In 2014 I was 15/16 and got into Thee oh sees. By this point i had been playing guitar for a few years and had done all my "required" music listening, but hadn't really gotten into many contemporary acts. John blew my mind and turned my world upside down. I had been recording a little bit of music at that point but once i saw Thee oh sees I knew i had to buckle down and do it. 6 years later and nothing has changed.
Most certainly - more than ty segall, gizz, ORB, or even the white stripes.

The drum beat is so simple, but the drummer looks like it hurts. My conclusion: he is tripping mad ballz.

Saw these guys 5 times in Chicago. First time was 2012 at Empty Bottle. Took a girl on our first date to see them. We now have a kid. Power of music.

Gosh, it’s pretty alarming to see how much Stu Mackenzie straight up copied Dwyer’s stage presence. And I listened to King Gizzard a lot before jumping into Oh Sees.
I wouldn’t necessarily say stole. I’d say Stu was heavily influenced by John’s style but there’s a major difference between what Oh Sees and Gizz are doing. I see what you’re saying however, but I’d say the comparison is more akin to Grateful Dead -> Phish. Still captures the same audience and still reside within the same realm of music, just executed in drastically different ways. Gizz really came into their own stylistically after Mind Fuzz imo, everything before then is for sure just an Aussie Oh Sees knockoff

No you're right it's a jazzmaster. They look quite different (3 jaguar style pick ups on the VI, four switches on one panel and a slightly different body shape) I'm tired of the number of people who try to look like gear nerds but can't tell a jazzmaster and a bass VI apart.
