  • New episode out with my friend, Sara Mastros. Sara is a magician, sorceress, and teacher of witchcraft who dropped by to talk to us about some pieces of Christian history that many of us (perhaps!) aren't aware of and challenge some of our assumptions regarding being followers of Jesus. This one stretched me in some really good ways and I'm sure it'll do the same for you (IF you'll allow it). Enjoy!

As a recovering Mormon and as a student of Sara’s, I can attest to Sara’s great advice! Ritually undoing your vows / oaths to Jesus, your Church, and other Christian powers is a worthwhile experiment! If you are super nervous about it, just experiment and see what fruit is born! After a couple months, just see what fruit there is and then reevaluate.

You should definitely invite Sara back! She’s a delight and I would be keen to hear the Orphic Hymns talk.

Dear Glenn, I practiced evangelical Christianity for 14 years. I was very sincere and devout. I studied my Bible hardcore, but even then, I didn't like Paul. Of course, I couldn't express that openly, since Paul is the strongest influencer of evangelical Christian doctrine. Eventually I realized I simply couldn't hold up my end of the bargain. I had to leave the church, and simply BE who I am without fear. Let me tell you, I was so scared of going to hell when I left. It took me a while to shake off the fear. I still feel convinced there is some kind of Divine Force and possibly a Divine "Person." I have seen and experienced too many things to doubt that. I returned to who and what I truly am, which is, a believer in the Divine, but my practice is a personal private one. I kept God/Spirit, but let go of religion. I am a Witch at heart(NOT wiccan). I don't even adhere to "Witch- type" beliefs. I didn't become a Witch, I simply realized that I was one (and always had been). I am an "army of one." My faith is a personal and private one. If God truly loves me, I don't think God would truly let my eternal wellbeing hang in the balance simply because I didn't have the human strength to do the mental gymnastics to believe all the "right" things and adhere to some kind of formulaic "faith." I believe in a Divine force or being because of how the Divine has interacted with me personally. I can say now with a full heart, that God is good. And my connection to the Divine is intact. Brightest Blessings to you and your dear family. I wish you the utmost Peace and abiding Love in your heart. ~🌟~

Sorry, I seriously could not listen to her shouting and screeching. Shame as the subject was a good one.

I found the tenor of her voice challenging as well and realized what a privileged position that is. We can cherry pick what brings us comfort. I needed to push myself to be uncomfortable for a period of time to take in information I may never have been exposed to. I am profoundly grateful for Glen’s willingness to bring us so many perspectives. 🕊
