I have to comment because it worked well. Thank you very much. So, I thought about cleaning the throttle body because when I’ll be idling, my RPM would drop for a quick second from 800ish to 600ish. It drive good, started every time, but that has been going on for about 2 years. I cleaned it and now my RPMs don’t drop and no more vibrations. Thanks again sir 🤝🏽
Nice good job!!!! Glad u figured it out
Thank you for the video. It was super helpful to see how you removed the air duct and cleaned the throttle body. My Honda Accord's throttle was sticking and car would start and immediately die. I followed your video and was able to clean the throttle and now my Accord is running great. Thanks again for the video and step by step procedure on taking off the air duct and the way to open the throttle without having to use a screwdriver. You saved me a ton of time and money!!!!!
Hello, guys. I performed the throttle body cleaning on my 2017 Honda Accord. I did get the high idle after wards and check engine light. I looked through the comments and tried out the disconnecting the battery method. I disconnected it and waiting around 10+ minutes just to be sure and It worked. No more high RPM idle, and no more check engine light. Wanted to post this comment and hopefully help someone with that concern. Ty
Hey good job I also did video on this relearning idle if u want to watch it and know better understanding also I use scan tool. But u don’t need to just reset by disconnecting and the. Follow the video th-cam.com/video/7BqDatRz8WE/w-d-xo.html
How many miles does your car have ?
Hello Ghostdust97, comments like yours are very useful! Will probably run into that situation myself.
So. Did you clean the throttle body 2 times?
Or you just disconnect the battery to solve the problem (engine light and high idle??
I just cleaned mine. Now the car cannot start at all. It stalls right away.
Thank you for this video. Seemed to have fixed the problem for my 2017 Honda Accord! When I cleaned my throttle body through the car had a pretty much normal idle; at least how it was when I got it a few years ago! The whole process didn’t even take 10 minutes. Thanks again for the straight forward video and explanation!!
Welcome
Thanks for the upload. I tried this method and now my 2014 Honda Accord starts with no problem. However, power steering light, stability light and engine light came on. 🤦🏽♂️
Reset the light
Same here did you end up getting rid of all the lights?
@@noeldiaz1359jjjn 2:59 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
I’m having the same problem now did you ever find a solution?
Good to know you don't have to take out the throttle body itself.
Boss, that actually fixed my issues I was having. After a 3 days the engine light appeared and had code P0507.
Nice job
Thanks bro,had this problem stalling in red lights👍👍🔥🔥
GOD BLESS YOU R U SERIOUS you saved my life my accord ‘15 of 6 years has the same issue!
Oh wow long time anways I’m glad u found my video msg me if u need more help!!
This is the first step to change the high pressure fuel pump for P0087 code. Take the air duct and the throttle off to reach the bolts.
Ok thanks
Im bout to work on my gf throttle body it got stuck stuck hopefully all goes well tomorrow
I did this same exact job on my 2013 accord sport the check engine and few other lights came on , so I was told it was throttle body, in my opinion it would be better to remove the entire unit in order to clean it on both sides the reason is the opposite side is also full of grimy stuff also after you complete the job you need to reset the idle of the car by disconnecting the battery and let the car run for 10 to 20 minutes or until is warm and it will reset itself again.
I wouldn’t remove and clean u most likely will damage it
Hey I just followed your steps exactly on my uncles accord and I had CEL after. Didn’t have scan tool so I disconnected negative terminal for 15 minutes. Turned it on and CEL went away, but car felt a bit rough. Let it idle for idle relearn for 10min, still I can hear the vehicle get rough at different moments and idle goes up maybe 50/100 rpm when it gets rough, nothing crazy. Went to go get a scan tool to check and I got permanent codes P0102 (MAF SENSOR VOLTAGE LOW) and P0113 (IAT SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH VOLTAGE). Thinking that it’s the MAF Sensor I decided to take it out and clean it with MAF Sensor cleaner. I let it dry 30 minutes, installed back, turned the vehicle on and vehicle steady rpm at 750. I let it idle again 10 minutes and I can hear it get rough here and there, except this time no rpm spike of 50/100, it stays at 750 (I’m thinking the cleaning helped?). I decided to check the scan tool and still the same permanent codes.
When I went to get the scan tool I drove 5 miles and when I was coming to a stop I could see and feel the rpm spike 100/200 and then go back down as I came to a complete stop. Didn’t happen every time but I did notice that as well.
Also want to mention everytime I would see the code I would clear it and it would say successfully cleared, but then it would still be there under permanent even if I don’t have CEL
Would do you recommend I do to remove those codes permanently? Do I need to just drive like I normally do and let the system readjust? Or are these actual permanent codes that won’t go away with cheap scan tools and I need a good scan tool to remove?
Or am I screwed and there’s no cheap fix?
Not sure drive it for few days let it idle for good 39 minutes it will try to relearn
@@RBTheMechanic thanks for the reply! I’ll give it a shot. Is that 39 minutes not counting the time it takes to get to operating temperature? Or 39 minutes total?
