Not for me. Constant problems like booting staying at 100% while on the side it gives a cryptic 'aborted'.

thanks for the tutorial. And for the activation code I just asked chat gpt a specific prompt and it worked. I do believe the area after OEM does need to be a multiple of 7 but here the prompt is: "Generate me 30 sets of strings in the form of "xxxyy-OEM-NNNNNNN-zzzzz" where "xxx" is day of the year between 001 and 366 (for example, 192 = 10th of July) and "yy" is the year (for example, 94 = 1994). Your range is from the first day of 1995 to the last day of 2003. "OEM" must remain intact. The "NNNNNNN" segment consists of digits and must start with 2 zeroes. The rest of the numbers can be anything as long as their sum is divisible by 7 with no remainder. The last segment "zzzzz" should consist of random numbers, "z" representing a number."

I spent the better part of a day trying to get VirtualBox to run Windows 95, and this video had the only instructions that worked! Now I've got _SimCity 2000_ running on my Windows 10 laptop!

It’s would probably just be easier to ditch VirtualBox and use PCem for this purpose. In PCem the game won’t run too fast, plus you can select a sound card that actually works, like the Sound Blaster 16.

I had constant issues and errors trying to get 256 colours to work in windows 95, check that you're getting the exact driver shown in the video (you might need to click show all devices).
I also worked out that virtualbox 7 assigns 40MB of video RAM as a minimum, if you go into VM settings and reduce this to 14MB it works fine.
I don't know if doing this helped me avoid your same or similar issues, I just know that I did as you said, had to do 4 restarts because Windows didn't boot, but it now works flawless. I'll assume I would've run into issues and thank you, kind stranger.
Edit: just noticed that I skipped the part where I had to select "Plug and play", it was probably that which caused the black screens. Whoops.
VirtualBox absolutely SUCKS with colour support. If you want 256 colour, use a different VM suite, because VirtualBox WILL be a huge pain and won't work.

This video was a life saver, thanks for the step by step step by steps, they helped me do the install step by step.
I saw that starting Setup normally didn't work, as ScanDisk would say that "The size of the C: file is being misreported."
What I did to fix it was running Setup with the /is switch, which skips ScanDisk and lets the setup progress. I successfully installed 95 even with this, so even if you don't have to, run:
setup /is

You should actually mention how to create extra drives and how to install games to them , I usually create .vhd drives , close the program , go into Windows Explorer , right click " This PC " , navigate to Manage / Disk Management and attach the .vhd drives and copy whatever I want to the drive from my Windows Downloads folder or whatever else I want , like music ...etc . Great tutorial , I don't remember you mentioning how to release the mouse .
Here's the problem: When I try to put in the ISO, for some reason, the D: drive doesn't exist in the VM.

For better windows 95 experience, I use either PCEm or 86-Box emulators. The protection error is one reason why I would not recommend running Windows 95 on VirtualBox or VMWare.

I followed the tutorial but I forgot to eject the floppy and install FIX95 and it worked fine
EDIT: Without FIX95, it plays the startup and shutdown sounds
I downloaded the files, but they're not in the format that the virtual machine wants. The files are both 7z files instead.
Edit: My bad, I had to get the 7zip installed to unzip them. Once I had that, everything went well. Thank you so much for your video! Hope to play some old games soon!!
Starting Windows 95 doesn’t work for me. For some unexplainable reason , when i finished the last setup part ( after canceling the printer wizard ), Virtualbox restarts the virtual machine like normal , but it restarts TO THE BEGINNING! So i tried to do it again , and it does the same thing.
Please help!

This is cool. I want to use the machine to play Simcity. Unfortunately, after I load the FIX iso file and reboot, nothing happens, and I just go back to the screen asking me to load the CD ROM driver

Hi there! I have two questions.
1. A screen which reads "System Error [break] Cannot read from Drive A [break] cancel/retry" keeps coming up once I'm in the graphic portion of the setup, and I'm not sure at which stage this solution should occur. I'm unable to proceed past timestamp 13:00. 2. I am attempting to run a physical disk that requires WIN95. Where and how should that be uploaded? Would I be best off copying files onto a flash drive and uploading it as a disk, just as you showed with disk.01? Thank you for any help!

Made it to 5:30. The floppy disk file isn't showing up. I downloaded it an extra couple of times for good measure. It's in my downloads folder, but not when I need it for the storage tab. Why does none of this ever work? I just wanted to play an old Windows 95 demo disk. Why does every tutorial work for everyone but not me? It's uncanny.

I didn't get an IMG at all
I instead got a 7zip file. Converting the Zip to an IMG corrupted the storage files.

Managed to get the boot disk, but the iso is fucked
you have to extract it with 7zip
i didn't even need the cpu fix omg it worked!!! sad that 98 doesn't work for me :(( always illegal operation lol
@8:03 At this point the video is wrong. If you have your WIN 95 ISO mounted, then you type CD D:
Once you have moved to D:...type: setup.exe and hit enter
It will begin the install. No reason to have to copy the CD over.
It did NOT change to 256 colours. Another driver should be used! 🙂

Hi Epan. I am having a major issue with install of Win95. I have followed your directions iniitally with Virtualbox 7.x. All the steps work until I run c:\win95\setup. Scandisk runs to check status of the drive. I keep getting errors that the size of c:\Win95 file is being misreported. I select Fix It but then I keep getting errors. The process never successfully completes the Scandisk process. I even tried this on the same Virtualbox version you used in the video. Still same issue.
Do you have any recommendations?
Anyone who runs across my issue, the solution is to run setup with the /IS option.

If you set the processor to one then, it will not require the fix95 iso

I don't know if anybody else is having this issue, but I am unable to use the mouse. whenever I go to capture the mouse during setup, then my cursor is moves to the corner of my screen and can't go in the window of the actual virtual machine. If I try to, then it's teleported again.

at the part to 14:15 where you mount a FIX95CPU iso image is what I did. I replaced the disk01.iso image with FIX95CPU, i connected the cdrom to the vm while on the protection error screen then restart but instead it just boot right into windows 95 with the boot options I selected normal and pressed enter and the protection error screen popped up.
