many instruments. I have the wharfedale lintons, they are good speakers, but I want to upgrade and I plan to do it with a silver-10, and then add a w-15 to build a liionidas (crossover include) . But if I want to listen to the Lord of the Rings soundtrack for example, I will be short on sound or if I want to listen to Dream Theater. What speakers would you recommend to complement them and listen to more complex music?... Thank you very much for your reviews, they help us a lot.
Any quality 3 way speaker driving the by the right match of amplifier, and pair of subwoofers, but the Liionidas Extreme OB from lii-song are an exception here and can do big orchestra.
Not sure if I would like so much of the Soundstage pushed forward. Would be more interested in hearing the open baffle model that was presented on Thomas's video.
I still prefer the dual concentric which looks like one speaker but blooming heck certainly doesn't sound like one it's better. Gives you everything plus you're not confined to a genre of music like a single.. Only thing yes they're x2-x10 the price when built well..However piston drives lack just a bit of realism which is why I said to you I sold my Tannoy WR's.. Hard to explain but it's a lot to do with height and that's the problem with a cone unless you have loads of them going up to the ceiling!!! My explanation on this will follow PT2
For me a good pair of speakers must be able to play anykind of music equally. So you may have compromises in any of them which must be very acceptable. You are getting used to your equipment very quickly anyway and that mitigate your excessive requirements, yes they are often exagerated. Then you have only one pair of speakers and you play it all. I made my own baffles with the L15 drivers, so larger than these 10, the box is derived from a Karlsonator and that float my boat. The bass probably do not go lower but have bigger scale, the trebles are more than enough as most of us are deaf above 12k anyway, I chose to go with the 15.
@@chengo51 agreed. thanks. I rewatched the video, and rock rated " I like it but I'm being polite" for this speaker. So as much as I can appreciate what they bring to the table, they don't serve all my essential needs.
+1 for lap dance.
Won’t be a pretty site 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
No it would not!!
you look a bit fed up with that clippy he keeps showing of you Thomas 😂
Lap dance with Thomas... As long as I lead.
Love it. Funny
Man I could hear that bass with my headphones . Impressive… most impressive
Thanks for the honest review guys. Just shows how diverse a world HIFI can be.

Loud, sure, loud and complex music… its still good but not as great as vocals and more simpler acoustics at normal volumes.

'Hendrix' of the Cello? (you play left handed!) Great review!

Is that a coral speaker remade?
Do you think a well designed 3 W tube amplifier will drive the origin s10 speakers?
yep! but don't expect to play large orchestral music... or ACDC. :-)
What about comparisons to zu audio , although they technically have a tweeter , I listen loud and to Rock , Hard rock , Metal
I would recommend a different speaker then these for loud rock.
I wanted your feedback on the Sliver 10 room placement I never received a manual with mine.
Just the drivers? Or the orgin speakers with silver 10?
Hey should i combine these with tweeter drivers?
I don’t think its needed.
Can you tell what the difference is between Lii-Audio and LII-Song.
Same company. Lii-audio seems to be HQ in china. Lii-song are, Canadian and UK divisions.
Same. Lii changed the name about a year ago.
How did you set yours up?
not setup yet. building baffles. I will try several iterations. I will document it and share it on this channel when it's done.
Why would I invest in a expensive speaker that has limitations for different types recordings? Doesn’t make sense at all??
If you love jazz and dont care about the rest, very few speakers will give you goosebumps like this one at this price.
How do both perform with classic rock?

Yes!! Very cool. We could experience the same contrasts with every component and brands on every part of the chain. What a great hobby!!
