Did you know that the automatic version has plastic in the mechanism and designed to not be serviceable just a throwaway and that is the reason why I would not buy the watch
I actually like the cleaner simple face of the quartz version over the automatic. Simple and clean
yeh i tried out both and got hooked on the automatic's look.
they make the automatic with the smooth face in blue, green, sliver, black. I got the blue one
@@bt-xv1fywhere’d you see that
@@oliverfinkelstein8826 I got it on a royal Caribbean cruise, they had a the green and black also. I got the only blue one. Its on their website also.
@@oliverfinkelstein8826 the old versions of the automatic didnt have em now they do ,plain dial with diff colors on the automatic r now available
I bought quartz version as my first watch a week ago. Couldn’t be happier. The automatic has indeed a more “alive” feel to it, but I like the clean look more. I don’t think I would find nicer watch for this price.
I purchased the new 35mm PRX, quartz version, just over a week ago, & it's never been of my wrist since. I absolutely love everything about it, the styling, the size, the quality of the watch, the intergrated bracelet. A stunning piece to add to anyone's collection.
thinking of getting it as my first watch thanks
How has the bracelet hold up with scratches?? I heard the metal brushed finished is a scratch magnet?? It’s my only worry I have before purchasinft
@@lmaoboy8546 I was worried about scratches too, but mine seems to have held up pretty well.
Isn't 35mm on the smaller side?
@@JakeGittes84 yeah it is on the small size, but purfect for my small wrist. They do have the larger 40mm size available too.
Surprised not many people talk about the white face. That is pure class imo. On the quartz, it looks like more like a silver face and its insane how beautiful it is under any light
You mean that mother of pearl look?
Couldn't agree more. I tried all other colored dials, but the one with white face looks more class and elegant.
@@techforever1970 no
I think because its womens watch
@datadash8378 objectively it is not.
The only thing that made me choose the automatic version was the dial. I'm not a huge fan of flat sunburst dials, so I went with the Powermatic 80 with the blue waffle dial. It's an amazing watch if you recall that it only costs somewhere around 600-650€. The accuracy is very good too at +2.4 seconds per day in my case.
That's fantastic accuracy -- definitely worth it cause that beautiful dial
@@Mebble Yes indeed, that’s more accurate than my Explorer 1 🤯
Now it costs 750 wtf
650€ is a fuckton of money for a watch
@@ayudaporfavor It depends on who you ask! I was comparing the price to let’s say an Omega or a Rolex, which are fucktons of money more 😁
I've got the 35mm PRX quartz. I chose this version because it is way more practical (and the price helps of course). The only I do prefer about the automatic version is the dial, it is really nice!
Which dial did you get?
Auto for me. The texture waffle dial really makes this pop.
Agree with everything you said buddy. I'll go with the quartz. Cheaper, better looking, good quality.
Did you end up buying the quartz? If so do you like it?
@Anthonydp no. Tried the green, blue and black automatic. Seen the quartz and didn't like it. I've put the gentleman silver dial and I pull the trigger. Very happy with it can't take it off my wrist and it's been 6 months
@@nicolofurlan2278 do you purchased the tissot gentleman powermatic 80?
I would love to have the quartz if it came with waffle dial.
Same here mate! Hopefully they release it soon.
Currently wearing the powermatic 80 in blue, no regrets, a beauty, my signature piece ❤️
5:05 Amazingly, the quartz model moves backwards in time! 😉
😂😂😂😂
I knew somebody would have noticed that too. and was looking for this comment. Time travel for $300. Kudos to Tissot 👍
They should clean up the dials further. Lose the text. Do you need the seconds hand. No. Lose it. The date complication. Lose it. Who cares. The hour markers are superfluous. Lose them. Who cares what time it is, that’s what your phone is for. Lose the hour and minute hand. Lose the dial altogether as it’s redundant. Now lose the case. It’s now just an annoying jangling bracelet. Lose the bracelet.
100% agree
Lmao
So good 😂
Crown stays. Yeah baby
Had me in the first half not gonna lie
When it comes to fine imitation watches, gussl delivers. I've bought from them several times, and I've never been let down.
Automatic version for me every time. The waffle dial much more interesting. Wearing my BB58 Navy Blue on a bracelet.
