Just to clarify, only the bezel insert is a mineral crystal This gets a sapphire. Only the bezel insert is mineral... Thanks for watching. Don't forget to subscribe!
@@vladpiranha Maybe but you have sapphire on the dial and mineral on the bezel so you are going to collect scratches around the dial. I would have much preferred ceramic which will not scratch. Failing that an aluminum insert which is cheap and easy to replace.
Help my brain...I wear my apple watch daily but always drawn to other watches (yes, I have autos and quartz and divers)... I love the looks, sometimes I think quartz is really the best way to go for durability and ease. Autos aren't really too much work either, I compare it to "grab a quartz = grab loafer shoes" or "Grab an auto = you're lacing your shoes up/sneaker" in term of time. Sorry for the rant.
This is a great deal for a +/- 10secs/yr high accuracy quartz movement, 300m WR, and sapphire w/AR from a reputable brand for only $425. This would make a great nice gift for friends and family that are maybe not "into" mechanical watches, but would love a nice every day watch. I love that they came out with this great "mid-size" (at least mid-size to me) version of their diver. I wouldn't mind if the indices were a touch larger, but that is being very nitpicky. The blue especially looks great, and hopefully they will come out with a Powermatic 80 version later this year. I'm guessing that would be priced in the $650-750 range, which still isn't bad.
Nice review Chris. I have the 43mm blue dial version and love it, even with the T-bar seconds hand. It is a little large overall but I really like the wrist presence. This 40mm version with the ETA quartz movement is very nice, especially with the +/- accuracy of 10 secs per year.
The quartz movement is a great pickup, much better than a powermatic 80 imo. I'm sure the powermatic will be more expensive as well when this is the more advanced movement.
I was really into the 36mm version but something is off with the proportions on this one. Looks like they haven’t increased the size of the hourmarkers and those just seem too small for the bigger dial.
I am very happy for those who wanted this watch in a smaller format! Now, if some brands could do the same thing, but in the opposite direction, it would also be nice to have some watches in a larger size! I just don't like having a small watch on my wrist, so below 42mm, no thanks!
The black gold version is available in Germany . The black and blue ones maybe later in April says tissot customer service. I checked the black gold version in a store. Watch is good. Strap is Very light and thin but smooth. Looking forward to the bracelet versions especially the black one. Hope it has a sunburst dial like the 43mm version
The mineral crystal bezel insert would be a deal breaker on an automatic fire me. The how have looks too short. Also the indices don't quite look dialed in quite right for aesthetice for this size dial. The whole thing doesn't quite look fine-tuned. But I'm glad they're finally adjusting away from the mostly passe trend of oversized watches. If you're going to make oversized that can't be your only size if you want to sell nearly as many as you otherwise could.
I like the look of these. It seems to fill a gap that Tag Heuer left of a good quality, reasonably priced Swiss quartz dive watch - Tag had the 2000 range & then the Aqua Racer, which they still have but is now overpriced. This Tissot is also 300m WR as the Tags were 200m
I’ve had my Seastar 600M for only a few months now and I have to take in in for repair due to rotor spinning while winding. I guess it’s prevalent in the powermatic 80 movement. Bummer.😢
Ceramic will be virtually scratch proof. The mineral glass bezel will scratch. Also you get no lumed marker on the mineral crystal the way Tissot does the, on the 40mm and 36mm Quartz Seastars. If they did a proper ceramic bezels, I’d happily of bought one of these. Disappointing when $200 micro brands all have scratch proof ceramic inserts.
I have 5 Tissot automatics, a vintage Omega automatic and a 1958 hand wind Hamilton. Love my Tissots. Also like my white dial Casio quartz. Would never purchase a quartz Tissot. I prefer my automatic watches
Just got this watch a month ago. Got the blue and put a blue rubber Tissot band on it. As close to the most perfect, legible watch I own. Now my favorite……and my “other watch is a Speedmaster.”
I've been a fan of the Seastar 1000 for quite a few years and have the old PM80 black version, The sunray dial is quite subtle but looks great. Tissot have not stood still though with these new versions. The date window although still at six is now framed and rectangular compared to mine that is more like a round port hole. The bezel insert apart from being mineral is a different design with more clear markings, my watch has chrome markings and a snipped 12 marker tip but in ceramic. The case side profile has also changed to a flat vertical brush and looses the rebate on the mid case. I'm not sure which I prefer yet. One improvement that might have made is to the bracelet clasp, mine is pressed but still works fine, a milled version with tool less micro adjust would be nice. Anyway mine has been consistent since the day I got some years ago, it looses around 5-7 seconds per day. Looking at the quartz movement it sounds like it may have taken some inspiration from the Longines VHP series that also has temperature compensation. Many thanks for sharing Chris, thanks for the heads up.
Have 2 seastar 1000's. One blue dial and the green on the mesh band. Just got the 2000 from Jomashop. It's a beautiful watch but my favorite is the green on the mesh band

Was about to get the 36mm, then I saw it in a store and how it at half the markers didn't even nearly hit. So Tissot's QC seem to be below seiko at this price point in some magical way. Have a 5 year old PR 100 Tissot chrono that hits all the marks. But doesn't seem to be how Tissot does things anymore. Also hear others report that the majority of the seastars don't get close to hitting most the marks.
Just noticed Bloomingdales has the 43MM Tissot Seastar Powermatic 80 green dial version with mesh band reduced to $450. Would definitely purchase one at the price but many have said the 43mm version is a little too big. This 40MM version looks so much better even thought it's just a quartz watch. @@Anirossa A lot of people say the 40MM Tissot PRX with its lug to lug width is too big but then it only weights 138 grams. While I like smaller watches, I also like watches that aren't too heavy. That is the very reason I bought a Seiko Alpinist because at 38MM it won't look big on my six inch wrist. I like the fact the bracelet on the Seiko comes with an actual milled clasp something you won't find on their cheaper solar and automatic watches. The crystal is sapphire but the bezel is mineral.... I know... it would be almost perfect. Guess I will stay with my Tag w/ sapphire bezel and crystal, but for quartz its' a great beater and I'm sure gray market prices will be tempting
Great video, good looking affordable watch. One thing though: the quartz movement in this is not on par with a Grand Seiko 9F. It's true that it does have thermal compensation, but the movement is not servicable like a 9F, and it is not sealed or decorated like a 9F.
Oh man so dissapointed. This needed a ceramic bezel insert with a lume pip not a cheap mineral insert. Perfect size, but Tissot cheaped out on the execution with no ceramic insert or automatic available.
No, not at all. You can get decent quartz divers from plenty of brands: Longines, Tag Heuer, Certina, Seiko, Citizen, Casio, Vaer, Dan Henry - among others...

Why do mineral bezel that will scratch? Sapphire or ceramic would be much better and an aluminum bezel would be easier to replace.

Is this a better watch than a Seiko prospex?
much better, won't lose time like all those automatics and it'll actually be shockproof
I will be all over the Powermatic version!
any news if this is actually coming in the automatic?
Are the numbers on the bezel easy and good to read? At some angles they look dissapired.
The bezel numbers in certain light conditions do disappear. Love the watch but not crazy about the bezel.
