I met John Dwyer once, it was the craziest thing. I was at Sam Ash, looking for some new strings, and I saw him walk through the doors. I tried to say I was a huge fan, and was looking to ask for maybe a selfie too, but he just ignored me and walked straight to the microphone department and started testing each mic to see which best fit into his mouth. Pretty cool guy anyways.
I remember meeting John, i almost stomped him. The man's so tiny, he's like 10 inches tall max. Then he sat on the table and we drank some beer. He drank out of a bottle cap, because cups are too big for this little man. It was hilarious.
I ran into him at the Panda Bear show in Highland Park. I was chillin by the merch table and I looked up and there he was, told him I was a fan and was looking forward to the next album. He was cool, smiled and thank you and proceeded on his way. 10/10 would say hi to again.
I once met Dwyer in hospital, he was having the Roland space echo implanted in his chest and a couple of xlr sockets and a 13 amp plug permantly implanted upon his person. Pretty cool guy.
Legend has it, John's SG used to be cherry red but he plays it so intensely-squeezing every bit of beauty and passion out of it. And it is now a hollow shell that is honored to serve the rest of it's days with John.

ive got a funny story actually. I was in the airport for a flight from France to Germany, right about to board the plane when I saw in the line in front of me the legend himself, John Dwyer. I told him I was a big fan and asked for a selfie (he looked at me like he didn't know what i was talking about hahaha) and then y'know continued waiting in line as usual. He started causing abit of a ruckus when he was about to go on though. He brought WAY too many suitcases, all completely full too so they were heavy. The woman there tried her best to handle the situation as John loudly scolded her for "trying to rid him of his pedals" and "belittling his musical greatness". Eventually she just let him pass through (after about 5 minutes) and the line continued as usual. On the plane he pulled out a generator which he connected his amp to and started playing the same riff for the whole flight, putting it through every pedal he had. Pretty cool guy.
We always love a good generator powered live show on the plane. One time I was on a train ride from seattle to victoria and john and the boys were packing their gear in. Well the conductor got mad because he wanted John's Music Man 210 HD amp because his father owned one and he believed it was his birthright. Well John simply plugged his gear into his portable phone charger and played the intro to enter sandman twice and then he put his stuff away and left as the conductor peed himself.
I feel like one of the things that makes Dwyer and Co's music so great is that it gives their fans, who I've found are usually nerdy stoners suffering from self-inflicted isolation like myself, a feeling of intensity that radiates coolness that isn't actually cool by any common standard but only by its unashamed strangeness that wedges itself right in between familiar and unknown. They aren't the only ones that can do that, though its not common. I think it just simply takes not paying any mind to the people who would laugh at you when you express yourself to the fullest, people latch on to that especially when it is an expression that you can relate to either by taste or canon. That shit gives me hope

Arguably one of the best bands in the world, currently. I don’t say that lightly. If you’re the type of person that enjoys digging up places to discover and going on an incredible journey with a bunch of drunk and high 20-somethings, you should really consider seeing the Oh Sees. It’s a rager every time
Wow, he looks a lot taller on camera. When I met him he was only up to about my shin.
It's edited :)
I once met Jon Dwyer shopping for gear. The dude just straight up activated every pedal at once just by looking at them. Then he made them all fight to the death to decide what to buy. They all failed and he just left, after saying thank you of course. Super nice dude.
Love this version of snickersee
