  • Torticollis is a condition in which a baby's head is "twisted" or turned to the side and tilted to the opposite side. Here the babies have their head tilted to the right and turned to the left. It can also happen in adults but this playlist is dedicated to the treatment of torticollis in babies. I would like to thank Bode's family who allowed me to come into their home for 6 hours at a time to film him starting when he was 1 month old. ...And then to return and do it again. Wow! Bode does not have torticollis. Bode was quite tolerant of being turned and stretched this way and that. I hope you find these videos useful. If you believe your baby has torticollis, consult your doctor and a pediatric physical therapist with experience treating a child with torticollis for a program specifically designed to address your specific child's recommendations. Do not delay. Earlier treatment is predictive of better outcomes and shorter treatment.
Here are the clinical guidelines for treatment of congenital Muscular Torticollis:

Since these videos are presented in progressive order of difficulty, it may be helpful to watch them in order. Here is the link to the playlist: • Torticollis Treatment

If your child tilts her his head to the left then he likely has left sided Torticollis. Here is the playlist for you.

    Hello. Thanks for the video.
My baby- 2 months- leans her head to the right and down. Has no problem looking right, but doesn’t like to look left (if that makes sense). So should I do the first stretch you demonstrated exactly as shown in the video and the second stretch the opposite?
*I’m have a referral to a PT from her pediatrician, I just wanted to do some stretches to help her in the meantime.

I can’t answer your question specific to a single child. However, I can say that if I muscle is not tight that I do not tend to stretch it.

My two year old has congenital torticollis and even though we did PT when he was 10 months his tilt still persists. The physical therapist recommended the TOT collar. What do you think about the TOT collar? Is there something else that I can do to help him. He fights so much the stretching exercises.

    • @pediatricPTexercises

If he tilts his head to his left and Rotates his head to his right, he has left-sided Torticollis. If he tilts his head to his right and rotates his head to his left, he has right sided Torticollis. On right sided Torticollis the right side of his neck is stiff and tight. If he has left sided Torticollis than the left side of his neck is stiff and tight.

Hi there! My baby tends to have opposite preferences depending if he's on tummy time or on his back. He has major difficulty turning to his left while on tummy time, and struggles turning to his right while on his back. It's the oddest thing considering he's stretching both sides essentially. We can't seem to have him turn both ways during each session, any feedback?

    • @pediatricPTexercises

Torticollis is much easier to resolve when caught as early as possible. You will have to work much harder to address her torticollis at 11 months of age. Additionally if she has a mass in her sternocleidomastoid muscle then recovery is much trickier. I recommend you find a good local pediatric physical therapist who can help you. I cannot speak to infrared light therapy.