@@RBTheMechanic hey I took your advice, drove it for 3 days and sure enough all the codes were gone! Seems as if the computer needed a few drives to recalibrate and make sure the problem was no longer present
@@mxgf514p7 oh ok cool
It's carbon build up on the intake valves messing up the airflow due to the GDI engines. It will get worse over the years. It's good to start cleaning it with solutions specific for GDI engines.
My 2013 Accord has 93k miles on it and I used the Lucas Oil GDI Deep Clean spray and sprayed it into the intake past the MAF sensor. Anyway, it worked great, it even got rid of that brief valve rattle upon cold startup. Runs smooth as glass now...
@@JohnBham79 rattle upon cold start is due to the infamous VTC failure.

Thank you I just used this video to clean my throttle body. I couldnt get the that rubber tube back on from the bottom end all the way like it was originally. I did tighten the bolts however. Hopefully it doesn’t come off. Do you have a video showing us how to clean the fuel injector on a 2017 honda accord?
No and no need to do that add sun fuel injection to tank it will do the job
@@RBTheMechanic ok will do that. 👍🏾
I did every step and cleaned the throttle body now I’m getting a purge valve code engine reading now. Any suggestions?
Reset the light and see if it comes back on check all of ur connections the valve is near by maybe u left it loose
Yo yo bro i just cleaned mine. Light came on how do I restart?
Power cycle or reset, take the battery terminal off then put it back after 20seconds
It worked, thanx!
I'm shocked.
Yeah this is must
I clean the throttle body and now the car is at high rpm.. how can I make it into normal ?
It will relearn idle give it few days if I get high rpm code and check engine light u can reset it
Did this now when taking foot off throttle the can feels like it "clunks" and slows down as if its downshifting. The car use to just coast after you take foot off throttle but now it makes this clunking downshift and slows down.
Any suggestions?
Did u do idle relearn?
I just cleaned my throttle body and the car stalls now. I unplugged the battery for 10 mins. And still the same, the car still stalls. It starts and stalls right away.
What should I do now?
People say it can relearn by itself. But how?
Do idle relearn and how did u clean the throttle did u jam open the theottle
@@RBTheMechanicHi. I did the cleaning as you teach us.
I found out that the air intake hose is broken. There was a big tear. Maybe because when I wanted to remove the hose, I tore it.
After that, I unplugged the battery for more than an hour while going to Honda service center to buy a new hose.
I installed the new hose and then plugged the battery.
And..... Viola !!! The car starts. I did the relearn process I got from youtube. And now the car is like new, except the valve cover gasket which leaks some oil. 😅

I have a 2015 Honda accord and it has hesitation at take off and the rpm goes up and down when I'm at a stop light. I've replace throttle body, catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, and there is no existing codes at this time.
Not sure but this could be problem due to transmission.
The next I’m going to try is replacing the fuel filter. The idle is all over the place.
@@lystonanderson526 there is no filter on this try cleaning throttle and do idle relearn
HeY RB, would you happen to know what normal ODBII readings are for fuel rail pressure is on this accord at idle? I'm getting something like 500kpa. Also I'm experiencing this same issue and I've replaced spark plugs, ignition coils, negative battery cable with the sensor, the MAF sensor, and air filter.
That seems high I believe it should be mid 330+- 390. 40-50psi
Sometimes my 2017 accord will start and then die immediately and then when I start it again it runs fine. Could this be the throttle body like in your video? I don’t have a check engine light either. Thank you!
It can be u can simple do this service even if it dosent fix it’s worth doing it but most likely it might be the issue
@@RBTheMechanic thank you for the quick response. I will try it and then update you here. Also you mentioned that after you clean the throttle body that you might get a check engine light and high RPMs? How would I fix that?
@@WavyFBaby yeah I didn’t get it on this generation of Honda’s that was experience I had on 2009 accord. But if it dose come you just have it reset it will fix it self as it will relearn its idle speed
@@RBTheMechanic sounds good. Thank you again for all of your help.
I got that same flashlight 😂 green with magnetic bottom and spins. I forgot so many of them under cars when I was a mechanic 😢
Yeah
I have ‘15 accord and code p0120 circuit A low. Will cleaning throttle fix this issue? Thanks
Prolly not but give it a shot
What is the relearn procedure on it
I have video on idle relearn here’s the link th-cam.com/video/7BqDatRz8WE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=sB0ts81_Qy21NAz4
Dont you have to go for the honda idle learn procedure method???
I have video on that type in search honda idle relearn rb the mechanic
I might be picking up an 9th gen accord v6 manual this weekend. It has an issue where if the car is idling with ac on, itll go into limp mode. The guy's tuner says it's cause the system thinks there's knock. Restarting the car gets rid of the issue. I know the manuals dont have vcm.. any experience with this issue?
