Did anyone else get "The Flintstones" vibes off of this coffee table? It is completely adorable.
Haha! I didn't until you mentioned it but yeah, I agree.
Yes! But I was thinking more like Swiss cheese or sponge vibes. 😂 It’s not my cuppa but it was cool watching the process.
Me too! I can see it in Wilma’s living room!
That was my exact thought! Fred and Wilma would love this!!
You say you can’t draw and envy artists who can- as an artist who draws, I can honestly say that I envy your sculpting abilities to see something in a block of wood and create a work of art such as this. Your coffee table is humble and earthy, yet futuristic and spacey- like a meteor that fell to earth and made its way to your home. There is flow and movement, yet strength and stability. It keeps the eye moving to take it all in. It’s absolutely brilliant! And I envy your artistic vision and skills to see it through. You are magnificent!
You said exactly what I was thinking, it is a definite piece of art. I love a creative imagination, I think this is brilliant! It looks wonderful considering the wood that it came from and the process .I think Jay is a n awesome furniture artist😅😊❤
🥰🥰🥰💛💛💛
Ha ha thank you 🙏 that’s very kind
Agreed!! Well said.👏🤩
Omg this comment is so nice!
Before anyone freaks out, in some places rail road ties are not soaked in tar, creosote, oil or whatever that black asphalt smelling stuff is
These are called garden sleepers here in 🇬🇧 and are used for gardens but Amarican viewers seem to be confused when I call them that … 🤷♂️
They’re sold at garden centers here in US. I used them to border my flowers at my last house. I think the confusion is that some people imagine you going to the train tracks and using a sledgehammer and pick to grab them. Remember- we’re not too far removed from the days of the Old West over here. 😆👍💖
In some of the gardening shops in America they do sell them just for use in landscaping.
@@FlippingdrawersSpecial Request Challenge: During the next 3-6 months "find in the trash" 4-5 pieces of broken junk furniture. Disassemble the furniture to make ONE elegant reproduction of any type of furniture chair, table, cabinet of your choice. The key word being: Elegant. Are you up for this challenge?
@Flippingdrawers that type of lumber is also called landscaping timber by some in the USA. One clue is the slightly green hue, which suggests that it is a treated lumber. The chemical used to treat it may be one reason your glue wasn't setting properly. Another clue is, you mentioned it seemed damp on the outside. Treated lumber can feel that way because it often is. Depending on the chemical, breathing the sawdust is not recommended. The sawdust may also be corrosive to the cutting blades on your power tools.
I was expecting a sort of hobbit type table but nothing like you created. You have so much talent Jay and it doesn’t matter that you can’t draw because the drawing is actually in your head which in turn you translate into and onto the wood. Brilliant!
That’s very kind of you thank you 🙏
Four words.. Flipping AWESOME!
🥰🥰🥰
So different. The lacquer thinner finished it beautifully. So impressive
I can't say I like it, exactly, but I can appreciate the amount of work that went into it!
This project reminds me of my own experience in school. My concentration was furniture design and because I have low vision but a lot of hard work ethic my wonderful professor was totally ok with me carving organic shapes instead of doing projects that took precise measurements. I actually love to watch long detailed carving videos.👍
Very interesting. Not my style but very cool nonetheless. Keep up the good work.
I appreciate that!
This reminds me of a children’s book. The pile of unwanted lumber that grew up to be a work of art. Thanks for the video.
Not everyone's cup of tea, but I like the creative spirit behind it. Nicely done. :)
Whereas I'm not fond of the asteroid design, I am very fond of your unexplored talent and creativity! Thanks again for inspiring and entertaining me!
Well, it is unique and you worked on it for over 2000 years. I am happy you were able to create your vision. That is quite an accomplishment!
Thank you ☺️
i'm so excited for you to have sponsorship!
Great job, Jay! All it needs is a couple of cats tucked up in those pockets!!!
Wow! That is probably the most ambitious project I've seen you take on! It was definitely a journey, to be sure. I didn't expect that quality of original wood to "clean up" as nicely as it did, but you produced a lovely finish! Well done, sir!
Thank you ☺️
This reminds me of a piece of furniture that could have been in Fred and Wilma Flintstone's home. That is in no way a criticism. The piece just looks solid and enduring, as if carved from a piece of granite. I look forward to watching your carving skills grow.
Definitely a brutalist vibe going on with the table. Super creative work, as always. You are so much more patient than I could ever be!
Your table is not quite my style, but I laud your creativity and courage (and tenacity) to make it!
Wow, so much work went into this piece. You definitely can't tell it was made from a pile of cheap wood! Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
It ended up looking 100 times better than through most of it. Lol, no question in that you’re very creative. Well done.
