My family had so much fun with the pop can RCs. Cheap enough to buy a bunch. Made a track using household obstacles over a large area all over the floor, then eventually rope-lined track. Good competitive fun and have held up after many, many hours of racing. All still work perfectly without problems! Fast charges lasted a good amount of time.

The digger is actually sick for the money, that's insane. $13 USD for just a model that size is fair, working electronics for the money is completely nuts. Ez buy, thanks tom
Most kids actually dont need hobby grade rcs to have fun, what they need is something unbreakable, though I have said it before, have seen the 1/43rd scale $20 rc, that things amazing for the price. One often doesnt get proportional throttle and steering at that price. And it wont break if dont jump it.
I have the trike too mine changes colors and it changes patterns as well and if you stay on the throttle it makes a shifting sound lol. The smoke or whatever is actually cold and its like 16 to 18 dollars on Amazon It is fun to play around with
A friend of mine had his grandkids over and they had one of those weird ones with the wrist control that can raise, lower and go directly sideways. The things they could make that thing do were pretty fun and amazing. If you've got kids they'd have a lot of fun with one.

Taiyo /tyco did the Canned Heat range in the 90s/00s. They were actually pretty cool. Decent models too so they look pretty good just sitting on a shelf :)
@@TomleyRC All good, as for cheap rc's i recently rescued a Traxxas vxl ken block rally 1:16th scale from the e-waste container so that's my 2nd Traxxas I've gotten for free now. (Apparently just needed to charge the battery & it's missing a battery lid for the remote.) It has a bit wobbly c-hub on the rear right but otherwise drives ok & shocks are a bit too soft so had to crank the preload for it to not bottom out just accelerating & braking. And an original Tamiya Boomerang which also came from that e-waste container at the recycling center. Which I'm slowly working on, i need more ball bearings for the transmission to be fully ballraced, a new chassis & front bumper as the mounts for the front bumper on one side of the chassis & opposite side of the bumper are broken. Bodyshell & wing if i can't strip the paint off without damaging the bodyshell, i unfortunately made the rear wing a bit hazy using alcohol without looking it up if it would damage it but got plenty of the paint removed from it, might go quick & dirty using plastidip on the outside of the bodyshell & wing as it will be a runner anyway. First one i found is a Traxxas 1:10 gravedigger that had no servo saver, battery hold down piece & bodyshell. Got hold of a 3s lipo & a cheap 80a brushless esc used late may so I've been enjoying running that with my old 3300 kv 3650 motor i had sitting around. And re-used my old 2.4 ghz radio from another car that's in disrepair atm, really hoons now but still haven't gotten a bodyshell for it heh.
I agree with your choices except i think the excavator should be in recommend pile. I may be behind times but so many toy Excavators are so slow and so weak for much more money.
I have a similar 1/16 that I modified with a dumborc receiver, cheap esc and servo. That motor in the back gets fast with 2s battery and it is fully proportional now

Good video! I believe these RCs do have a role to play in the RC hobby. One of these little cheap toys may be all that's needed to get a kid or even an adult into the hobby. Not everyone has 40\50€ plus to go straight to hobby level stuff. 🙂 (We all know how low quality some of these are, you get what you pay for.) I have the orange "drift" Porsche and I've seen all the insides of it. That thing is quite fun and decent quality too. An actual tiny servo for the steering. Good value there. Keep vids coming Phil! 👍🙏💪

You need to wire that rabbit to a transmitter or a controller, it would make it extremely fun not sure if you could do it but if you could, it would be a lot more fun😊

No, you wouldn't be laughed at. The WPL and MN Models guys won't be at that sort of 1:10 scale event - at least, not in any numbers - but I think you should take your truck and go anyway. I once showed up at a crawler event with an HPI Wheely King, and everyone was really helpful and supportive. Risk it - I think you'll be glad that you did.
Never “miss something” or decide not to go because you’re worried about what people will think of your RC. If they have a problem with the RC you have, it’s exactly that, THEIR PROBLEM. All it will prove is their ignorance and immaturity. I’m an old school RC guy who’s in my 50’s. And every RC event I’ve ever attended, everyone was always nice, supportive, and helpful. This hobby is about having fun. Don’t ever let anyone else spoil it for you. If there are people like that there, just ignore them, they hate that. 😂
I totally agree with what was said before, eventhoug I've never been to such an event. As long as you're having fun and not doing any wrong to anyone, no-one has the right to say anything. Be yourself and have fun!! Doesn't matter how much your rig costs or looks like. Some people make incredible works of art out of cheaper RC models. And even if having it totally stock is the way you like it, have fun with it! That being said and considering most people will surely share this positive line of though, there are frustrated/sad/angry people everywhere, miserable people whose only "satisfaction" in life is to convince themselves they're superior to others by trying to make others feel inferior. It's just life. Be strong and hold your position. You ain't doing no wrong, just having fun! Be comprehensive, those people are sad inside and not having a nice time, even if they're laughing and acting like they're the best. Just my opinion. Well that was deep.... 😄

Definitely easier to operate than my 16 channel huina excavator (580 I think). But very impressed it has a metal bucket.

My son has almost the identical excavator. There are "bumper" buttons on the top of the remote that makes it rotate.

There are a lot of good Chinese cars with proportional steering, you just have to shop carefully, and the good ones only cost like 10-20 dollars more.

It's just life. Be strong and hold your position. You ain't doing no wrong, just having fun! Be comprehensive, those people are sad inside and not having a nice time, even if they're laughing and acting like they're the best. Just my opinion.

It’s not how much you spend. It’s how much fun you have. I entered a 10 year old redcat crawler into an event on stock nickel metal hydride batteries. Everyone was stoked to see it.
