So many elements make this band amazing. The music, the charisma, the confidence, the originality, the tight live performances that somehow overcome the recordings. It's inspiring and beautiful to watch. I'm not sure who's enjoying this more, me or the band. The way the drummer dances in his seat and the guitarist fiddles with his pedals while the bassist grooves eyes shut. So good

Probably one of the hardest working rhythm sections of any band around nowadays. Saw them live around this time and the drummer and bass player were absolutely PUNISHED. I was truly impressed.
Maybe it's my shitty computer speakers but the bass is no existent and the guitar is to loud, and id like a little more of a full drum sound. I don't think the sound is all that good at all. But this is the first time I've ever heard this band. Maybe this is their sound. I like the music, it's just to much treble.
I can accept that. It just sounds like a bootleg of sorts with all the focus on the guitar and vocals. I have listened to a few KEXP shows, thought the sound was better. But to me when the treble is that high it sounds piercing and makes me want to stop listening.
They played a gig a couple of months ago at a small Bar in Lima, Peru. It was a freakin massacre. During The Dream, Dwyer carried all equipment in the front to the back of the stage so we could all climb up the stage < 3

ive watched this and a bunch of other live vids so many times and dwyers guitar playing is something i just cant figure out. its like he just bashes away and everything comes out perfectly. i cant think of anyone else who makes it look that easy.
Well he sure has classic rock influences which is something i find unusual. I mean like classic classic rock melodies which most bands of this type cover up with blues, rock n roll and punk stuff. Maybe not so many oriental influences. He also plays some quite trolly riffs. I believe he's trolling a lot some riffs are like they came out from an old goofy cartoon.
Hes good at muting the strings that are not being fretted with either his index finger or thumb. Thats how he can bash the guitar and still make it sound clean.
He is not really playing complicated stuff, if you listen to the phrases, because they are just very basic licks. It is more how he conveys them, that gives him the impression of artistry, not so much his musical "talent"

The KEXP sound engineers are so good. Be in in-studio live or on-stage live, everything sounds so damn good. Always. It's pretty awesome to get this kind of consistent quality from them. I hope they are appreciated as such by their piers. Not much needs to be said about Thee Oh Sees that they don't already smash you in the face with. So bad ass!

I come from the underground prog and djent scene and I just recently decided to explore this wave. I didnt understand this stuff for a while but Im certainly coming around.
