@@shinychu Honestly man for me personally its not just cause of Haikyuu, I watched it and got curious to watch real volleyball and see how accurate Haikyuu is (noticed a few flaws but over all pretty damn accurate) so thats basically how I started liking volley, the same thing could perhaps apply to other people aswell
I just got rejected from my volleyball team tryouts and instead of giving up on the sport that I love so much, I decided to perservere and get better so that I become a better and more stronger athelete.
That’s an amazingly calibrated volleyball athlete! I love playing beach volleyball, but I would be chasing that ball all over the place during those drills!🤣 if I could achieve 20% of her ball control my game would be twice is good!!!

Aiming to some particular mark at the wall? No rotation on the ball? Shoulders square to a wall at the moment of contact with the ball? Any other points? Reason I’m asking because without more concrete targeting, I always end up in a mess with that seemingly simple exercise.. Would be great to hear an opinion from true Professional! Hi Ilya, That's a really good question! Honestly, the only thing I am focusing on when passing against the wall is my technique. Notice that my body weight is forward, my shoulders are relaxed, and I am creating momentum by rocking my body, NOT by using my arms. A lot of people tend to stand up too straight when they pass and they push the ball by swinging their arms. That is usually what causes a lack of control. Try the points that I outlined above and let me know how it goes!
@Ivan Zaytsev yes for sure. Usually, there is one foot slightly in front of the other so that it is easy to take a step. If the feet are parallel, or side by side, it is definitely more difficult to react or to take a quick step.
Are there any drills that I can do without a wall? I’m trying out next month after a year without volleyball and I’m really stressing out because I don’t have anybody to play with, a wall, or a gym.
I was in the volleyball team in elementary. But the team was really poor and we wouldn't budge to get the ball. I was really good at underhand serves and bumping though. And then I watched Haikyuu, and the inspiration I got to play volleyball just can't be described. I am hoping to get into the volleyball team in Grade 9.

When you are playing, absolutely use 2 arms whenever you can. I wouldn't get into the habit of hitting the ball with one arm but it's great for ball control practice and for creating a solid platform.
I don't think you have to warm up much, if at all. These are pretty straight-forward. I would aim for at least 20 reps each, and see how many you can do in a row.

You know..... as a Libero and sometimes setter who tore their bicep and wants to get back into volleyball, this just makes me want to do it more.
