Tony. I just wanna tell you I think you're really talented and I really appreciate what you post on here. I recently just got finished with a lot of bodywork and metal work on my 1987 Toyota pickup. I bought some really cheap primer as I'm going to sell the truck and I did not care at the time what it looked like. I'm new to painting and I had no idea that it was going to be as bad as it was. It was Duplicolor did you get from autozone the paint shop series it closed my guard up before I can get done spraying one side of the truck and then it started splattering needless to say I had this and all that back down. Anyway I bought a pretty good grade primer that a friend of mine suggested from a local pet shop called Copart . Its spread of my gun just fine no problems or issues laying it down however it's a very hard to build a very rough surface 10,001+ sanding it down with 220 grit before I spray any base coat on to it but I want to make sure the paint is a smooth finish is that grit high enough? Also is there anything that I should really worry about that I might not think about as I'm laying my base coat down i appreciate in advance for your response thank you
Thanks man! No you want to paint over a 400-600 grit paper. There are a lot of things to consider. You should check out our vip area man! Good luck ok!
What about fiber glass? I've got a Minx fiber glass dune buggy the original was a gel coat dip gold wt silver flake, someone painted over it red and it bubbled so I sanded it down to the original gel coat and sprayed some regular Automotive primer on it I never got around to finishing and noticed now the black primer is bubbling and flaking off is there a special bonding agent for fiberglass / gelcoat
Hi I have a question? I wanted to know can I spray single stage paint over single stage? I want to do patterns on my truck but it has the single stage paint.
What is the best auto paint brand to buy for basecoat, primer, sealer and clearcoat. I had used Speedkote when used it on clearcoat. But the basecoat used was a cheap brand on truck TNT automotive paint didn't like it either on my old bright silver metallic truck. I don't know all the professional basecoat and other ones that are best. Either way am still beginner. And would need a better spray gun in future too I like the Black Widow though. Probably would get the Black Widow HTE.
@@HowToPaintYourCar did you go to college to be a auto painter. I had checked on one school close to where I live but haven't went to college since 2002 the last time but it was for computer programming but now since I painted my old truck I prefer auto detailing and painting. Plus I am not really good with math and computers do deal with lots of math. Plus I enjoy auto detailing a lot.

I am using my polisher now because I have oxidation on my vehicle so I bought a orange polisher pad but they said online use yellow pads but for me a heavy cutting one I need a totally heavy cutting one. But I might get these Hex Logic pads I don't what happened earlier today but it paid for the pads on eBay but I didn't order them but I told them as long as they 7 inches or more I will take the Hex Logic pads they were black, dark red and another color but if they not 7 inches or more I told them to cancel the order. I ordered a better mask if I do painting again on another vehicle because I like doing it now even though my experience is still at a beginner. I ordered a mask like a gas mask but it will protect against the paint fumes too and it costed like 39 from China. If I do go farther with painting I will get a paint stripper tool and a paint gun I already bought more grits of sandpaper online. It's gonna be either painting, robotics or 3d printer I would go more into the future.
Thanks for the video. I know you referenced your paint shop in the video, but do you know if a home depot or lowes or something carries this paint? I've been googling where to buy it and I actually haven't found a single lead on where to go buy this stuff. Painting my motorcycle soon and I'd like to use this base. Thanks!
Would these be sufficient for airbrush? My kids race quarter midgets and I want to airbrush their helmets. Please help me make this easy. Its been about 18 years since I last dealt with paints and airbrushing. Thank you
lol Thanks! She is too much. I feel bad completely taking her out. I figure to leave her in it. I try to make it PROFESSIONAL, but I don't have the heart to not include her in. Especially when she smiles and stuff lol...
Home depot has lacquer thinner for $12 which I mix with Acrylic enamel thinners, MEK, Toluene and acetone for various applications. Shop lacquer and urethane thinners are usually about $30/gal. Basecoats aren't as finicky as topcoats when it comes to thinner quality. I actually mix garage sale laquers with Omni basecoats and DMD toners, testing everything first to make sure dabs blend well first. Topcoat clears are important to have the right mix of hardener and thinner for gloss and durability. Thinners can be cancerous, don't breathe or touch.
Visse Volker I'm gonna be painting an off-road go kart soon and I want to do a nice job but I don't want cheap paint. I want something that's pretty durable but not spend $150 to paint a go kart and I'm not a professional painter so I don't really know a way to get a decent, durable paint job without spending a lot of $ !
Hi I saw you because I´m trying to find the best single coat paint for my red none metallic car . What do you think ?? some one else is going to paint the car
I found the best red was a Ferrari red and I was a lacquer lover, but PPG acrylic enamels were great. I loved Imron, but is was a little runny, so I would mix it with DMD toners 50/50 and use DAU hardeners (10%). I can testify to over 20 year gloss and durability
Thanks for the great videos! Had a quick question. Went to my paint supply store and wanted a quote on a quart of DBC paint code 69z camellia red and they said $331? I know this video is 2 years old but thats like 3X the amount. Is this right or am I getting ripped off?
merlin801900 he's more than likely getting body shop pricing. I called two wesco and one of them gave me body shop picking 540 for a gallon of DBC. The other quoted me 800 dollars for a gallon. Call around for better pricing.

The Omni-Plus sealer rocks, covers great and dries as flat as glass.

I have both the deltron line and omni line at my shop. I really dont like the mbc the mbp is good but you dont get good color match like the deltron
Very helpful to learn about the newer paint systems. I have a motorcycle to paint. Thanks
Thanks for watching!

Would the base coat go over Dupli color?
great videos. paint shop i visited said they use hardener in their base coat. is this common? what is the advantage?
Many paints will not offer a warranty without using a hardener. The advantage in my opinion is that it creates a chemical bond with your clearcoat.

I was quoted $1500 for a gallon of R93P Deltron!
😮

Ppg global is great. I use global sealers with dbc base.

My car has Kapci and I don't like it. Should have gone for Deltron.