Same and same on wrist watch. Love my bb 58 blue
I choose the quartz because I already have a ton of automatics, including a non-PRX Powermatic 80 watch, and while I love automatics, I'm running out of winders and patience to keep them wound so I can use them anytime. The quarts looks pretty close to the Powermatic version, is a more accurate homage to the 1970s Tissot Seastar since that was a quarts as well, and to top it off, it's ready to go without any fiddling no matter how long it's been in the drawer.
on my wrist is Seiko 5 Sports SRPD51K1 and this is my first automatic watch, this watch a reminder of my achievement getting a stable job for a year after finishing college and struggling getting a job because of the pandemic 2020 T-T
Just bought my powermatic today. Looks amazing with the dark green dial. Feels and fits amazingly as well. I feel safer knowing I don’t have to take it apart to change the battery
No you have to take it aparte te maintenance it........same difference.
Im not crazy about quartz watches. Im currently an automatic Seiko guy myself, but that automatic is sweet. I'm buying that Tissot Automatic.
If you are not sure which to buy because of the price, stop waiting and go for quartz. The dial is beautiful and tasteful, as is everything else about the watch. Having it on my wrist I would almost say that I like the dark blue sunburst better than any other color variation of the PRX, quartz or automatic. One caveat, mine doesn't hit exactly on the second markers, though it's close. It is hard to notice unless you stare at the end of the second hand, but it's there.
My experience with NKUWAN was fantastic. The watch arrived quickly and was exactly as described.
Powermatic is partly plastic mechanical movement which is disposable, quartz is the better choice on this one.
I just ordered a Tissot PRX 80 Automatic. Cant wait to receive it.
I got exactly that 2 days ago. 40mm with black dial. A gift from my wife. I literally can't take my eyes off it.
@@BilliamLegacy Just got mine, love it. Put in the middle of my watch collection case. Love it. Got the blue dial.
@@abbasrizvi9389 I'm now thinking of getting the blue dial with the quartz option.
@@BilliamLegacy Do it.
The quartz exists now with a Tiffany dial since this video was made. If you like dark blue or black, take automatic. If you want the Tiffany turquoise, get the quartz. Simple.
They are two different colours I think. The automatic has the glacier blue and the quartz is more of a mint green... I think!!
@@griggy1234 mint green and tiffany blue are two different dials on the quarts. auto has forest green and ice blue
I'd love to get a 35 PRX 80 Powermatic with a light blue waffle dial. Get your act together Tissot!
Love this watches. I have the PRX automatic, the waffle dial is what did it for me looks phenomenal!.
On the wrist today is the G-Shock GA-B2100. Great comparison between these two options, weighing this up for a while and they both look great but I’m leaning more toward the quartz, more to do with the whole life cost, cheaper to buy, cheaper to service (just change the battery) plus, the quartz model is more in keeping with the original from the late 70’s. TTFN
My thoughts exactly about the homage to its own brand rather than homage to you know who with waffle face. Same with the ease of service and the fact it'll be ticking when you pick it up. no winding no setting. Quartz for me.
Wearing my Seiko Alpinist in green and gold...love this watch!
I think the prx chrono is beautiful. But hands down the quartz is the better looking when compared to the automatic, strangely enough
Its not a tough decision at all, the quartz variant is cheaper, more precise, more true to the original and as a bonus it has a better looking dial as the powermatic 80. Waffle just doesnt do it for me. I went to a local boutique to make sure i picked up one that hits the second markers spot on and ive won horology for this year. The only thing i wish theyd make on the quartz is the framed date window.
What's the original called or looks like? I looked up prx and only this new one pops up
@@John-on3wt it’s not a PRX originally, these watches are based on the Seastar from ‘78.
I purchased the Tissot PRX 40 205 Quartz in Blue Suneay Brushed dial love it i decided to buy the Tissot PRX 40 Powermatic 80 Blue dial tried it on didn't like the waffle dial. Great video.
I have had my eye on this watch for a while. For some reason I want to go with the all gold tone quartz to go full 70's vibe.
Same. I absolutely love how it looks, tried on a 35mm but definitely need the 40mm. Its not an everyday every wear type of look but for certain occasions it stands out
Currently wearing a Rotary Regent Automatic, 40mm case, integrated bracelet, but saving for a CW C60 Pro 300 Bronze
In person the textured dial on the automatic version looks better. However there are downfalls to buying and automatic version. Realize the majority of the movement's parts are polymer and cannot be repaired. That means you will spend a premium over the quartz price to have a throwaway watch. The quartz is cheaper and may last longer than the automatic version. I have owned many Tissot watches in the last 25 years. The quality is slipping on their movements. The older automatics were repairable, but at a high cost. As far as the PRX goes, a safe bet would be to stick with the quartz version.
Thank you !
You know, you combine and talk about my 2 passions: watches and cars haha. Got yourself a new subscriber!
