This is the best video on how to do this. IMO. Short, to the point, not preceded by 10 minutes of blah blah blah and pretense, and he takes the time to isolate each example. THANKS!
I watched several pro's show the mixing process but yours just made it "snap" in my head 😊 Love the way you explained it - I finally got it lol - THANKS! 👍
That Omni epox primer MP171 and MP175 catalyst calls for 2:1 to 1/2 part acetone, as a reducer. Using the “parts” on the cup with your example shown at the end, I came out to 8.75 parts total or..just about 18oz. Hope I’m right?
The way I do those is look for a 2:1:1 chart on the cup then do your 2 parts epoxy then 1 part hardner the just go half way up on the last 1 part with the acetone. Its the easiest way for me. Hope this helps!!!!!
Hey man thanks for the video. really cleared up some confusion Ive had about mixing ratios. Then I read on the rustoleum can of Farm and Implement paint that thinning for spraying may be up to 15% by volume. Now im confused again. Can you help me with that? Thanks
It messes with me also. The way I do it is if its a gallon of paint which is 128 ounces just google what is 15%of 128 and it comes to 19.2, so 19.2 ounces id how much reducer that goes in the whole gal. Kinda cheatin lol but that is how I do it thanks for watching!!!
Now days I do not use mixing cups anymore if I dont have to. I use 3M PPS 2.0 system with hard cup that has the ratios around it that takes didposable lids and liners. Since lacquer thinner and carb/choke cleaner (what i use to clean my gravity hvlp guns) is kind of expensive now days. It saves me money in not having to use lacquer thinner to clean out a mixing cup and a gravity cup. Seeing how lacquer thinner is $23 per gallon and reducer is $40 per gallon
My favorite way to mix odd ball mixes is, if im mixin a small amount I take a spray paint cap and mark a line on the inside near the top and call it one part. So if you need 3 parts fill it up 3 times and pour it in a mixin cup then if you need 1 more part fill it to the same line and pour it in the cup then fill it up again with one part then you have 3:1:1, as long a you establish any container to one part you can mix anything , Because one part is one part . I hope this helps!!!!
If I'm to use RGB model in paint production for a 20 litre bucket nd my Red is 78% Green 60% and Blue 50%... How do I measure them accurately to yield the best result in the 20 litre paint bucket
Usually the first number 8 is your clear or primer or basecoat. The second number 1 is usually your catalyst and the last number 2 is usually the reducer, but check your manufacturer ratio, most of the time it tells what each component is and mix it like they say so you don't have any horror stories lol, hope this helps!!!!
I EVAN WENT AS FAR AS BUYING THE MIXING RULER BUT THEY SENT ME THE WRONG DARN ONE AND GOT REFUNED AND HAVE NOT PICKUP SANOTHER tcp DOSENT CARRY THE RULERS LOL
On 3:1 like your talking about the first number is your paint color or primer or clear, the the second number will be what you thin the paint with also know as reducer. I hope this helped, this stuff can be very confusing if you haven't messed with this before!!
bro my math sucks and kinda like my dad i usualy eyrball it. those cups are confusing to me simple is hard for me to understand buty complicaTED I CAN DO GO FIGURE LOL I USE A 4:1 CLEAR NO REDUCER MANUF DOES NOT RECOMED IT.ALSO SAME FOR THIER PPRIMER ITS THICK REAL THICK LOL
Yeah man it took me a while to learn on the cup. Here is a ez way to do your 4:1 or what ever ratio. Just take a small cup put a sharpie mark on it and that will be your 1part fill it up to your line 4 times and that will be your 4, then fill it up to the same line 1 time, then mix it with the 4 part then like that you have a 4:1mixture, hope this helps!!!!

I need to upgrade to them for sure, I get stuck in a rut some times lol
What if you want to do 3:1:1 . How would you do that on you last example

I wish I could help you, all I have ever worked in is ounces And measurements in parts, sorry I couldn't help you.
holy crap, dude says the whole script in one breath.
How do you mix 8:1:2 ?
Usually the first number 8 is your clear or primer or basecoat. The second number 1 is usually your catalyst and the last number 2 is usually the reducer, but check your manufacturer ratio, most of the time it tells what each component is and mix it like they say so you don't have any horror stories lol, hope this helps!!!!
I understand that but if the mixing cup only says 8:1:1 how do you make 8:1:2 ?
I EVAN WENT AS FAR AS BUYING THE MIXING RULER BUT THEY SENT ME THE WRONG DARN ONE AND GOT REFUNED AND HAVE NOT PICKUP SANOTHER tcp DOSENT CARRY THE RULERS LOL
Some say 3 parts paint 1 part reducer. What the hell does that mean ??????
