And when I was transferred to Kolkata in 2020...the first long weekend I spent was in Darjeeling for the first time in my life... The place is magical...and with an uninterrupted view of Mt Kanchenjengha in the Autum of 2020, I couldnt have asked more...

Thank you BBC. This is just not a documentary about DHR, like it says “Romance of the Bygone age and the steam represents the spirit of Darj” A place one cannot stop to fall in love with. A place defined by its people and their affection. With every single whistle blown by the DHR, it reminds of the legacy it carries and the belongingness of the people of Darj. Its just not a hill station, the place is just EMOTION❤️❤️
Lots of thanks to this channel for showing the documentary of our naturally beautiful and amazing place DARJEELING we are still proud to be a Ghorkha people of DARJEELING. ..and we will remain the same till the end of this world. ....I am so blessed and remained joyful as having watched this videos about the stories of our DARJEELING peoples. ..we are sooooo proud to be a DARJEELING peoples because although we are not rich economically but we are rich from our heart throughout the world. .... so that we want all the peoples from DARJEELING to every peoples of this world. ...
“People say you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone", I watched the video today, didn't realise our Darjeeling is so beautiful and rich, I felt so sorry for our Toy train, I wish I could do something to preserve it as the world heritage, although I'm quiet far away from home, this documentary made me feel like home. Thanks to BBC for this video.
It's 4.5 hrs long journey from Kurseong railway station to Darjeeling Railway station its a beautiful, mindbogling journey through the hills. Millions of tourists are coming just for one ride but a interesting fact is that there are so many of people staying in Darjeeling has never step a feet on one of the magnificent creation's in the world. #TAKE A RIDE#
A nice documentary by BBC. I visited the place for 6 times each time staying for a significant period.Truly a beautiful place with beautiful nepali people. They look so natural to the place.
it was beautiful and touching.... my own experience since my mother's family came from Darj , very simple, generous people. The documentary showed all.
Darjeeling, kanchandzonga and our toy train has been always been in our memory .let all who love them pray that it is not exploited by any ........... for their personal gains. khemraj gurung.
@Skoda130, of course ! all the documentaries are based on reality (as per my knowledge) and commonly people keeps faith in it. So, one must rectify it's statements if it's against the national issue of some country.
@partha Kumar - It happens when madhu completed his college and couldn't find any job so he suffered from depression and he started eating less food and it's effects tuberculosis then he died .
Dear narrator, let me tell you please that the Buddha was born in Nepal- Lumbini not in India as you narrate here in your documentary. Please it's an issue of self respect to our identity and pride, so correct it.
Zuja, let me enlighten you about the fact that it was not India but Nepal who stole Darjeeling for a while...& as far as returning Darjeeling back to Nepal is concerned it makes no logic because Darjeeling was a part of Sikkim.
The narrator said buddha gained his enlightment in india but born in nepal its the fact ive studied in india and i studied that budhha was born in india but now the sylllabus of secondary education has changed and now its buddha was born in nepal and he gained his enlightment in india bihar

The History is distorted. Darjeeling was never a place for the Nepalese speaking Gorkhas. Original inhabitants were Lepchas & Bhotias. Nepalese were mere migrants who proliferated like anything and because of this number-dominated cursed democracy, they are claiming Darjeeling as Gorkhalands. Darjeeling was a sleepy village till 1835 when British annexed it with India because of the persistent trouble of Gorkha aggression by the wretched Gorkha rulers of Nepal who were taught a good lesson in 1817 by the British General Octerlony. So Darjeeling was annexed and designed to be the 'Queen of the Hills' by the British, Bengali engineers and architects executed the plans, Tea-Timber-Coal-Orchard industry was developed by British & Bengali entrepreneurs, and the Nepalese workers swarmed in to seek a job. Now these Servants are claiming the Masters' House as theirs!
Siliguri had almost zero Bengali population just around independence. Massive Migration from Bangladesh ( East Pakistan civil war )and later Assam resulted in Bengali settlement near the Highways ( khalpada, AshramPada, Haiderpada, Matigara, shivmandir etc) . Immigrant people always settle around the main highways this is the testament. But Southern Bengalis look down upon Siliguri people as backward, uncivilized and unpolished and Siliguri/Jalpai Bengalis have as a result have identity crisis. Massive Bengali Migration has already destroyed the orginal inhabitants of State like Tripura. Assam is struggling with new Bangla migrants from Bangladesh even after chasing lakhs of migrants to Jalpaiguri and Siliguri. Had Gorkhaland been rightfully given to the patriotic and humble, brave Gorkhas, Siliguri and Darjeeling region would have been safe and prosperous. Now the New wave of Bihari migration is Destroying Siliguri and Darjeeling. Places like Champasari, Gurung Busty, Tilak Maidan ( kanchanjunga stadium), Sevoke are the orginal Native names but now these places are demographically changed with people from Bihar and Bangladesh.

@@samiersamier8889 How did it happen???
@partha Kumar - It happens when madhu completed his college and couldn't find any job so he suffered from depression and he started eating less food and it's effects tuberculosis then he died .
Do you mean that your self respect relies on what the narrator says?
It's more about "Darjeeling"
One mistake he made was he said Budha was born in India. seriously you didnt know and He was born in Nepal.
in last I am wearing yellow jacket
It's Mr.LAMA not MALA as narrated.
but i think Malla also are gurkhali? correct me if im wrong

darjeeling should be make as a district of NEPAL....jay nepal.
And Nepal should be made a state of India.

They were probably speaking to a Dhoti, the interview-er.

indian should return back Darjeeling to himalayan kingdom NEPAL.
they stole it from Nepal.
And Nepal 'stole' it from Sikkim if we're going to get technical about it.
In ur dreams
darjeeling people dont want to join nepal theyre happy indians