Went with the Citizen Tsuyosa instead. Liked the transition better. Somehow the PRX seems too clunky for me...
Wrist check. Prg650 lovin the auto light while driving at night.
I originally thought I’d get the waffle dial version since I thought it looked better in these videos but then when I visited my retailers and saw both versions in person man, I went with the quartz dark green dial PRX
I was about to whip out my charizard when I heard the intro music. Felt like a Pokémon battle
on my wrist is a casio f91W, works everywhere, al the time
You say that the Quartz Revoloution replaced a lot of automatic watches. My recollection of that time is that manual wind watches were still very much a thing back then. Especially at the lower end of the market. In 1981 went straight from a swiss manual wind to a Japanese quartz watch and was amazed by its accuracy and durability. It wasn't 'technically' more accurate it was demonstrably more accurate than any automatic or manual wind watch I have ever worn.
Probably a hot take, but I’m not really a fan of waffle dial. If they made an automatic not in a waffle dial I’d be in. On the wrist is the Glycine GL0327 Combat Sub.
The clean dial and the dial of the quartz version emphasize the 70's look of the watch and stick more to the original model
lovely watches, but have read that the automatic is problematic with adjustments but easy it's manufactured and operates
By the way the Genta inspired design has been around for decades. I bought a Seiko watch which looks very similar to the PRX in the 1987 for $60. This style is nothing new...but many folks act as if this is the latest revelation from on high.
on my wrist i have the sternglas naos automatic, really like the clean design and for a bauhaus style watch its really great value for the money, also love the leather bracelet. but for a more classy watch i am looking to buy a prx or gentlemen
If you want to pay double the price for a waffle background and gears in the back, have it! I personally love the quartz version, bargain pricing.
I agree but the seconds hand movement is dramatically worse in the quartz.
@@rafapazos06can you elaborate on that
@XxxXxx-yh5gz Sure, just stare at an automatic second hand moving and then do same with a quartz. The automatic has a continuous pace whereas the quartz goes in beats.
@@rafapazos06 yeah, i knew that. I just realized that I misunderstood your first comment. Thanks tho
Just picked up the automatic today in the blue, absolutely love it!
Oris Aquis Cherry picked up from Chisholm Hunter in Manchester
Great choice!
Currently wearing my Apple Watch, but that's because I'm at work. I would usually be wearing my Rolex OysterDate 6694 from 1969. I'm probably going to buy the quartz PRX today as well.
Just ordered the Quartz PRX w/blue dial. Wrist check; Timex TW2U11600. Cheers!
7:19 at the time of watching this video I am wearing my Seiko 5 Sport Sasuke edition on a blue rubber strap.
I will always prefer the automatic especially the waffle dial 🤩 ... but for the quartz dial there is a full gold 35mm or 40mm PRX looks super classy at super affordable price compare to the Vacheron Constantin 222 🤣
Yes I was wondering if anyone had gold. Looks great deal
The automatic in the dark green is on my shopping list; it's not a question of if but when?
Kaufen. Ich hab sie jetzt 1 Jahr. Herrliche Uhr
Black dial Omega Aqua Terra with the 2500 movement, the first one with a co-axial escapement.
@6:25 uhh ok you've clearly never bought a used watch then... Having clarity on the dial for what exactly the watch is, is really really important for re-sale. Imagine in 20 years, you pass by a PRX in a pawn shop among 1000 different other watches. You want to be able to tell exactly which version it is without having to look it up...
Currently wearing a Tag Heuer Carrera Calibre 5 in rose gold and stainless, a watch that has high sentimental value.
I really want a PRX but am having trouble choosing between all the options. Kind of want the all gold but the powermatics also look good! Too many good choices
What was your choice ? I'm in the same shoe
Trying to argue Quartz Vs Automatic using pure logic is fallacy. Quartz is less expensive, is more accurate, and requires less maintenance than an Automatic. It wins on all the basic requirements of a timepiece. Game, Set, and Match. Plain and simple.
Alas, Watch Collection is not logical, or else we'd all be wearing Casios.
I have the the Powermatic 80 PRX after selling my Quartz PRX. I just prefer the looks and like the see through case.
Of course, the fact that I picked up the Powermatic 80 for 25% off of retail on a cruise ship, and add on top of that that I had $120.00 cruise credit (free money) and my out of pocket was $385.00 (10 dollars lower than the current Quartz MSRP) might have helped make up my mind.
That was as close to a no brainer as you can get.