Not sure what’s he’s talking about
Thanks you show that ! From Canada
my car won’t go past 10 mph and the rpms won’t go past 3 i have a 2015 honda accord with like 100k miles on it the car was running perfectly fine before until my check engine light came on and the car stopped going past 10 i checked every fuse in both fuse boxes i don’t really know what’s going on
Did u scan the car for codes
I have a 2014 Honda accord, it recently gave up on me, when I I put it in any gear (drive, reverse, sport) and I press the gas it only revs, could this be a fix for it or something major?
Sound like bad cvt transmission belt band maybe broke
Después de limpiar el throttle tengo los códigos P0123 y P0223. Que debo hacer para resolver eso?
Sorry idk spanish
Desconectar la bateria por 10 minutos dice.
My car hesitates when I turn the ignition switch. It failed to start the other day, I got it to start after a 2nd attempt. Could this be the issue?
Well that’s a tricky one could be battery starter igntion switch I would have to test it to tell u something more accurately
What’s the name of the tool to loosening the clamps?
Needle nose plyer
Have the 2013 version 4 cylinder and when ever is sit and idle for a while I'm park it stalls on me or right when I start it stalls. I've changed mass air flow and a new fuel pump and it stall again.
And it take a good 10 min before engine to start again any thoughts thanks
Scan for codes also try cleaning out the throttle that might help it
what if I press the gas and my car does not move. the engine does not even rev but the car is on and cracked. I put my Honda in reverse and it started to go than just stopped.
Car moved but engine didn’t reve? Can h make video I need to see this
Do you have a solution for the opposite? Meaning the car idling high when come to a red light stop.
Checked for vaccum leaks and see if u can do throttle relearn
Dirty maf sensor maybe
Good idea to use cloth rather than paper that would tear up and clog, and to spray on it rather than direct on carb. Thank you.
Ok thanks will keep that in mind
Hi! Thanks for help. What kind of cleaner you use for cleaning throttle?
Throttle cleaner
@@RBTheMechanic thank you
Any idea why my honda accord 2013 wont rev past 4000 rpm? Would it be related to the throttle body? Car is giving p0420 code low efficiency bank 1 catalytic converter
Well that catalytic converters code. Try cleaning the oxygen sensor but I have noticed for the safety of engine the electrical throttle body dosent let the engine go too high on rpm which is normal maybe ur trans I sent pulling like it suppose to if u feel that it got no power to speed up
@@RBTheMechanic okay, ill try that out. I thought it might be the throttle body but i was worried it was a vtech problem and ive heard if the cat is bad youll notice. Thanks for the reply and the videos theyre super helpful
My accord '15 sometimes feels like losing power (jerking) when accelerating slow. I changed the MAF sensor but still the same. Do you think it could be the throttle body issue?
Could be dirty throttle clean it
If I clean the plate that opens and closes inside the throttle body, is it okay? I heard if we do not do it correctly, we could make it even worse. Like probably changing the position of it? Is that true? Thank you
@@peedosalim2922 yes u can damage it usully I do slight amount to open it and go easy on it so it can turn slowely
If we clean the plate, we cannot move it at all by hand?
I mean. We should not move the position of the plate at all while cleaning it?

Yes this is expected to come on I had few cars that popped this code sooo u did good ur rpm went up because u cleaned it now it can breath better anyways. U can reset the light but it will come on again. Best thing is drive it for few days then reset the light it will relearn the idle speed. Or u can use scan to command it to relearn idle
How about the opposite high idle like 1400 and obd code p0507? Cleaned the and maf and still the same
Honda always pops that code after throttle cleaning u have to hook up scan tool and command it for idle relearn if u don’t have high end scan tool u can try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes let all the memory loose then drive for few days with all accessories off ac off lights off wipers radio all off so that way idle is good without load. Double check all of ur work
Hi, I have two questions: why not to remove throttle body and clean completely? When I cleaned mine using your way it was dirty deeper but fingers do not reach that far.
2. I still have low RPM around 560 but not all the time, about 30% of the time when on "D" and stopped on red light. The rest of the time holds 710-740rpms. When transmission is on "P" never had low rpm. I checked for codes and give me P0102 and P0340. I replaced one (there is two) camshaft position sensor but still getting low rpm. Last time when dash board lights up like Christmas tree I get same codes plus P0141. It's been two days only since I replaced the sensor so no check engine so far. I Also clean MAF and tried different one. So MAF is good. Unfortunately low RPM are still there once in a while not all the time. Any idea where to look for? (2013 Accord Coupe 2.4)
Well u can do complete removal and cleaning but chances are very high u will damage it u can hook up scan tool and do idle relearn on hondas
@@RBTheMechanic UPDTATE:
P0340 never show up after replacing camshaft position sensor. Once in a while I was getting P0102 and when I get it won't let my car to start. I had to keep holding the start button for a while or reset the codes. Everything become clear when car battery died for no reason(it was Optima yellow) and it last only 3 or 3.5 year. Now with new battery I do not get any code or any light on dashboard anymore. Seems like battery had some connection corroded inside and even for last start-up was cranking strong and then stop rapidly. When I check the votlage it was only 8V on it. Seems like it lost connection with one or more cells.