I love when you say “I’m basically an expert” lol
😂
Your Orbital Table is Magnificent; you created a beautiful design and the colors, came out gorgeous.🫶🏾
Thank you so much 🤗
Boy oh boy Jay, you really out did yourself this time! What an amazing transformation from the pike of wood you started with. I have to say I am completely blown away by this gorgeous stunning project. You know I always say you can do anything watching TH-cam 😂! By all means id say you're definitely a pro for sure. This is my most favorite piece so far. What an absolutely awesome job! Cheers to you my friend! You can do anything a true masterpiece! 😊❤
This really means a lot given this video will likely not get many views as it’s not a restoration. Thank you 🙏
I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't watching this fantastic video! After all your amazing talents far exceed just furniture refinishing. There was a lot of time and hours of hard work went into creating this gorgeous unique piece! I'd love to see more of this to. It's fantastic to see the other skills you have! Amazing job Jay you should pay yourself on the back. Bet David an Daisy are jealous 😊
@@pamsheets632 🥰💛
I wasn’t sure when you were describing what you were going to make, but then you made such a lovely table. 😊
"I watched a few TH-cam videos, so I'm basically an expert" Famous last words lol. This is absolutly epic!
Thank you ☺️
Respect! This required tenacity and passion for your craft. I was missing the meme of “2000 years later” during the sanding process😂😂😂. Don’t sell yourself short. You have a natural talent many wish they had. Your addition to your home looks lovely!
Wow, I can't believe my eyes, all that sanding. What a fabulous out come though Jay! Again top knotch work!
Wow, thanks!
It's always a pleasure watching such artistry 🤍🤍🤍😁😁😁🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😇😇😇🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🐈🐈🐈👏👏👏
the black ended up being so cool! really neat way of combining modern style with more organic shapes.
No way anyone could have guessed what you were up to. Turned out like nothing I've seen before. looks like an ancient futuristic artifact that came from outer space. well done.
Thank you 🙏 and happy new year
This is so weird and cool looking. I absolutely was expecting a shabby chic basic coffee table from that pile of wood. Amazing transformation!
Ha ha thank you
🤣🤣🤣🤣 expert after watching TH-cam....aren't we all??? 👏👏👏👏
Incredible work Jay!!
Thanks 🤩
WOW ! This project is amazing and I didn't expect your end results. You hit the mark with organic !!
Thank you 🙏
Interesting piece. Not my cup of tea, but I am impressed with your willingness to stretch your creative talents. I heard it described as a meteor. It does have an alien vibe to it.
It makes me think you picked up a fallen meteorite. Tons and tons of work, but it suits your style.
I was thinking that there was a part two coming up 😂
Wow! Way to stick with it! I think it turned out very cool. Definitely one of a kind. Someone will probably pay a fortune for it long after you are gone! 😂😂😂
lol thanks ☺️ I’m keeping it for now
How cool! I adore how you have concerns and trepidation about trying new things, but DO it anyway. So inspiring. 💙 from Colorado
Lovely work you beautiful person! 😀
Thank you 🙏
It is SO INTERESTING , wow, amazing
Thank you 🙏
I've been using Jackery generators for two years, due to power outages, and their units are amazing. And by no means the most expensive brand on the market.
True, I have one from EcoFlow as well but Jackery I great and very competitive with prices and features.
Wow! Looks like it was carved from the base of a very large tree. I don’t care what the cats say, you do good work. 😊
Thank you! 😊
Looks like a meteorite that fell from heaven. Beautiful.
You sir seem like a man of integrity and I for one appreciate that…a whole lot. Thank you🌹
Wow what a fantastic creation. Well done you took a lot of lumber and made something unique ,one of a kind.
In a strange way, I really like this table. It is a conversation piece.
While I wouldn't call this a coffe table, i would call it a wood work of art. I think it's cool. I like that you're willing to experiment with tools and techniques. To expand your skill set. Well done Sir 👏
Thank you so much 😊
I could see this in a Hobbit Home. 😀 I appreciate the way the walnut stain elevated the look of the wood, very pretty finish.
I loved this! I honestly didn’t expect this at all from the thumbnail. I could watch you for hours! I love everything you do!!
Thank you 🙏
It was fun watching you do something from scratch like this 😊
Cool, thank you 🙏
I don't know why people don't like torch, I think it's a great technique
I do too 😉
@@Flippingdrawers also, this project was astonishing, for a first time trying something like that it was really cool !
Greetings from France
Well done. I’m happy to see you branch out to create original furniture designs. This table is a definite conversation piece, and you clearly learned a lot in the process of bringing your idea to life. I look forward to seeing you continue to develop your wonderful originality.
Thank you very much!
What an interesting piece of furniture. You did an amazing job making it look awesome. Thanks for sharing this piece with us. Have a very blessed day.❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love it! The vacuum cowering in the corner, though! I had to laugh!
Wildly creative and ambitious, but you succeeded. A truly amazing job.
Definitely unique....I like it!
Fascinating process. Confess the outcome is not my cup of tea but process is interesting. You are very creative. Look forward to more.
I love it.
I'd be putting succulents in the cubby's.
That’s a cool idea
😂 your dry humor is hilarious
I always like the weird stuff. Hard work weird is the best!
Awesome 🤩
I think it’s great that you do things that express your creativity. You table is an art piece that is also useful. Well done.