I have always associated a Swiss watch with being the ultimate in precision engineering so why on the quartz model is the stepped movement of the seconds hand is not even close to being aligned with the dial indices? If I was intent on purchasing this watch then for that reason alone I would choose the automatic version where the sweep movement avoids this annoying issue. Before anyone says “Oh that would be impossible as it’s all to do with mechanical backlash” then why do I have a quartz watch from a Japanese manufacturer which cost a fraction of the price has perfect alignment?
The good thing is that when it comes to watches the better performing X5M is cheaper than the X5. Quartz beats an old fashioned mechanical movement but they cost more.
7:40 i have casio f91w
Am I ok to be here?
I was about to buy the quartz version but now I'm actualy in doubt about what version I prefer 🤦♂
On my wrist currently is my silver dial Hamilton khaki on a blue nato.
Great watches, still not sure which way to go.
On my wrist today is my lovely oris calibre pro 400 kermit edition, in my top 3 favourite watches I own. 🙂🐸
I am wearing my Casio G-Shock GA 700UC. The army green model.
On my wrist is a zepplin swiss movement sapphire crystal captain dial
apple watch SE, ive got a tissot prx quartz on order
I just bought mine, automatic blue dial with blue leather strap
Whichever you choose, just be sure to get the 35mm
If you are a woman, then yes
Real men wear 40mm
On my wirst is the Holzkern Machu ( Automatik) or the Casio GA-2100-1AER I think ( the Steel cased one ).
SEIKO srpe51 on the wrist atm. It was my first step into an automatic.
The sunburst on the quartz got me even though I love automatics normally.
Same, I am not really into waffle dials and dig the blue sunburst dial quartz, guess I can save the extra few hundred dollars for another watch. 🤪
The waffle is very boring and the colors are toned down to the point where they dont even pop (green looking like black and even blue looking like black in some light situation), so the quartz high polish ones are the way to go, both blue and green are stunning.
Auto for me. Love the rose gold bezel and white dial the most. Love the entire watch except the clasp is just a bit lazy although it does look remarkable when it's on wrist.
I was gonna get the prx but I saw a Citizen Corso 2 tone diamond on sale almost $200 off so I got that and pan on getting the powermatic later
how long does it take to fully charge the auto. I had it on for a week and it still stopped in about 24 hours not 80. I like the auto but I HATE having to adjust it every time I put it on, so I rather have the battery or solar powered, This will be the 1 and only automatic watch I get.
I do like the powermatic 80. That waffle dial is beautiful and the back is lovely.
Rocking the Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer (bronze) today. Every time I wear it I feel I need to find my flying goggles :D
currently wearing the best watch brand: CASIO A-164w stainless steel back... cheap but priceless in sentimentality
Quaaaartz.. all the way... Period!!!!!
Notice how the seconds hand on the quartz doesn't line up with the seconds/minutes markers as it goes around. That would tick me off.. 🙂
The 80s theme here is so perfect. Great watch - the 80s had all the best designs.
The blue quartz surprised me how good it looked in person....gave the automatic a run for the money, which is the one I had my heart set on. Then I saw the blue automatic and new I had to have it. A great watch! Looks beutiful and I know I've had a few bad days at work were putting it on has cheered me up!
Wearing my Citizen Promaster Aqualand Dive watch with green and black bezel today. A tough watch...Great to wear when I don't want to risk the PRX getting scratched up.
Tissot T660 With the black dial on my wrist, what do you think about it?
On my wrist: Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 just bought today, in love with it!
Why quartz minute hand always doesn't align with second hand when hit the 60 seconds? Movement issue? Or user doesn't bother to adjust correctly
Love the 80’s retro intro
Great Retrowave opening, long live the 80s!
Wrist check, Tissot PRX Automatic (love it)
I got the mint green quartz one but i feel like i also want the powermatic blue dial… ahhhh i will have to buy it too. I missed a discount on it too
Just somewhat impulse bought the blue dial powermatic on the bracelet preowned for about half the cost of new. Waiting for it to ship to me right now. I'm hoping it'll be a good fit on my 7.25" wrist. I don't have a blue dial watch yet so it seemed like a good choice. Currently on the wrist is the Seiko SPB143
Where do you buy half price?
I bought it on eBay. I actually just sold it on eBay for $395. It's a great watch it just didn't gel with me for some reason.@@redditwiz
I prefer the quartz version. Not loving the waffle dial on the automatic version.
The face on the automatic is worth the extra money on its own. Both decent value for money though the auto gets my vote here.
On my wrist today is my gorgeous Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot Pioneer. 36mm’s of pure hand wound perfection.
A 35mm automatic would be nice.
37 would be perfect
