As a poor grad student / former swimmer / lifeguard/ watch nerd who has loved your videos and always refer them to friends- love that you cover such a wide price range. I've swam and used my Casio Duro for diving, and the Orient Kamasu is my favorite piece in my modest collection (and it's also seen water). Feel like a diver is one of the best choices all around for someone starting their collection.

@@soraisfinallyhere1305 I don't have an orient, but I do have a Seiko SRPD and honestly the Casio rivals it. Of course the Seiko is better quality, but the bang for buck from the duro is incredible.
I should add that the Casio is quite large. I have 7.5 inch wrists and it's borderline large on me.

I have truly learned so much from your videos. A watch is such a part of the wearer, the owner. It's a part of their personality and history, or maybe just their mood on a particular day. They give us something to aspire to and something to look back on. So many beautiful tastes, styles, price ranges, etc. I love the way you catagorize these videos, still offering ranges within catagories. I love it!

I vote for the Orient Kamasu in generations I and II as the absolute king of cost-effectiveness in mechanical divers, followed by the Casio Duro in the quartz section. The Kamasu in particular offers great specifications and aesthetics compared to what Seiko has around $200.

another vote for the Kamasu. While I don't dive or swim, I am real rough on my watches, they get dunked in water every other day, the bezel gets used to time things and it looks professional enough manning the desk. Auto, sapphire and screwdown crown. I have it in red, and in the sunlight the red with the bronze markers look unbelievable to me.

You missed the chance to mention rado captain cook or golden horse as well as the grand seiko diver, but the video had some unusual picks, so nicely done

Hey Teddy, great video, thanks for covering all those price points.
Not about dive watches, but you mention a price hike by Hamilton, what are we looking at in terms of %?? I’ve been looking at picking one up so might have to get a move on!!😮😮

Thanks for including the Orient Kamasu. I think it was the only one w/ day-date, which is high on my priority list as a day-to-day watch function. D-D may not be important under water, but as I live in a desert, dive credentials aren't really that big a deal to me. While it may spend 90% of it's life bone dry, I do the occasional beach swim or river rafting trip and I don't want to cap the experience with a ruined watch.

Logged my 80th dive with the pelagos. It is memorable to me as we (the pelagos and I) encountered a mola fish during the dive. I think it should be on this list as I think it is THE BEST watch you can take underwater with. You have that piece of mind that the watch won’t break, with the helium escape valve etc. The pelagos is made for diving. I appreciate your video Teddy, great job as usual. but I think the pelagos should make this list. 🐋🐋

    Hello Teddy.
Another great video that is a real joy to watch. I'm forming a small collection of watches for myself and I've divided them in few categories. Bare in mind that I'm on a very tight budget. :) So, here goes :
    1. Digital : Casio G Shock DW5600WS-1
    2. Diver : Seiko 5 Sports SRPD53K1 or Orient Mako 2 FAA02009D9 (Leaning towards Seiko)
    3. Dress : Orient Bambino IV FAC08002F0
    4. Conversion Starter : Bulova 98B390 Parking Meter (I love the look of that watch)
    5. Daily Beater : Timex Expedition (Already have that one and it is a great as a beater)
    6. Chronograph : Don't know.
    7. Vintage : Not sure yet, but I like rally stile watches. :)
Of course, if anyone wants to adds something to the list, or wants to change something, you are more than welcome. :)

Recently purchased the Seiko SPB143. First one that arrived was a dud as the hands stopped when they stacked at around 6:30. However, replacement is absolutely great. These seem to be more readily discounted in the UK currently and I picked mine up for £770 (30% off RRP). I think if you can find a deal to bring it below £1k it is more of a no-brainer. At RRP it’s too close to Oris & other great options.
Beautiful watch and really versatile with straps. Have a grey nato which is great at the weekend and black sailcloth/tropic are smart & comfortable to wear to work. Want to experiment with some coloured straps next.
Thanks for the great content Teddy!

Great vid Teddy! Great breakdown. All my watches are dive watches lol, my favorite genre. Short term, have to be the Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba, the new 43mm one or the Seiko SPB143. Grail is still the Glashutte Oroginal Seq Panorama Date no doubt!

A bit surprised to not see the Mido Ocean Star included in the "occassionally in water" category. IMO it has the best quality steel bracelet for around $1,000 and it is made to be used for diver's extension. Also has that heritage vibe and date plus day to serve as a daily wear.

If i had to pick one, it would be the spb143. And i kind of did pick that, since the spb149 is my favourite automatic watch. But the Longiness Legend Diver is very tempting. Also if you want to consider bronze, CW C60 Trident bronze 40mm is incredible value for money.
