@@AjusCafe I just finished. Still didn’t see water come spurting put into tray but Breville assured me it was correct. I did get dirty water and some grounds. I also used the cleaning cycle (I have a Barista Touch) but without the cleaning tablet.

Thanks so much for this video. I just replaced a Breville Infuser that I had for 4 years, but it developed some serious issues, replaced it with the Barista Express. I want to do everything possible to take care of it, I never thought of or even reading about back-flushing daily, but I started doing it today after seeing this video. It makes total sense.
ps - I love how thorough you are with your videos, love that you switched silicone discs , love that you ran several cycles, you answered questions I didn't even know I had!

my trick is to use espresso puck. It's amazing and make the machine clean as well. It produced amazing espresso too.

Do you think it's necessary to do a 'clean' cycle when the clean light flashes when one is already back-flushing with the Cafiza powder after every use? I've also been using a puck-screen (thanks to this channel!) so my shower-screen and machine in general is exceptionally clean. On another note, do you know if the 'clean/descale' light goes on based on a # of shots pulled or if there is an actual sensor, I'm strongly assuming it's just based on time and not an actual sensor, but wonder if you know? And lastly, do you think there is any difference in performance of back-flush cleaning between the Cafiza powder & Cafiza tablets?
Sorry not sure if i replied, but yes the machine has a set number of cycles and the clean or Descale flashes. Powder or tablet is good for clean cycle.
Wow...I was shocked that your machine had so many grinds when you did the flush but it looked clean prior to the flush cycle. Will start doing it with my machine.

Hi Quick qn, when you turn on your breville barista pro, does your machine eject water at the drip tray? Mine does and i am not sure if they are residual water from the backflush i did or is it part of the process of the machine clearing old water when the machine is first turned on.
Hi, its very normal to see around 1 TBS of water in drip tray. I can confim that its the same on Barista Express machine too. Its the excess water thats pumped out from the solenoid, as jt draws fresh water into the boiler
Hi, i read this somewhere from a blog in which someone said “I've had an email from a reader who has received a hole with a disk, which is a surprise as I'd not heard of them using these kinds of disks for a while. I spoke to Sage and they've informed me that this is to do with the firmware version on that particular machine. Some batches have been produced which a firmware version can detect higher pressure for prolonged periods, in which using a standard disk without a hole could cause issues, so if your machine does come with a disk with a hole, you'll need to use this disk, and just put a bowl under the portafilter. “
I am wondering if those machines with a black flush disc with hole in them are considered newer or older machines? hmmm
I was thinking older ones came with a hole in the disk, but all new BBE i tested came without a hole. But now this new BBPro came with a hole in the disk. So its nothing to do with new and old versions. I don't believe it'd affect any component in the mache due to high pressure, because they all come with 3 way solenoid and an OPV (Over Pressure Valve) that will bypass excess water.

I had the drip tray in an did a flush and the water came out from the bottom. Do you know what I may have done wrong? This is a new machine, I’ve only had it for about a month.
Backflush would bring water down into drip tray. There is an outlet just about drip tray on the machine, somewhere in the middle you will find a white plastic outlet. That's normal during Backflush and even during extraction of Espresso
@@AjusCafe yes, I know that sorry I wasn’t clear but it came out from the very bottom of the machine it did not go into the drip tray. It leaked all over the counter.
@@cidneericapa4785 that is not normal. Since it it new, you need to call Breville support. They will fix it for you. Also ensure water tank is installed properly if not it can leak.

I need you in my life!! I am at my whits end. Currently the water does not stay in the tank it is defaulting to flow on through the drip tray until there isn’t any water remaining in the tank. Nothing is wrong with the seal.
The only time it isn’t going ham into the drip tray, is if I am using the steam wand (no steam just water), or the hot water spigot (not hot, just water). the wand or the spigot (for hot water). For testing, I tried to pull a double shot the pre infusion doesn’t work… it just pours on through as light brown water…
9:28 - this sound is constant when not in use and simply plugged in. One evening it just started we weren’t even using the machine!!!!
Breville isn’t answering or calling me back (in a what seems like a 1000 que) and the shop I purchased says I need to call Breville. The thing only 4 months old. Hubs cleans / descales it on the reg. So maybe you can direct me where to find the answer.
I haven’t ONE video where water doesn’t stay in the tank and the machine constantly makes a noise as if the pump is working overtime when it isn’t even at work!!!

Coffee oils and grinds buildup on Grouphead and backflush components and affects water flow etc
Hi @aju’s Cafe, I bought the cleaning disc without the hole and tried the second method in your video. I am facing a strange problem. When i press the single shot button to start the backflush, I was not able to stop the machine at the 20 sec mark despite pressing the single shot button( auto stopped around 25 sec)This happened for the second attempt. Only in my third attempt was I able to to stop it at the 20 sec mark.
Does this happen to you or anyone else??😮
If you are in "clean" mode, you may not be able to stop. But when u press single or double button, you should be able to press any time to stop
