There was some reference to this (slavery in building the railway) at the beginning of the documentary, though the slavery was not quite highlighted. The British didn't build this railway for the love of our people. They built it to loot the country. However we have benefited by it, though not by design. Anyway, hats off the the maker of this video for highlighting the beauty of our country and to some extent the capabilities of our people.

The token way may seem old fashioned but it's very effective... Sri Lanka a beautiful place to be...
kind-hearted, and generous people.A lot of love and prayers for the Sirilankns
I visited srilanka this year just before the global lockdown due to pandemic. And Srilanka is a beautiful country. Citizens are hardworking, aware and good. I love the beauty of Srilanka so much. I wish I were there after my retirement.
Sri Lanka is such a beautiful island. I am glad that the civil war has ended in 2009, and now this island nation can live in a democratic peaceful life. Let this wonderful nation thrive.
I wanna go
Sadly Democracy was over in 2019. Now Sri Lankan people are suffering again from the dictatorship of rajapaksa regime.

I was Sri Lankan born and with my parents emigrated to Australia long time ago. I have been there 3 times and I still love my motherland and its gentle people and the beautiful scenery.God bless the people and the country and all politicians in SL take responsibility so that you all Sri Lankan’s can benefit not just the previled upper class.
I too was born in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and left with my family 60 years ago for England. It was absolutely despicable what the previous president and government did to their own people! Unbelievably forgivable!!!!
I don’t understand your “previled” comment.🙂
Even unbelievably “unforgivable”.
@@jeannedeutrom8373 Joanne I take it that you have been to Sri Lanka it still is a paradise to enjoy everything it has to offer these friendly warm welcoming people especially in the villages, They themselves have very little if at all anything to share that is what makes these people so humble and welcoming of any help that we may offer them and their families in times of need …

A beautiful country of wonderful landscape mountains amazing water falls .indeed a very clean island beautiful beaches. just return home after a week of holiday in this beautiful island. many waterfalls which is made easier access for mankind to explore and enjoy the wonderful bath at the falls. well kept, clean.and amazing people. India Indonesia and many 3rd world countries need to learn from Sri Lanka in keeping public places clean. not even Malaysia is as clean as Sri Lanka..just not happy with the food from hotel and restaurant, maybe they can do better in this sector. other than that it's beautiful and amazing place to visit .in case you're travelling to this island don't forget to pack up some packets drink and biscuits our guide was wonderful person. very knowledgeable and speak good English..thanks Sri Lanka a wonderful island. 😘.

Hope your visit ! Welcome to our country🙏
How was your trip...
Hope you saw every nook and cranny in the island and the stuff thats under the surface
We had a month traveling around Sri Lanka by train and bus, it's a beautiful country. The hill country is stunning. I even found Jaffna a very interesting, educational city. Whenever I watch this video , which happens to be quite a few times I really want to revisit the Tear Drop of India.
WHERE ARE YOU FROM SIR MAY I ASK?
Everything was looking good until you said "Pearl of INDIA"??
Its Pearl of Southeast Asia
Not `Pearl of India' but 'PEARL OF THE INDIAN OCEAN'...
You must mean, "Pearl of the Indian Ocean."
Really loved this documentary, I like Sri Lankan people, very warm and friendly.
I can't stop watching these amazing documentaries. Im binging my way to an intervention. Thank you for all the quality entertainment.
Yes. That moment when you're watching a documentary about your own country. 🇱🇰
Man, this place is so good, i might plan to go their next year, they're really sweet people. Train journeys are the best, cheap and the most picturesque. 🇱🇰❤🇮🇳

@Dust storm C0Ming im sure...you are not a sri lanka🤔

@Dust storm C0Ming Mind your own business Indian. We Srilankan love and respect China and Chinese people. And thank you china we remember, we remember who help us in our darkest time. As a Sri Lankan, we're grateful. I saw lots of respectful grate Indians in this comment section. But Indians like you give a bad name to India.

Thanks for documentary, I visited Sri Lanka after I saw ur documentary. I felt really joyful in Lanka. However certain areas like Muslim areas in Lanka city is really suffocating and feels uncomfortable.
RABBIT POCKET ya i agree as sri lankan we really worried they over populated soon the local buddhist culture its alrady happening
desert only sand
Dear.. I heared that sayid people are satisfied there economic situation.... But as a Sri Lankan I know it is not. Peoples had a good economic situation under rajapaksha's govenment than now. You are totally wrong...
But I enjoyed with this documentary...
Wow, amazing!from now on l will buy Cylon tea!l never thought Sri Lanka was this beautifully amazing!love from the Philippines!
Please visit.. will make you happy..

But i don't like indians ...lol...
A A hey listen I know im one year late but during the civil war I lived here.there was a time in which parents didn't leave the house together becoz they didn’t know when LTT will throw the next bomb.they even tried bombing Buddhist schl with thousands of innocent students.just don't talk about things you don't know.
@@AA-jj8bg Be it Sinhala,Tamil,Muslim or other ethnic group, any armed gang who will go against the state killing innocents will be dealt by the Government. Because all the Sri Lankans want to live in peace and harmony.
Any religion, ethnic group or extremist crowd or people espousing hate ,violence & murder against others have their leaders to be blamed. Much of atrocities and genocides committed are the result of their leaders malicious design & thinking . Therefore choose your leaders -President,Prime Minister ,Imam,Guru,Chairman,King or Pope wisely ! Aggressive, arrogant and cruel leaders and rulers needed to have their heads chopped off by and for the good of the people like what France did to their capricious rulers centuries ago !
its so beautiful , never imagined Sri Lanka is so amazing , I hope they still maintain the beauty of their railway network. I t feels like my next trip is to Sri Lanka
No open sewage, no litters, no garbage dumps, train's on time, clean roads, no overcramping passengers in train cabins ...truly amazed 😍