I kept thinking, “OMG, someone has to clean up that workshop!” 🤣🤣🤣. I’m too practical I guess and I hate to clean so I am impressed you took on a project like no other AND dealt with the cleaning aftermath. For my part, the finished coffee table reminds me of one of my favorite original Star Treks where there are rock creatures which are sick and Bones says, “Dammit Jim, I’m a doctor, not a stone mason…”. 🤣🤣🤣🤦♀️🤷♀️. For that reason alone, I’d be happy to have that piece in front of my couch! Cheers Jay.
lol thank you ☺️
Hortas!! Yes, it really does look like a Horta. How cool!
Wow! What a transformation. I truly laughed out loud though when you make the comment about watching a few you tube videos and now you are an expert on using a chain saw. 🤣🤣🤣
Glad you enjoyed it!
Jay, I was waiting for the secret drawer that this piece is crying out for😊. Very enjoyable creative journey. Thanks for another great video!
Your projects are never boring
🥰🧡
I love your creativity and boldness with trying new stuff. Also, seeing how pros like you have to spend so much time on sanding... it lifts up my spirit, I thought I'm the only one spending days on it😅
Thank you so much!
Very interesting Jay. I never would have thought of something like that out of that pile of wood!!!
Thanks 👍
Definitely organic and wild!
From flipper to artiste! Bravo!
🥰💛
Your introduction had me howling
All the time!
Sometimes I attempt things because no one suggested it might be difficult
Then there I am in the middle of it!!
lol thanks for watching
For a guy who says he can't draw to save his life, you certainly manage to create art nevertheless.
Thank you 🤩
The final result was very organic and feminine!
That’s something I don’t hear often lol. Normally people complain I make masculine looking things 😂. Thank you 🙏
watching you create this piece helped me appreciate why these types of things are so expensive. It looks really nice.
Thank you ☺️
Wow!!! That a big jump from you normally do. Great work.
Thank you 🙏
You could have painted that sucker gray and called it a moon rock!! That's very cool!!
When I was working in Boston in a professional woodworking shop we had to do glueups in cold weather. To make the glue setup we placed the wood on sawhorses and tented the project w plastic and packing blankets. Then we set up clip lights under the sawhorses for the night. This keeps the project warm and helps the drying process. The next day it should be dry. I hope this helps you. I love your videos thank you for sharing them.😊❤
Interesting…. Thanks for sharing 👍
Never doubt yourself. You are AMAZING.
Thank you 🤩
Oh Jay it's stunning. Love how practical it is with all those alcoves. So much storage. It's a functional work of art. Thank you for sharing. Well I did not see that coming from the community post and that's for sure. Brilliant.
Thanks ☺️ . Much appreciated. TH-cam is not liking this video because it’s not a restoration 🙄
You are always trying new things and pushing yourself to learn new skills. It makes your channel more interesting and unpredictable. Do your neighbors ever complain about noise when you do these kinds of projects?
Thank you and no, never.
OMG Sir. This is f'n amazing job. I am always in awe of what you create. Thank you for all the wonderful videos. God bless.
Thank you very much!
Good job mister beautifully done
Thanks ☺️
Получился замечательный,неповторимый,единственный в своем роде кофейный столик.Мне очень понравился.Спасибо за классное видео.❤❤❤
Now that's a statement for any home. Love it Jay.
Thank you 🤩
Well done!! Admire your commitment and endurance! You deserve a medal for it! 😂
Thank you! 😃
Wow! That looks so expensive and high end! If I hadn’t seen this video and was shown the end result I’d have assumed that it was made with very expensive materials.
Thank you 🤩
Bravo, my friend. Not at all what I thought I was going to be watching. But what a remarkable creation. I do ok with straight lines and right angles but I couldn't even approach something like this. It's so unique and creative. Thanks for sharing your talent!
Thank you for watching 💛💛🙏
Quite a transformation! Well done!
Jay has gone full lumberjack on us with that chainsaw. Cannot wait to see him build a whole house.
Coming up 😂
Hi Jay, that has to be the most unusual coffee table I've ever or will ever see in my life, while you were making it all I could think about was "the flintstones", I hope you enjoy using it and seeing it every day, a unique piece of furniture/art, cheers!!
Thanks. I love it
I Love Your Enthusiasm for this Project! Very Organic. It has an Insect-ish Quality. I remember you liked Bees. Maybe a little Old School Planet of the Apes! Fun!
Thanks ☺️ someone just suggested putting succulents in those pockets
Wonderful !! Just Wonderful !!
Thank you 🙏
What a brave, creative, and determined individual you are to pursue your vision
Ha ha definitely determined 😂 thank you 🙏
It really looks very extraordinay. Very creative. I like the combination of black and walnut
Thanks ☺️
That that piece of furniture would look great in a mid modern home.
Oh you poor man... God bless your diligence for perfection. ❤
Cooooooolllll!!!!!!!
It’s very artistic and whimsical!
I hope your back has recovered. Great Job 🎉
Yes! Thank you!
I loved it! Definitely something to be proud of.
