I mounted all my hi4 kits to the firewall or the drivers side near the brake booster, and mounted the ground behind the relay screw, then the power wire to the fuse relay box power wire, then tap the headlight wiring behind the fuse relay box to hide for a factory look and easy of swapping the relay with having to pull the parking lights out
Like your vids, just updated all my lights to led and switchbacks for the turn signals on my 98 z71. Just a fyi you might want to put your power wire on a 12v accessory power, just to prevent battery drain. Attaching it directly to the battery is supplying power to your relay all the time. Thanks for the vids.
So I love your stepside! I bought the same 97 stepside twice! Love to tell you the story! Your truck is clean. Mine is clean but not that clean. And I put the exact same blue LEDs in my dash the first time I owned the truck. That was rad to see that! It looks the best!

I have a 2001 Tahoe and I just took a piece of wire I had laying around and cut one of the wires got the head like and spliced it in and found a ground and now I have low beams that stay on when I’m using highbeams
I really just made my own 😂 I already had the pieces laying around. But thanks for the video it really helped

I have a 98 k1500 Just put led turn signal bulbs in and they were working fine until now. I only have turn signals/hazards when my headlights are off. Any ideas? The fuses look fine
Hi there! I fitted the wiring loom exactly the way you did on your video but my lights, when I hit high beam, are blacking out. Do you think that might be because I have normal bulbs? Not LED like you. Perhaps too much power? Any help or suggestions you could offer would be super appreciated!
What year is ur truck and what kind of light bulbs are you using in ur headlights. High & lows?

I have been wanting to do this for my 96 silverado but haven't got the parts for it yet. I did buy true glass Spyder Auto replacement headlight housings which are very nice and you can replace bulbs if needed. I use Farhan 20,000 Lms 6500K low beams and when paired with the glass headlight housings are extremely bright. I was curious about the conversion like you did to not only see better up close but also farther away so I can see the deer better at night. The Deer are bad here meaning alot of them when driving so this might just be the way. Thanks for the video and explanation of the wiring of which goes where. PS: T-Taps are so amazing. I even use them for my reverse light on my tailgate light bar with such a clean connection and super easy to do.
It’s funny how this use to be a normal feature on cars and trucks. Then manufacturers stopped making hi/lows like that. Now people want to go back to it. This is something old is new again. LMC sells the relays for pickups.

Thanks! The headlights are just clear/chrome ones from eBay, bulbs are auxbeam LED. Turn signals are just some switchbacks from Amazon, and I had to add resistors and the EP29 flasher for them to work correctly

Yes just put the ground on the bottom touching the bare metal...so it grounds

Hey man I’m debating on getting some of these headlights for my truck. On the parking lenses does the casing and lens come apart like your normal blinker casings

Yes, you turn them off and on like normal, the low beans just stay on while the highs are on

We’re did you find your side markers I had some on my Tahoe and one fell off and I can’t find them anywhere and the place I bought them from is no longer there
They pop up in eBay every once in a while. Very hard style to find.

Do you hear the clicking noise when it's on? If not I'd suggest you replace the flasher relay. If you do hear it, then probably just replace your cluster lights.
I've always wanted to do this, I just dont really need it due to leds...

@@jacobking4106 nah, they're bright but not ridiculously bright. Doesn't help its lifted 10" so I get brighted more often now since I'm right at people's eye level.

@@jacobking4106 theyre auxbeam leds. I got em like 4 years ago. I had to get the little power adapter. Theyve been going strong since then.

Look up fleece chips. All lights on mod. They make a computer chip for $20 for your truck. So much easier than this install. But only for 2003- current years 👍👍

BADZ71 your headlight switches inside the cab where were you able to pick up a whight switch at.. I can't find then anywhere I also have been trying to find a instrument cluster for all my speedo gadgets whight somehow anyone now whee I can find that at
I'm sort of confused by your question. You can get new switches from Amazon, RockAuto, or a parts store. The gauge clusters usually come from a salvage yard.
@@BADZ71 I believe he is wanting info on the headlight switch since you have a white overlay on it like did you find the white overlay at a pick n pull or online.
I noticed you had 2 lights under the hood and i tried looking thru your videos but i couldnt find anything. How did you that?
I think I may have touched on it in a video but don't remember lol. Just took a light from a truck out of a salvage yard and mounted it on the hood just like the factory light and wired it up.

Why you have all those resistors lol i have all led’s in mine and no hyper flash. Upgrade the turn signal relay
Switchbacks require the resistors. I tried with just having the EP29 flasher upgrade but it wasn't doing it with the switchback in the mirror and the front lights.

This little mod allows your high beam headlights to be on with the low beam lights. The parking lights are Switchback, meaning white while running and amber for the turn signal

Why does everyone pull the passenger headlight to do this mod? So much easier and better to just use the harness that runs down the drivers fender and power from the main on the fuse panel all right there. Both high and low beam wires pass thro that harness on drivers side near top of the fender

Yes electricity didn't change between this time. Even on the 2021 model years electricity is still electricity.
What you can do rather than connecting to the positive terminal, if the positive terminal is already clogged up like mine it, go to the fuse box on the drivers side engine bay and just connect it to one of the two studs. They both carry 12V and it still works perfectly
Their fuse is a TERRIBLE part of this WHOLE system as they put a way too big fuse in and it will melt the wire before blowing the fuse. Had this issue while installing my BOSS plow and put wires to headlight on wrong side so it melted all of my headlight wires when turned on.... just a heads up

I have a kit, but it was just a single wire running from one relay to another and that's it as there's already relays for high and low beams. This kit makes no damn sense.

What every anyone does never use those stupid Scotch locks made by 3M or anything similar. They are one of the worse things ever invented for wiring. They cut the wire and open it up for corrosion. Butt connectors or soldering is the way to go. Also can mount on the driver side also. Power can be had from an available post on the relay box which also gets the components up under the hood and out of direct weather and water contact. Hid mine under the ecu
